In addition to what I've already mentioned, these new ratings really reflect the fighter. Vinny Paz is very aggressive as a LW, but morphs into a more complete boxer/puncher as he moves up and modifies his style. Spot on, Ice.
Of course they still invite the original munchkins back from Wizard of Oz. Every year in grammar school, we would go to the gymnasium for a speech and presentation from the original damn munchkins from the movie! But they were very old and every year there would be less and less of them to give the presentation. I've been out of school for quite sometime. I wonder if they even have any original munchkins left?!? Last edited by dragon29; 11-27-2012 at 01:44 AM. Reason: Adding |

[QUOTE=hamed2;3412712]Yes, very nice - thanks!
Why this sim never gets old, any new fighter comes along or goes up to another weight class & all sorts of new fight options![/QUOT I think that every Monday will be, THROWBACK MONDAY. I'll add weight classes to those fighters that require it. A couple pages back, there is a list of several hundred that qualify.

The other guy needed a rating too. I'll rate Manuel, but it might take a few days due to not knowing anything about him.

Nice reference to PWillisTheMan's list a few pages back. I think, going in reverse order on the lists, that we've left off on a MW rating for Jack Dillon. I've thought a lot about the fighters in different weight classes, as well. Just a quick scanning of the list, I see examples of Mugabi @ MW, Czyz @ MW, Kronk's John David Jackson @ JMW, Pettway @ WW, Sergio @ WW, a cool Emile Griffith request for JMW, etc...
I always loved the changes in weights and I am sure previous versions have had fighters ranked in some of these requested weights, like I can remember using a Luisito Espinosa @ BW, Fenech @ BW, Paez @ FW, Freddie Pendleton @ LW, Junior Jones @ BW and so on. I can actually remember a lot of these fighters and weights way back during the Lance Haffner TKO Boxing days, all the way up through TitleFight 2001 (I believe). Fighters I played a lot were Louie "Sharpshooter" Espinoza @ FW, Terrance Alli and Aaron Pryor @ LW, and I can remember a Bramble JWW rating (right around the Oba Carr fight date). For years I've been using John Dewey's tremendous ratings of a lot of fighter ratings for alternate weight classes, not in the offical database, and I thank him for that. It's always good to get different viewpoints and perception of fighters. Looking forward to THROWBACK MONDAYS, IceTea, I think its a great idea. Last edited by dragon29; 11-27-2012 at 10:32 PM. I noticed that Rubin "Hurricane" Carter's rating has never been modified. I was wondering if you could take a look at it when you have the time.
Thanks |

I like the request of possibly modifiying some overlooked fighters, like the referenced Hurricane Carter by Mark42661. Maybe some historical fighters' ratings can be modified a bit. Not necessarliy moving/changing their weight class, just giving a little tweak.
I was also thinking about THROWBACK MONDAYS. Maybe during the week or as we approach, we can give suggestions on possible modifications, whether it be an alternate weight or a historical fighter revisit. For example, I can always remember a 168 pound Roberto Duran. I even remember when earlier versions of the game didnt even have the option of a smaller, better Duran. The SMW was the 'modern Duran' at the time and, as a lot of you may remember, a single fighter having 3 or 4 weight classes to choose from didnt exist. I always used to wish I had a LW, MW or even a JMW Duran because all the game offered was a SMW Duran. Funny that nowadays, I would like a SMW Duran. Exact same with Alexis Arguello @ 140. Early versions always had the JWW Arguello. There was never a younger, stronger Arguello @ FW-LW. Now, I would love your interpretation of a JWW Arguello. |

Thank Ice, you're always open to suggestions and while I tweak some ratings here and there I much prefer having the base come from someone much more experienced than I am at creating them.
One big existing one that I always change is James "Hard rock" Green. He wasn;t a world beater, but he was too good to be a (1) and that rating really doesn't reflect who he was imo. The Mugabi fight was a war. |

Ruben Carter has been adjusted from a 7 to a 9. The 9 rated simulates out properly.
