Round 12

Chagaev staggers Brewster with a quick right hand over the top. Brewster retreats to the corner! Chagaev’s scoring from the outside. Brewster is trying, unsuccessfully, to pick off Chagaev’s punches. Oh, Chagaev nailed Brewster with three hard punches. Ruslan Chagaev is opening up! He’s raining punches down upon Lamon Brewster!

Brewster covering along the ropes!

He’s not answering back!

I think they’re going to stop the fight.

The bell saves Brewster!

They’ve got a lot of work to do on Brewster in the corner. He looked ready to go and I don’t think he would have made it out of the round if there had been another 10 seconds left.

Round 13

Chagaev rushes from his corner as the bell sound to finish off Brewster and walks into a huge left hook! Chagaev almost goes down! They’re trading punches as though it were do or die here in the 13th round! The crowd’s on its feet and the roar is deafening here on Title Bout Island! Wow, both fighter explode thunderous punches off the other’s head! I can’t believe someone hasn’t hit the floor yet. It’s a blur of flying leather in ring center! The bell ends an electrifying 13th round!

Hell of a fight thus far, can't wait for the final two rounds.

Round 14

Chagaev looks like a good stiff breeze could drop him as he comes out for the 14th round! Brewster snaps Chagaev’s head with the jab. They clinch and Adolph separates them. Chagaev goes to the body. Brewster scores with one, two, three jabs. Chagaev is too tired to duck and takes the punches flush.

They fall into another clinch. Adolph is having a difficult time separating them.

There’s the bell. Brewster stole that round and he may really need it! Only one round to go with the Heavyweight Championship of the World on the line. I have Brewster ahead 136-132!

You’ve gotta wonder what Tony Galento and Franco Cavicchi must be thinking out there?

Round 15

Welcome to the 15th and final round of a great Heavyweight fight. The fighters touch gloves, the crowd’s on it’s feet and they’re cheering on the underdog, Lamon Brewster.

Here we go. Chagaev goes to the body. Brewster covers well. Brewster lands a wild overhand right and Chagaev’s legs turn to jelly!!

Brewster empties an entire cache of heavy leather thunder into Chagaev’s staggering body… and Chagaev collapses in a heap!!

He hit the floor like a pile of groceries falling through a hole in the bottom of a bag!

Chagaev’s back on his feet! He willed himself to his feet! He’s got the heart of a champion! Brewster’s exhausted. He looks like he’s about to collapse himself.

They fall into a clinch. Adolph separates them.
Brewster with a wild hook! He only catches air with it.

The crowds on it’s feet cheering on their man – their underdog – Lamon Brewster.

And there’s the bell!

Both fighters embrace in ring center. Brewster raises his hands over his head.
It looks like that knockdown cemented the victory for him. Let’s wait and see how the judges scored this fight before we jump to any conclusions, though.

A roar of boos explode throughout the auditorium.
