Torn ACL injury for the Diamonds competition
This will help (presumably) the Diamonds post-season cause but not a good thing for players and the league. Guillaume was a solid mid-rotation pitcher for the Rays, but he will be out of action for more than a year.

Awesome week for the Waveriders
Le Marin had a big week of baseball winning all but one contest. I don't know what we did different, but I hope we keep it up. Personally, I had to pinch myself to make sure this season is not a dream.

Le Diamant Week
The Diamonds went 3-4. Here are the home page stats. Le Diamant has no dominant area where they can apply 'pressure' to other teams. Middle of the pack, or worse, in most categories.

Week of 17-24 for the Diamonds
A 3-3 week for Le Diamant. Herve's average is climbing. Angel Lepine, slated as the middle of the rotation guy, having the best year of all the SP's.

Cap Chevalier Waves
The Waves have been an outstanding Martinique franchise and are now asserting themselves as the team to beat. Great month for them. Their winning streak stands at an impressive 14!

Howard Beauchamp
Beauchamp's bat packs a punch and is the closest thing to cinch .300 hitter on our island.

The Week in Le Diamant
The Diamonds enjoyed a very productive week. Herve continues to produce.
However, rumor's are flying that Free Agent to be, Laurant Mercier, is balking at a 6 year deal for $150,000 per season. Work has it that he will settle for a shorter deal, but, $150 K is not going to do it. He is extremely popular in the Le Diamant area, all over the island, really, so it will be interesting to see what the team does. Compounding the angst for the GM, Yannick Siccard, the 4th OF, is very unhappy. He wants to play full time. Could it be that one of them will go?

The struggles of a 23 year old
The press, and I guess myself to some extent, tend to focus on news items that appeal to the sensational. Who has the most homers? Who has won the most games? The answers to these questions, and others, are the players that the baseball fan sees and relates to when they pick up their local newspaper, or a publication like a 'The Sporting News'.
What about the players who are having a difficult time? It's true, they sometimes get some press. Usually, in the form of a filler article when nothing 'big' is happening in the FBL. I was wondering which position player had the lowest average with over 100 AB's. It turns out he plays in the Paris system, and is the 46th rated prospect in the league. He is coming off a very successful AAA season where he posted an .893 OPS. Also, he is a signal caller behind the dish with decent catching skills. Will he make it at the top level? That's the question everyone is asking, especially in Paris where the back up catcher has an OPS of .348.

Bittersweet
Here is one of the many examples of players having a great game only to see their team lose a close one. An interesting box score and write up.

The Week in Le Marin
The offense is 'crackin' good right now. We're getting hits and scoring runs. A 4-2 week for the high riding Waveriders. I'm on a 20 game hitting streak. Seeing the ball real good these days.

DeMay da Man
Thirty year old Michael DeMay followed a 3 hit CG shutout with a CG no hitter.

The Week in Le Marin (AAA)
Just to recap our week. It was a nice 4-2 week for the Waveriders. Probably should have been 5-2, but we lost 2-0 to the Blues. Eight ducks left on the pond was the killer for us. But, we are working on getting into this pennant race.
I turned 20 just 10 days ago. Alize and I spent some time together at the ocean. It was great kicking back with her. Always nice to be playing in Martinique and having my girlfriend with me. Les Salines beach is one of our favorites and a pretty short drive for us. I'm conflicted about the rumor that I may be called up to the parent team. I mean, like who wouldn't want to play at the pro level? Yet, some days I feel like there is so much to learn. When I am in spring training I see the experience level of the older guys and what they already know. Still, I do think it would be fun. I know I have the tools to be a good player. Well, we'll cross that proverbial bridge when we get to it. OK, one more game with the sailfish tonight at 8:05 PM.

Matthiew Michel
Matthieu and I have become good friends. He is a former first round pick. We're about the same age, so we talk about our dream of playing the outfield together in Le Diamant.

Look for yourself. He is a 'can't miss'.

Leading up to the Rookie Draft
Le Diamant lost the last game in May before opening June with a 2-2 record. The race for first remains very tight in Martinique.
Herve DeLage is having a break out year at age 25. Love it.

International IAFA signed!
Patrick Beck, one of my favorite Le Diamant members of management, has landed a highly touted player from Japan. He's a sixteen year old from Tanushimaro. At sixteen it's really hard to know how a player will turn out but that was the age he selected me, too. Beck has a very good eye for assessing talent. Patrick Bour, the young SP on the Diamonds, keeps getting better and better.

The week in Le Marin
We finished off May with a W, then began June going 4-1. The race is on for the pennant.
My hitting streak was stopped at 22 when I went 0 for 3 in a game I pitched. No big deal, but I was disappointed to lose the game. Right now, my hitting might be ahead of pitching a bit. The Waveriders are now 28-28.

Le Diamant's first pick in the rookie draft
Our newest addition to the organization hails from Fort Saint Louis area on our very island of Martinique. Maxence joins the Basse-Pointe Bandits and will kick off his career tomorrow.

The team we are trying to catch
The AAA franchise owned by the Paris Artists is the team we are trying to catch. Strong on the mound, weak with the bat, the Golden Orioles play in a park that promotes high batting averages but limited extra base hits. Feuvrier, a 26 year old journeyman, is probably their toughest out. They will be in town from the 14th to the 16th. Should be interesting.
