I know you spend a lot of time in this thread but I thought it was just that you liked the A's second best to the White Sox. |

Sorry about that G&GH!
If you guys want a very good laugh, I suggest you read this thread from the A's message board on scout.com. http://mb3.scout.com/foaklandathleti...art=21&stop=40 Apparently some White Sox fans think Joe Crede is a superior defensively to our boy Chavy

I have no idea how they're winning this year, mostly smoke and mirrors - and pitching which has been about 1 run per game better than the career averages. Stats like the one that says they score in 75% of the innings they sacrifice bunt just defies all logic and history. I fully expect them to crash and burn in the second half when all the guys having career years (Garland, Contreras, Cotts, Hermanson, Podsednik, Iguchi, Crede, etc.) go back to normal. For this year, and who knows how many years into the future, I'm behind the A's all the way - especially this weekend and next. |

Joe Crede has very little side-to-side range. He's great on bunts/weak ground balls, has a solid arm, and does not make many errors. But he's not even in the same ballpark as Chavez, Rolen, Rodriguez and the other top tier defensive 3Bs. |

Well when a team issues 10 walks in a game to your team, you better win. Thank goodness the A's did. They missed some nice scoring opportunities and it very well could have been 10-2 or more. But a W is a W.
I'll be watching the Chicago broadcast on WGN tonight, so let's hope the A's can shut Hawk Harrelson up. |

Six games behind the Wild Card-leading Twins right now. This A's team is playing (and especially pitching) as well as anybody right now.

I'm not an A's fan, but I am feeling pretty happy right now. All along I maintained that those writing off the A's were doing so prematurely. Just about everything that could have gone wrong for them did over the first third of the season.

I didn't see this posted here, but but Barton has been moved from high A to AA . . . at the age of 19. He started hittng for power over the last month or so to get his ISO to 160 or so, while maintaining more walks than SO (something like a 60/40 ratio).
More good news from the Mulder deal.

What is wrong with Macha?
Why does he leave Calero in for the 8th? Is something wrong with Duchscherer and/or Street? There is no reasonable explanation I can think of for anybody but Duch or Street to be in in the 8th and 9th inning, unless they want Rincon to pitch to a lefty. Otherwise, those two guys are the only two reliable guys in the pen so they should be in. Hopefully Street can get the job done here. |

What a game tonight. We get Street to blow a save, but it doesn't matter in the end...
well fought game for both teams. |
