Wondering if anyone wants to take a stab at Derek Bieniasz. He didn't make it above A ball IRL but he has absoloutley went off in my '90s cardinals save.
These are the only pictures I could find of him. ![]() ![]() |

AESP, I have another pre-whiskers request for ya, if you don't mind. Rick Dempsey first appeared in a major league uniform in '69, and it wasn't until '74 or '75 when he started with the 'stache. The shadow on this one doesn't bother me at all.

One last request today: Reggie Smith w/ a 'stache. This photo's from the 80's, but it looks like he started rockin' facial hair soon after he was traded away from Boston in '73.

Reggie’s on my list for this week (yes, I have a list). Could not decide if the mustache should be the CUF default or not. He kept it post retirement so I tend to think it ought to be, my Boston roots notwithstanding.

Reggie Smith
Reggie Smith played a pivotal role for the Red Sox in his rookie year, 1967, a year that will live forever in Boston lore. That was the year of the Impossible Dream Red Sox who won the pennant and, in just about every way, reignited New England’s passion for baseball. Smith quietly went about his pursuit of excellence. He led the league in doubles and won a Gold Glove in ’68. He hit .309 with 25 homers in ’69. In ’70, he hit .300 again and scored 109 runs. In ’71 he hit 30 homers, led the league in doubles again and also total bases. All the while, he was a superb outfielder and a dynamic base runner.
But he was desperately unhappy. He was a Black man in Boston barely a decade after the team was the last team in baseball to desegregate. He was a Black man in Boston when the city was being ripped apart by race, this during the busing wars. Reggie Smith was a metronome, doing the same stuff every year: he hit .300, he hit 20 homers, he walked about as much as he struck out, he played excellent defense for the Red Sox. After being traded at the end of '73 he did that in St. Louis, putting up two All-Star seasons. Then he did it in Los Angeles. He had his best season in 1977 with the Dodgers; he hit .307/.427/.576 with 32 homers, 104 runs scored, 87 RBIs. He led the Dodgers to the pennant. He was really good in part-time work his final season in San Francisco; he hit .284/.364/.470 with 18 homers in 106 games. The Yomiuri Giants then offered him close to a million dollars and he went to play in Japan for two years. He returned home and coached for a while, but has spent most of the 25 or so years since coaching kids, doing charity work and trying to get more Black players into professional baseball. When you add it all up, what do you have? From a Hall of Fame case perspective, Smith was a seven-time All-Star. He posted right around 65 career WAR, which is in Hall of Fame range. His JAWS score — which combines his peak and career value — places him in the same world as other Hall of Fame right fielders like Dave Winfield and Vlad Guerrero. But with a guy like Reggie Smith, you have to take it all in — the difficulty of being a Black man in Boston in the late 1960s and early 1970s, his refusal to back down from what he believed, his complete disinterest in flashiness which caused so many people to overlook him, his quiet insistence on doing all the little things well. All of it adds up. - Joe Posnanski, Dec 14, 2020, The Athletic I'm leaning toward the mustache being the new default one.

Derek Bieniasz
Major League teams continued to tap into the Toronto area as baseball's annual draft wrapped up yesterday. Derek Bieniasz, a pitcher/outfielder with the Leaside juveniles, as drafted in the 26th round by the Seattle Mariners, the second local player to be taken in the 50-round draft. Leaside third baseman, Terry Adams. who also played for the West Toronto Collegiate Warriors, was selected by the Blue Jays in the 21st round on Tuesday. - The Toronto Star, 4 June 1992
Took a stab at him for ya.

Would someone wanna give do 'stached Mike Caldwell for me? I'd like to have on for my epic All Teams quickstart.
Lans, I don't know how difficult for you too add a 'stache to your current facegen...if not, there seems to be not very many clear photos of him with facial hair. The one I've posted is from baseballreference. In the biggest games of Caldwell's career, like the playoff games from the '80's, he was sportin' a 'stache. |

Thanks, I feel like I'm asking a lot when I request facegens from you guys, but I appreciate it. I'm probably 65/70 % thru with completing my All Teams quickstart, which includes each every MLB team from each season since 1901. It enhances the quality of the quickstart if the facegens match the way a player looked that year.
Can hardly wait to share the quickstart with the OOTP community, it's turning out well. I'm pretty proud of it. |

Mike Caldwell
Caldwell began his career with the San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Cincinnati Reds, but the best stretch of his career came with the Brewers. The trade of minor leaguers Dick O’Keefe and Garry Pyka to the Reds for Caldwell goes down as one of the most significant in the history of the franchise.
Caldwell shook off a slow start with the Brewers in 1977 to set a single-season franchise record for wins (22) in 1978. During that campaign in which he finished second in AL Cy Young voting, Caldwell registered a 2.36 ERA, an AL-best 23 complete games and three shutouts vs. the eventual World Series champion New York Yankees. Caldwell earned the moniker “Yankee killer” for his 12-5 record and 2.66 ERA vs. the Yankees from 1977-82. In 1982, Caldwell (12 complete games) registered 17 wins, including two in the World Series vs. the Cardinals as the Brewers captured the AL pennant. Caldwell earned double-figure victories for six straight seasons with the Brewers (1978-83). He retired as the winningest lefty pitcher in Brewers history (102), which also ranks second for the franchise. Caldwell also is the franchise leader in complete games (81) and second in shutouts (18). Caldwell is recognized on the Brewers’ Wall of Honor. - lakegenevanews.net With mustache. He was blond so not sure how it will turn out on a Mac, perc.

If LansdowneSt doesn't do him for you tonight I'll give him a shot tomorrow morning... the amount of rookies I must do for the pack for the year I reached (1943) is very high (the highest since I have done 1871 since almost every players had to be done that year) and I really want to have everything done for the launch of OOTP25 (I want to play that version contrary to 24

Thanks for all you do! Yeah, with the weeks it's taking me to create the All Team QS, I definitely plan on importing it into OOTP 25 upon its release. It worked well last year, from 23 to 24, with a rudimentary, albeit still large version (30+ Gigs) of the current quickstart.

Took me a lot of attempts with different pictures with and without AI assistance but at the end of the day I wasn't happy with any of the AI results. So to make a long story short this is the result that looks the best to me...
