9 games left in the season and here are some milestones.
  • 3 more wins will set the all-time record, breaking the 107 win 2011 season.
  • The current team avg of .295 is tied for the highest ever, again with the 2011 team
  • The teams 3.22 ERA will shatter the previous record of 3.48 set in 2013
  • We end the season with a 9 game road trip meaning our 3.64 million will be the 2nd highest total ever to last year's 3.733 million.
  • With 896 runs to date, this team will shatter the previous mark of 903 set in 2011
  • With 174 SB we are 18 short of the record set last season of 192
  • The teams .295 avg is tied with the 2011 team

  • The OPS of .838 is the highest ever, once again surpassing the 2011 team by .002 to date.
  • 20 wins is the single-season record. Forney and Steele will end short of that but only 8 pitchers have ever won 18 or more
  • Dave Miller's 38 HRA is tied for 4th all time
  • Steve Forney is the 1st Rustler pitcher to ever record a 300K season and his 304 are 12 more than his previous team-high 292 set last year.
  • He's also at 13.1 K/9 which will set a new team record.
  • His 0.98 WHIP is currently 2nd all-time to Chase Wilson who set the single-season record in the 1990 inaugural season at 0.96
  • He also will crush the single-season OAVG. His .182 is 19 pts ahead of the previous record set by Chase Wilson in 1990 of .201
  • His OSLG (.338) and OOPS (.603) are both 2nd all-time to Wilson's 1990 season as well.

RUSTLER NEWS:
Just when you think you've figured it out. In the season's final weeks I am resting and playing the everyday players sparingly, at least not full games. That led to a 1-5 week and it looks like barring a sweep we will not set a new single-season W record.
That's actually ok as long as we enter the post-season healthy.

In a dream scenario for schedule makers, New York and Providence play 4 head to head while Dallas and San Antonio do the same.

2015 post season

Providence has to start ace Rich Whittaker in the Wild Card game which means if they do win he won't be available for the 1st two of our series.
Larry Peet (PRO) homers twice and drives in 4 to back Whittaker's 7.1 IP 3 ER outing and Chris Haske saves the game as Providence beats Dallas 4-3.

Division series

  • Lexington vs New England
  • Brooklyn vs Baltimore
  • San Francisco vs Mexico
  • Providence vs Austin
  • Mexico is the defending champions.
  • Baltimore, San Francisco, New England and Austin are all looking for their 1st title.
  • Lexington has won 4, Providence has won 3 Mexico and Brooklyn have each won 1.

GAME 1
Austin-Steve Forney (17-6 3.32) vs Providence-Juan Esquerra (10-5 4.60)

Neither SP is sharp as Forney gets a 1-0 lead and immediately surrenders it back in the 3rd.
In the bottom half, a last-second lineup change bears fruit.
Jeff Hanna hammered LHP this year as did Dave Nolasco. Nolasco hasn't been faring well vs LHP lately so the swap was made and Hanna drilled a 3R HR in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 4-1.
Forney comes out in the 6th after surrendering the lead and Laskey, Antonelli, Lytle, Scott, and then Godinez go 3.1 IP 2 H 5 K 0 R and the game is 4-4 into the 9th. None other than Chris Haske is on the mound for the Black Sox. Becker K's to lead it off and then Haske proceeds to walk Reyes on a full count, Adrian on a 3-1 count, and then Nick Archer on 4 pitches.
Tommy Dziedzic hits a walk-off sac fly to win it!
Austin 5 Providence 4
POTG-Jeff Hanna 1-3 HR (1) 3 RBI (4)
Godinez (W) Haske (L)
Austin leads the series 1-0

At New England Bob Shrader goes 62 IP 3 H 1 ER 6 K and Mario Luna's 2R HR is all they would get in a 2-1 win over the Patriots.
Lexington leads the series 1-0

Division series day 2

Chris Lach (15-6 3.31) vs Jake Byers (12-13 4.02)
Lach gets hit early and is out after 4.1 IP 11 H 7 ER and Jake Byers goes 9, fanning 11, walking none in a 7-1 rout. Jeff Hanna hits his 2nd HR.
POTG-Jake Byers 9 IP 7 H 11 K 1 ER 1-4 2B R
Byers (W) Lach (L)
Series even 1-1

Some insane pitching
Jonathan Ray (MEX) goes 9, strikes out 16 and loses 2-1 to San Francisco on an Aaron Chisholm 2R HR. Xi-Li Au-Yong goes 7 IP 10 H 6 K 0 BB 1 R for the win.
SF leads the series 1-0

In Baltimore, Brooklyn Ace Dakota Eddleman throws a 4-hitter and the Blackhearts take game 1 2-0.
Brooklyn leads the series 1-0

In New England the Minutemen pound Tomohiro Masuda for 7 ER in just 3 IP and take game 2 9-3.
Series even at 1-1

  • San Francisco gets a CG SHO from Danny Sanchez who allowed, or 'scattered' 10 hits and fanned 5 in a 4-0 win.
  • SF leads the series 2-0
  • In Baltimore Jonn Jones (BAL) goes 7-4-1-1-2-7 out dueling Brooklyn's Allen Gies who went 8-4-3-3-6-6 in a 3-1 Blackbirds win to even the series.
  • Series tied 1-1

Division series day 4

Dave Steele (17-6 3.93) vs Kyle Jill (16-12 3.45)
Son of a biscuit. Kyle Jill goes the distance on a 5-hit 7 K CG SHO.
Steele goes 7 IP 6 H 2 K 2 ER but the offense can't do a damn thing.
Providence 2 Austin 0
POTG-Kyle Jill 9 IP 7 K 5 H 0 R 1-3 R
Jill (W) Steele (L)
Providence leads the series 2-1
(and man I am sick to my stomach at the thought of another 1st round exit. I need the offense to wake up!)
  • In Lexington Minuteman Romeo Pirelli hit a tie-breaking solo HR in the top of the 9th to give New England a 6-5 win.
  • New England leads the series 2-1

Division series day 5

Dave Miller (17-7 3.94) vs Rich Whittaker (16-11 3.74) oh the irony.
Miller goes 7 IP 6 H 6 K 2 ER and Ranan Laskey goes 2 perfect innings with 3 K's to beat Whittaker who went 6-7-5-5-3-8 in the loss. Scott Comerford was 2-3 2 RBI and Miller went 1-3 RBI with Nick Archer homering (1).
POTG-Dave Miller 7-6-2-2-2-6
Miller (W) Whittaker (L) Laskey (SV)
Series tied 2-2
  • Mark Holmes (SF) goes 7 and gives up just 2 hits as the Bears take game 3 5-4.
  • SF leads the series 3-0
  • Brooklyn jumped out to an 8-0 lead after 5 and went on to win 9-6.
  • Brooklyn leads the series 2-1
  • Former Rustler Travis Brooks went 7 IP allowing just 4 hits as New England beat Lexington 4-1.
  • New England leads the series 3-1

Division series day 6

Steve Forney (17-6 3.32) vs Juan Esquerra (10-5 4.60)
Esquerra didn't allow a hit until the 4th and that was back-to-back solo HR's by Hanna (3) and Archer (2).
Forney took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the 9th but a leadoff walk and Nate Scott came on. He hit the only batter he faced before Jorge Godinez came on to close it out. An error and SB later and Bob Sheffer ties the game with a 2 out single.
Dave Nolasco comes on to PH to lead off the 10th and drills what would end up being a game-winning homer.
POTG-Steve Forney 8 IP 11 K 6 H 2 ER
Austin leads the series 3-2
  • In San Francisco, 2B Brian Loon hit a series-winning walk off HR in the bottom of the 10th.
  • San Francisco sweeps Mexico.
  • SERIES MVP-Aaron Chisholm 2 HR 6 RBI
  • Lexington got another huge outing from Bob Shrader and held on for a 4-2 win
  • New England leads the series 3-2
  • Brooklyn had just 4 hits but 2 were HR's, 1 by Alex Ochoa and C Chris Diment's 2R HR was the winner as they beat the Blackbirds 3-1.
  • Brooklyn leads the series 3-1

Division series day 8

Chris Lach (15-6 3.31) vs Jake Byers (12-13 4.02)
Game 2 rematch of what turned out to be G2 mismatch. Need big outing from Lach.
Lach was not sharp, again. But a 1st inning 2R HR from Nick Archer got things started and that held until the 6th when Chris Whitten hit his 2nd HR of the game and series. Lach walked 5 and K'd 7 in 5 innings. In the bottom of the 6th Steve Comerford, starting for his ability to shut down the run game, singled with 1 out to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Skyler Joshua punched out and Steve Bradbury made up for a season lost to the DL when he drilled a 2 out PH 3R HR to put Austin up 6-4. Scott, Lytle, Hobart got it to the 8th before Ranan Laskey came on. He managed to wiggle out of a 2 out jam in the 9th to seal the win and the series. Byers went 5.2 IP 10 K 4 BB 6 ER in the loss.
POTG-Chris Whitten
Scott (W) Byers (L) Laskey (SV)
Series MVP Jeff Hanna .429 3 HR 5 RBI 4 R
  • Tomohiro Masuda redeemed himself going 7.2 IP allowing 2 ER as Lexington evened the series at 3 apiece.
  • There's no chance I am getting to a World Series without Lexington being in the way.....
