George Pechiney
In various ways, the life of right-handed pitcher George Pechiney typified the existence of the late-nineteenth-century journeyman player. Pechiney’s abilities were modest, and his major-league career was a relatively brief one, abbreviated by abuse of alcohol. Once his playing days were over, Pechiney returned to the arduous everyday working life from which he had sprung, his name rarely appearing in newsprint from then on. He seldom ventured far from home, married a local girl and raised a family, lived quietly, toiled into his senior years, and died within walking distance of the place where he had been born. In sum, the life of George Pechiney, like that of many of his contemporaries in uniform, was almost entirely unremarkable – but for the singular distinction of having been a major-league ballplayer. - SABR
Redid the facegen using a photo from the Photopack thread. The "before" picture from the CU Facepack is one of those fake, placeholder "Bickford" faces that someone made and tagged to many, many players. That face is a scourge upon efforts to clean up the pack... |

Harry Watts
Harry Watts was a farmhand in the Cardinals system. My 1963 replay gets him called up by the Redbirds for Opening Day. Not much is expected as he is 2nd utility in CF.

I read the email generated from the post and so I didn't realize you'd posted a screenshot of what you had as an fg. It's not bad. I saw that photo but elected for the other photo that comes up for him. I closed his mouth using Adobe software and then used that as the source file. The facial dimensions seem to match up pretty well between yours and mine. I smoothed mine to try and get him a bit younger looking. I think if I had used the one you did as a photo, I'd have tried to smooth it too to clean up noise in the upper part of the smirk. I guessed close to you on the complexion. The old minor leaguers just default to Caucasian unless someone corrects it.

Jerry Augustine
LansdowneSt,
Jerry must've fallen asleep on his left side during spring training. Would you mind touching him up (or at least completing his tan ![]() |

Jerry Augustine
It’s very rare when an athlete plays high school, college, and professionally in his native state, but Jerry Augustine, a left-handed pitcher for the Brewers for a decade, went even further by being a baseball coach for an NCAA Division I school (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), and in 2009 he has been a TV analyst for the major-league team he played for, the Milwaukee Brewers. - SABR
Redid the facegen using the 1981 Donruss Card. His face got wider as he aged but I tried to keep it true to the early 80s. His lip is hanging down in the picture and facegen made kind of a soul-patch with it. It amuses more than bothers me. Were it not for the mustache, I'd smooth out some of the color patches in the face - i had to turn up the purple to counter the yellow. Tell him if he stays in the game longer, he can skip the tanning machine all together ![]() |

Raisel Iglesias
After being deported from Mexico in June, Tomas Valle Valdivia, 44, faces new smuggling charges in Miami. Prosecutors say he is part of a criminal enterprise that has profited for years off the black market for Cuban ballplayers. The goal of the smugglers is to get a player to a third country where he can establish residency and then walk into the big leagues as a free agent. Valdivia, also known as “Tomasito,” is accused of using go-fast boats to smuggle one player off the island in October 2013 and another at an undetermined time. Neither player is identified in court documents, but the first appears to be Cincinnati Reds pitcher Raisel Iglesias. Court documents claim the agreed-upon price for the player’s smuggling was 20% of his $27 million contract. - sun-sentinel.com
Seven years into his big-league career, Raisel Iglesias has 140 saves, a 3.06 ERA, (142 ERA+), 3.35 FIP, and after serving as the Reds' closer for years, has transitioned smoothly to the Dodgers in 2021, finishing 11th in the Cy Young Award voting. Redid the facegen as I personally prefer the non-oversmiling ones... Last edited by LansdowneSt; 12-10-2021 at 07:29 PM. |

Hey LansdowneSt, any way we could get an A's-era Jason Giambi? Of the two that I have, one is horrible and the other is not bad for an older, graying Giambi, but he's smiling...

Oscar Mercado
In 2019 it looked like Oscar Mercado was going to own center field for the team formerly known as the Cleveland Indians. He showed power, speed and the ability to track down the ball on defense. Over the last two seasons, however, that has not been the case. Mercado, 26, after spending his first 45 games of the 2021 season at Class AAA Columbus, joined an outfield rotation of Bradley Zimmer, Daniel Johnson and Harold Ramirez with the big-league club in June. Along with the other three players, Mercado failed to separate himself, leaving as many questions about his ability to contribute to the Guardians in the future as there were at the start of the year. - cleveland.com
Redid the facegen. The current CU Facepack picture looks like a wide smile picture that someone thinned the lips of to try and close the mouth. It doesn't always work though. Best just to try a picture where he isn't smiling and the most recent media day photos had some. Last edited by LansdowneSt; 12-10-2021 at 10:45 PM. Reason: Redid the facegen a few hours after posting to smooth out some color splotches bothering me |

LansdowneSt, can I ask you redo the Tommy Toms FG? I'm in 1975 and checking the players FG I must say that his isn't very good... I have found some B&W option to work with but they have shadow and I'm not very good to remove this.

Sure, I'll try to get to him and Giambi tonight. I also did some de-purpling on Larry Johnson earlier tonight too before I put it in my master fg folder for use. Do you want me to post it on the CUF thread recolored or let it go and not be "that guy" who just can't leave an fg alone?

Sure you can, your works beat mine every day of the week since I'm not what we can call a perfectionist. Also I'm sure they want the best FG possible for the complete universe facegen pack..

Jason Giambi
"Guys, you're still tryin' to replace Giambi. I told you, we can't do it. We can't do it" - Billy Beane/Brad Pitt Moneyball
The 44-year-old slugger spent 20 seasons in the big leagues between the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Colorado Rockies, and Cleveland Indians. He finished his career with a slash line of .277/.399/.516, and hit 440 career home runs. Giambi was a five-time All Star selection, a two-time Silver Slugger award winner, and was also named the American League Most Valuable Player in 2000. Giambi’s legacy is affected by his connection to the Steroid Era, as he admitted in 2003 to a federal grand jury that he did use performance enhancing drugs. Regardless of the connection to the Steroid Era, Giambi was still one of the more dominant players of his era, and one can even argue that he was the best player in the entire game of baseball during his prime (1999-2003). - baseballessential.com upon his retirement in 2015 I still see him as a clean-shaven Yankee with wide cheeks, so I had to focus on the picture. Redid the facegen as best I could. |

Guys, I'm sure LSt is too polite to ask this of you, so I will. I think you'll find this is just a thread for players he wants to share with us, so can you keep your requests to the CU thread if that's OK?
Cheers G

Tommy Toms
Tommy Toms had a brief three-year Major-League career spanning 1975-1977, each year ending up with an identical 0-1 record over 18 appearances for the Giants. Sadly, for him however, he would go on to spend all of 1978 in the Minor Leagues in three different organizations: Cardinals, Orioles and Rangers, before calling it a career. All told, Toms finished with a career 0-3 record over the aforementioned 18 games, with a 5.40 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched, all in relief. -whentoppshadballs.com
I ended up using one the black & white one. The Topps 1978 card was the best color offering but wasn't straight-on enough for me to get a good mustache. That Topps Card - mostly because of the angle - is the narrowest of the faces in all the pics out there. The B&W is the most representative of him. It's all good, guys. It's just easier for me to manage requests on the other thread - otherwise I lose track of them. I almost named this thread "LansdowneSt's facegens that no one asked for, but I did, so am going to post anyways" ![]() |
