September 22nd-September 28th

September 22nd, 2028: We opened up the series against the Braves as Jorge Flores (12-11, 3.92 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) took on Ty Madden (10-10, 3.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). Tied at 1 after 9, the Braves got 1 in the 10th, but Jarred Kelenic tied the game up in the bottom with an RBI single. In the 14th, Joe Kramer walked in a run, and then allowed a 2-run single to Jeff Houghtby, and the Braves took the opener 5-2.

Flores went 7 innings with 7 hits, a run, and 11 strikeouts. Chad Scoles struck out the side in the 9th. Ignacio Hinojos allowed a walk, hit, and run without getting an out. Kramer was charged with 3 in 0.2 innings woff 3 walks, 2 hits, and a strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-7 with a double and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-7 with an RBI. Juan Simental had a pinch hit solo homer in the 8th. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with 2 walks. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-5 with 2 walks. Isaac Nunez came off the bench and went 1-for-3.

Arizona 1B Iestyn Spreckley launced three homers out of Petco Park in a 15-7 win over the Padres.

September 23rd, 2028: We looked to even the series back up with Luis Ardon (11-5, 3.26 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) taking on Jonathan Groff (3-7, 4.25 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). We got three in the first, which was enough in the 4-2 win.

Ardon tossed 7 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, and 2 walks. Luis Alcantra struck out 1 in a perfect 8th for his 18th hold. Chad Scoles struck out the side (again) to earn his 37th save.

Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and steal. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Juan Ramirez and Jackson Miller were both 1-for-4 with an RBI.

September 24th, 2028: We looked to come on top in the rubber match, with Devon Peterson (12-9, 3.57 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on Ken Harty (10-7, 3.65 ERA, 1.07 WHIP). We've had Hary's number, as he is 0-2 with a 7.47 ERA this season. Jarred Kelenic has hit him well, 11-for-25 lifetime with a pair of homers. It was another extra inning game, and the crappy Braves beat us 6-4 to embarass us at home...

Peterson went 6 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Hinojos and Priest both allowed a hit and run with just an out a piece. Cho-yeong Hyoun got the loss, 2 hits and 2 runs in 0.2 innings.

Dewitt MacGregor was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Eric Kisela was 1-for-3 with a two run homer. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-1 with a double, run scored, and 3 walks. Daylen Lile was 1-for-5 with a solo shot.

Luckily, tomorrow was off day, before we'd finish the season with two road series.

September 25th, 2028: Well, it wasn't pretty, but we officially clinched a playoff spot. At 95-61, we have a 4 game lead over the Phillies, who own the 2nd Wild Card spot.

We moved up a spot to third in the Power Rankings as well.

Kris Bryant recorded his 2,000th career hit in his first season with Seattle. The 36-year-old is a career .268/.369/.509 hitter with 450 homers and 1,252 RBI's.

We're off to Tampa for three with the first place Rays. We'd see Nehemiah Adenrian (4-6, 2.73 ERA), Eric Walker (9-6, 4.65 ERA), and Chad Whye (1-3, 6.17 ERA).

September 25th, 2028: I recalled C.J. Jorgensen from his rehab assignment. He'd jump into the rotation and start today against the more successful Adenrian brother, Nehemiah (4-6, 2.73 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). We put up 5 in the second and finished the Rays off for a 6-4 win.

Jorgensen went 4.1 innings with 3 hits, 42 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts on a 65 pitch count (he threw 66 shame on Boone...). Sam Minniefield went 2.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and a strikeout to get the win. Luis Alcantra and Ignacio Hinojos got holds and Chad Scoles picked up the win.

Ian Happ was 2-for-3 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a double, walk, and 2 RBI's. Daylen Lile was 2-for-2 with a run scored, walk, hit by pitch, and sac-fly. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double, hit by pitch, run scored, and RBI.

September 27th, 2028: The Seattle Mariners are headed to the postseaosn. At 89-69, they will return to the postseason after taking a year off last year.

A few players will not pitch for the rest of the year: Brady Singer (Boston), Arturo Gastelum (Oakland), and Shiro Hiraki (Toronto).

We looked to tie our single season win record (and match the last two seasons) with Jake Florence (9-2, 3.63 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) taking on Chad Whye (1-3, 6.17 ERA, 1.80 WHIP). We rallied for 11 runs to take the middle game 11-6.

Daylen Lile left with a strained abdominal muscle, and with the season all, but wrapped up, I'd bench him for the rest of the year so he'll be ready for the postseason.

Chris Reid was 3-for-4 with 3 runs, 4 RBI's, a walk, steal, and two homers. Sergio Tello hit the first two homers of his career, going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI's and 2 walks. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 wtih 2 runs, a hit by pitch, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and a double.

September 28th, 2028: We were officially named NL East Champions. The Cincinnati Reds officially clinched a playoff spot. At 95-63, they have a 2 game lead over the Cardinals.

We looked to finish the sweep with Jorge Flores (12-11, 3.83 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) taking on Jacob Faria (10-10, 6.42 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) who's had really the first bad year of his long career. Tied at 4 headed to the 9th, Sergio Tello hit a 2-run double to give us a 6-4 lead that Scoles would hold. This would be our franchise best 98th win!

Flores went 6 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos allowed a solo homer to the only batter he faced. Riley Ferrell got the win, finishing the 8th with a three pitch strikeout. Scoles needed just 5 pitches to record the save.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Noah Smith was 3-for-4 with a double and run scored. Mike Sinai was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and a run scored. Jarred Kelenic had a pinch hit single in the 9th and later scored.

Braves CF Manuell Marinho increased his hit streak to 20 games. Rangers 3B Hueston Morrill hit for the cycle in a 8-6 win over the Angels.

Three left! We're off to Philadelphia, and shockingly still have a chance to win 100 if we take two of three. We'll face Chad Afghani (13-8, 3.92 ERA), Jim Gilbert (12-6, 3.33 ERA), and Cullen Dana (12-4, 2.86 ERA).

September 29th-October 2nd

September 29th, 2028: Palban Gamboa his headed to the major league club after being activated from the DL.

We opened the series in Philadelphia against the likely 2nd Wild Card team. Steve Paustian (15-6, 3.61 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) got the ball against Chad Afghani (13-8, 3.92 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). We got three in the 8th and gave back 2 in the 9th, but we ended up on top 5-3.

Juan Ramirez left with back tightness, and I'd bench him for the rest of the regular season.

Paustian went 7 innings with 4 hits, a run, and 8 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos allowed a walk and two run homer to the two batters he faced. Chad Scoles got the save, walking 1 and striking out 2.

Juan Ramirez, was 2-for-3 with a homer, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a hit by pitch. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Eric Kisela had a pinch hit double in the 8th. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch and run scored.

Braves CF Manuell Marinho's hit streak was ended by the Cardinals at 20 games.

September 30th, 2028: The Minnesota Twins have clinched the AL Central. At 89-71, they have a 4 game lead over the Tigers who are fighting for a playoff spot. This will be thier 7th straight posteason appearence, the most consecutive current streak in the AL (second to yours truly in the majors).

The Texas Rangers have also clinched a spot. At 89-71, they are 1 game behind the Marienrs for first, but will at least be a Wild Card. They haven't made it since 2024.

The Phillies have also clinched a playoff spot. At 92-68, they will make the postseason for the second straight year.

The St. Louis Cardinals will also make the playoffs. At 93-66 and 2.5 back, It's there first postseason appearence since 2015.

The Padres fired manager Dave Martinez after seven teams with the teams. He was 61-99 this year, and has a career 856-924 record.

We looked to win our 100th of the season with Devon Peterson (12-9, 3.55 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on Jim Gilbert (12-6, 3.33 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). It was a close one, but we topped them 4-3.

And that's win 100!

Peterson went 7.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, and 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got a hold and allowed a hit and run in 0.1 innings. Chad Scoles got the save, an inning with a strikeout.

Noah Smith was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, a double, and 2 steals. Ian Happ was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic went 2-for-5 with a steal. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and RBI.

Red Sox 3B Garrett Blaylock was 5-for-5 in a 14-9 win over the Indians.

October 1st, 2028: More postseason news: The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are both headed to the playoffs. At 87-74, they are tied for first with a game left in the regular season.

The Detroit Tigers aren't as lucky, and their 85-76 record isn't enough to make the postseason. They've been to the playoffs jsut once (2025) since 2015.

The Reds clinched the NL at 97-64. They have a 2.5 game lead over St. Louis.

The Dodgers (85-76) have been eliminated from the postseason and the Giants (87-74) have clinched the West. It's their first playoff appearence since 2016.

Game 162 took place between C.J. Jorgensen (0-0, 4.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) and Cullen Dana (12-4, 2.86 ERA). It wasn't even close, and they crushed us 11-2.

Well, 100-62 is pretty, pretty solid if I do say so myself.

See Mr. Kurchna (Miami Owner), this is what happens when you don't force me to slash my payroll!

Jorgensen tossed 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs (1 earned), a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed 2 runs off 2 hits in 0.2 innings. Luis Alcantra went 0.1 innings with a hit, a run, and strikeout. Joe Kramer went 0.1 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, and a walk in an elite outing...

For someone so talented, he's really sucked int he Majors (17 runs in 16.2 innings in parts of 3 seasons).

Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI, and steal. Ian Happ was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. Jorgensen was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Roberto Pena was 1-for-5 with a run scored and steal. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.

Off to the postseason (almost)!

October 2nd, 2028: Jordan Montgomery is back on the active roster, a day after the season ended.

We ended the season as the 2nd Ranked team in the Power Rankings. Our 100-62 record is just 3 games better then the impressive Reds.

Leonel Olvera was named American Confrence Pitcher of the Year. At 12-1, he had a 2.80 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 115.2 innings. He had 8 first place votes and 88 total points.

The Red Sox (88-74) and Mariners (91-71) won their respective divisions with the Rays (87-75) and Rangers (90-72) finishing as the Wild Cards. The post season is officially set as well.

On to the playoffs!

Wild Card and Divisional Series

October 3rd, 2028: The postseason officially starts today!

I earned the achievement "Most Pitching Wins" for Steve Paustian's 16 wins.

Here's how the postseason picture looks:

American League:
AL East: Boston Red Sox (88-74)
AL Central: Minnesota Twins (89-73)
AL West: Seattle Mariners (91-71)
Wild Card Host: Texas Rangers (90-72)
Wild Card Guest: Tampa Bay Rays (87-75)

National League:
NL East: Miami Marlins (100-62)
NL Central: Cincinnati Reds (97-65)
NL West: San Francisco Giants (88-74)
Wild Card Host: St. Louis Cardinals (95-67)
Wild Card Guest: Philadelphia Phillies (93-69)

October 4th, 2028: We start with the NL Wild Card Game, a.k.a. the game to lose to the Marlins in the NLDS. Lenny Torres took the mound for the Cardinals against Dursun Erbakan of the Phillies. Despite a great outing for Erbakan, the Cards won 6-1. Erbakan went 6 innings with 2 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Torres went 5.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Ezequiel Galaraza hit a pinch hit two run homer in the 7th.

October 5th, 2028: The Rays were in Texas for the AL Wild Card game as Jacob Faria faced Dan Scott. Faria tossed 6 innings with 4 hits, a run, a walk, and 8 strikeouts in a 6-1 win. Matt Walner was 1-for-3 with a walk and three run homer, while Anderson Franco was 1-for-4 with a three run homer of his own.

October 6th, 2028: The NLDS starts, and the Cardinals are in Town for the first two of the five game sest. Jorge Flores (12-11, 3.81 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) started game 1 against 23-year-old Juan Sevilla (13-10, 5.08 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) who has Cy Young potential, but back of the rotation current talent. Flores is an impressive 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA against the Cardinals this year... He gave up 4 in the first, and it looked awful. We got 2 in the 4th, but were down 4-2 entering the 9th. We managed to tied it up to force extras, jsut for Corbin Carroll to get a go-ahead RBI single in the 10th for the 5-4 win.

Yay...

I think we've lost like 5 straight postseason games...

Flores managed to finish 4 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, and 5 strikeouts. Jaime Priest tossed 3 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Chad Scoles got the loss, an inning with 2 hits, a run, and strikeout.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Juan Simental had a pinch hit solo shot in the 9th. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a walk.

In the other NLDS match, the Giants topped the Reds 12-9, despite impressive performances from Petey Halpin (3-for-5 with a homer, 2 RBI's, and 3 runs) and Jamie Zerger (1-for-3 with a walk, 2 runs, and three run homer). Giants LF Vincente Sanchez was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, a homer, 2 runs, and 6 RBI's.

October 7th, 2028: Four games today, as we looked to even the series with Devon Peterson (13-9, 3.54 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) taking on Luis Manzano (13-10, 3.98 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). Well, today sucked, and we lost 4-3. We're headed to St. Louis down 2-0...

Peterson went 7 innings with 8 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 10 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra allowed a hit and walk with 2 strikeouts.

Chris Reid did all he could, 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4. Peterson was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

The Reds evened the series with a 16-9 win over the Giants. Rafael Devers was 3-for-5 with a double, 5 RBI's, and a run scored. Tyler Callihan was 3-for-5 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 4 RBI's Dave Morgan was 4-for-5 with a double, 3 runs, and 2 RBI's.

The AL consisted of a 8-0 Twins shutout of the Red Sox and a Rays 6-2 win over the Mariners.

At least tomorrow is off...

October 8th, 2028: The AL had the stage, and both series ended up tied at 1. So just we suck...

The Red Sox topped the Twins 5-2. Bryce Harper was 2-for-3 with a homer, 4 RBI's, and a walk. The Mariners beat the Rays 7-2. Luis Flores tossed 7 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeotus in the win. Janisel Rivera was 2-for-3 with a homer and 3 RBI's.

October 9th, 2028: Could this be it? Jake Florence (9-2, 3.79 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) took on Lenny Torres (5-6, 3.50 ERA, 0.99 WHIP; 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP) as the Cardinals look to finish the sweep at home. After 100 wins in the regular season, we couldn't win one stinking game in the playoffs. The Cardinals got 4 in the 9th, including a walk-off two run homer by Rodolfo Medrano in a 8-7 win to send the World Series favorites home without winning a game...

I'm too upset to finish writing...

We've lost out last 7 postseason games...

How does that happen!?!?!!?

We haven't won a series (not counting the 2025 Wild Card Game) since we won the World Series in 2024!

Man this blows...

Rest of the Stupid Playoffs...

Good thing for expansion after the year ends, or I would've given up right here...

Half joking, I can never quit on a crappy note like this...

Here's the rest of the 2028 playoffs:

Divisional Series:
Cardinals over Marlins 3-0
Reds over Giants 3-1
Twins over Red Sox 3-1
Mariners over Rays 3-2

Championship Series:
Cardinals over Reds 4-3
Twins over Mariners 4-3

World Series:
Cardinals over Twins 4-3

Okay, I hate the Cardinals now, but man was this impressive. The Cardinals went down 3-0, and had to win game four in Minnesota. Not only did they win game four to make things interesting, they won the last three as well to come back from a crazy 3-0 deficit to win the 2028 World Series. My former player Rodolfo Medrano was named MVP, and other former Marlins in Logan Gragg (minors), Joe LaBrie, Jian-ying Niu, and personal favorite Thomas Dillard won rings.

Roster Moves:
October 19th, 2028: I had to activate Joseph Jarneski from the 60, so I released impending Free Agent Riley Ferrell.

The offseason is next, and expansion will occur once Free Agents file!

Awards, Arbitration, and Pre-Free Agency

November 4th, 2028: Okay, so obviously, I've go some things that need to happen in the offseason because I want to win a playoff game, let alone a World Series.

It'll be a bit harder, as Jake Florence decided to opt-out. Re-signing him will be a pain, and I'm going to have to bite the bullet and let him file.

I executed Trevor Gott's $2.4 million option instead of executing the $240,000 buyout.

My new budget is $212 million, good for 23rd in the league. So obviously it sucks, but at least it did go up a bit.

My personal contract was extended 2 years for $1.9 million a year.

I almost accidentally traded C.J. Jorgensen to the Royals for Jeff Hormann. Hormann doesn't suck by any means, but it would have been an awful deal. Luckily, the escape key overrided the accidental enter when I clicked "Accept" instead of "Reject" when moving to fast...

The Indians fired longtime GM Mike Chernoff. He's been in charge since 2018, and went to five straight postseasons. Since 2023, however, they've sucked, and he got the pink slip.

The Brewers fired first year GM Nate Byrnes. He was the Winnipeg Goldeyes GM last year, and lead the Brewers to a 59-103 record this year. They also fired manager Norm Charlton who was in his first year after spending 2022-2027 with none other then the Indians.

Colroado fired GM Tony Reagnis. He was in charge since 2021, and made the playoffs in 2022 and 2027, but the Rockies took a huge step back this year, finishing 68-94.

The Padres fired rookie GM Lindsay Rosenberg. He was 61-101 in his only season.

Arbitration:
RP Luis Alcantra (1-year, $1,990,000)
RP Ignacio Hinojos (1-year, $3,890,000)
RP Jamie Priest (1-year, $2,780,000)
2B Deshawn Hardamon (Could have traded him for the fragile and costly superstar Benni Vogl, but I instead non-tendered him)
2B Noah Smith (1-year, $5,450,000)
3B Chris Reid (1-year, $16,370,000): He wanted 5 years and a lot of money, but I wasn't willing to break the bank on a declining defender
SS Isaac Nunez (1-year, $5,950,000)
SS Jon Reid (1-year, $2,150,000)
CF Daylen Lile (1-year, $8,350,000)
RF Jarred Kelenic (1-year, $19,360,000): Wanted 9-years, but I wasn't willing to dish that out for a fragile almost 30-year-old
RF Mike Siani (1-year, $1,094,000)

Extended the qualifying offer to Jake Florence, looked to extend Mac Horvath and Jordan Montgomery. Horvath for his skill, Monty for his leadership, consistency, and since he's my favorite player in this world. He's been a Marlin since 2019, and even with his skill decline, he's a valuable team figure.

Ian Happ, Jorge Flores, and Blayne Enlow will file for free agency. I wish I could extend or qualify Flores (midseason trade), but he wants a ton of cash, $179 million for 5 years...

November 7th, 2028: Change of plans on Enlow: I'm extending him cheap and am using him as expansion bait. Worst case, I have a very cheap and effective long man with killer stuff.

November 12th, 2028: Enlow and Horvath both extended. Enlow 3 years for $1.9 million a year, Horvath 5-years, $12 million a year with a player option on 2033. Yesterday was his 31st birthday, so consider it a late gift.

What's crazy though, is for a player with a ton of talent like Horvath, his skill set isn't really profitable. No power (20 doubles and 4 homers), ton of walks (128 to lead the legaue), and excellent defense isn't really what gives you a ton of money. His .418 OBP towers over his .329 slugging, and his .059 ISO is laughable (Devon Peterson has a .044, Luis Ardon .070, and Jake Florence .078).

Isaac Nunez was named the 2028 Gold Glove winner at shortstop, the third of his career.

November 13th, 2028: Blue Jays CL Sergio Morales (30, 150) and Cardinals CL Dana White (30, 150) were named unanimous Relievers of the Year. Chad Scoles (9) picked up a few points for one reason or another.

November 14th, 2028: Jarred Kelenic won the Platinum Stick for NL right fielders. It's the second of his career, and he managed to stay healthy the whole year and hit .337/.425/.523 with 18 homers and 75 RBI's.

November 15th, 2028: Mariners 1B Alex Brewer (24, 131) and Pirates CF Emeka Longs (23, 133) were named Rookie of the Years.

The Giants swapped 1B Zhao-jun Ou-yang and 1B Andy Voigt to the Rockies for RHP Eric Warren. I like this trade for the Rockies, and Ou-yang should hit really well at Coors.

November 16th, 2028: Jordan Montgomery finally signed his extension. He'll make $2.8 million all three years. The first yera guaranteed, the 2nd a team option, the third a 40 inning vesting option. Heading into this contract, he's made a nice $148,415,000 in his 12 year career.

Twins Manager Christian Finley and Cardinals Manager Barrett Dail were named Manager of the Year.

November 17th, 2028: Mariners ace Sergio Barreto (13, 142) and no-hit Reds wonderkid Esteban Aguirre (30, 210) were named Cy Young winners. Jorge Flores (13) and Devon Peterson (2) got a few pitty votes.

November 18th, 2028: Mariners RF Janisel Rivera (30, 420) and Phillies 1B Xavier Carter (30, 420) were unanimous MVP's, with Carter winning the triple crown (.338, 61 HR, 129 RBI). Juan Ramirez (162) was 4th with other Marlins Jarred Kelenic (80) and Chris Reid (19) getting some mentions.

November 26th, 2028: Jake Florence declined the qualifying option and will likely make a huge sum of money that will never equate to the experience of remaining a Marlin. Sadly for Florence, and likely whoever gives him way to much money, is on the decline. He's still a stud, don't get me wrong, but in a few years he will likely not be worth the money.

The hall of fame voting starts today, and here's my ballot:

1B Miguel Cabrera
2B Robinson Cano
SP Zack Greinke
SP Felix Hernandez
LF Matt Holliday
RF Nick Markakis
RP Andrew Miller
C Yadir Molina
C Buster Posey
SP Max Scherzer

I wanted to vote for Justin Verlander and Joey Votto too, but Miller and Markakis need the votes much more. Neither of the V's will drop, and could get in without me.

Free Agents file tomorrow! And expansion is announced with the draft the day after!

Free Agent Filing and Expansion!

November 27th, 2028: Free Agents file today, and here are the top 10!

RHP Edwin Diaz
LHP Jorge Flores
LF Michael Conforto
RHP Jake Florence
3B Kennan Pulsifer
1B Andy Bostic
SS Jonathan Guzman
CF Ron Burk
RF Austin Hays
LHP Jairo Labourt

Usually this is the biggest news of the offseason, but instead, the biggest news is expansion is announced today! Here are the four teams entering the Major Leaugue, the first expansion since 1998:

Washington Senators (AL East)
Seattle Pilots (NL West)
Boston Doves (NL East)
Montreal Expos (NL Central)

Each team can protect 25 players, with all players less then 4 service years protected, and a maximum of 5 picks from each team.

A few teams are moving around as well:
San Diego Padres (NL West to AL West)
Cleveland Indians (AL Central to AL East)
Toronto Blue Jays (AL East to AL Central)

All the division now have 6 teams except the NL West and AL Central. They will get a 6th team in a few more years with more expansion.

A lot of minor league movement as well:

Winnipeg Goldeyes (AAA): Independent to Expos
Clinton Pilots (AAA): Idependent to Pilots
Albany Senators (AAA): Independent to Senators
St. Paul Saints (AAA): Independent to Doves
Huntsville Stars (AA): Independent to Pilots
Scranton Miners (AA): Independent to Doves
Memphis Blues (AA): Independent to Expos
Little Rock Travelers (AA): Independent to Senators
West Palm Beach Expos (A+): Independent to Expos
Orlando Bulldogs (A+): Independent to Senators
Peninsula Pulots (A+): Independent to Pilots
Wilson Tobs (A+): Independent to Doves
Gastonia Expos (A): Founded by Montreal
Burlington Bees (A): Angels to Pilots
Wisconsin Rapids Senators (A): Founded by Senators
Peoria Chiefs (A): Cardinals to Angels
Columbus Cardinals (A): Founded by the Cardinals
Appleton Foxes (A): Founded by the Doves
Jameston Falcons (A-): Founded by the Expos
Geneva Sentaors (A-): Founded by the Senators
Yakima Braves (A-): Founded by the Braves
Bellingham Mariners (A-): Founded by the Mariners
Everett AquaSox (A-): Mariners to Pilots
Seattle N (GCL) Pilots (R): Founded by Pilots
Washington A (GCL) Senators (R): Founded by the Senators
Montreal (GCL) Expos (R): Founded by the Expos
Boston N (GCL) Doves (R): Founded by the Doves

Next season, the expansion teams will likely get both a GCL team and an extra Rookie League Team.

The Amateur Pool Orgini adjusted as well:

American: 93.51 to 92.57
Puerto Rican: 3.50 to 3.47
Canadian: 2.99 to 3.96

I had to set my protected list, and this is who I chose to protect:

RP Ayden Hardemon
C Jackson Miller
LF Juan Ramirez
CL Chad Scoles
RP Luis Alcantra
C Pat Hughes
RF Jarred Kelenic
CF Daylen Lile
SS Isaac Nunez
3B Chris Reid
RF Palban Gamboa
SP Ignacio Hinojos
1B Mac Horvath
SP C.J. Jorgensen
3B Eric Kisela
RP Joe Kramer
SP Devon Peterson
RP Jamie Priest
2B Jon Reid
2B Noah Smith
LF Sergio Tello
SP Steve Paustian
SP Luis Ardon

Here's who I expect to be taken:
RP Blayne Enlow
RP Trevor Gott
RP Alfredo Herrera
C Dermott MacGregor
2B Nesty Cirese
RP Leonel Olvera

Although, the AI never ceases to amaze me, so who knows...

The draft is tomorrow!

November 28th, 2028: Before the draft, the Indians and Angels made a swap. The Indias acquired LF Jeff Del Vecchio and the Angels will recieve RHP Stephen Ridings and RHP Jonathan Chott. I like this deal both ways.

I talked to both Enlow and Gott before the draft, explaining that I left them unprotected so they could be the face of one of the two new franchises, and that I'd love to have them, but wanted to give them a great option to succeed.

The 35 round serpentine draft would start with the Seattle Pilots, followed by the Boston Doves, Montreal Expos, and Washington Senators. Let's just say that there are actually a decent amount of quality players available for the four fledgling franchises. I'll cover the first couple rounds, and then just notable players:

1st Round, 1st Overall: 2B Daniel Bautista (SEP): There are a ton of 4.5 and better potential pitchers, and the Pilots go with a 1* infielder from teh White Sox...

1st Round, 2nd Overall: SP Josh Sparks (BSN): Better pick here, rated a 1.5/2* as a starter, but higher as a reliever. He's a former 2nd Round Pick of the Rays.

1st Round, 3rd Overall: LF Johnanser Pointer (MON): The Rays have taken two hits, losing the solid defensive and speedy outfielder. He's rated just a 0.5/1.5.

1st Round, 4th Overall: RP Steve Hudson (WSH): Finally a good pick! A former 3rd Rounder of the Nationals, Hudson is rated a 3.5/3.5 as a reliever and he can play a little outfield as well.

2nd Round, 5th Overall: RP Noel Morgan (WSH): Back to back picks for the Senators, as they went with a 2.5/3 lefty from Oakland. He was a 2nd round pick of theirs.

2nd Round, 6th Overall: 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (MON): Well, I gess they wanted the Canadian. This would've been a good pick years a go, but now he's a washed up 29-year-old owed 55% of $264,000,000 for the next four seasons. First player selected with connection to me.

2nd Round, 7th Overall: LF Aydan Tomiak (BSN): Former 21st Overall Pick by the Phillies out of the University of Central Florida. He's rated a 1.5/1.5, but really is nothing special.

2nd Round, 8th Overall: 2B Tristan Hanoian (SEP): Another former player of mine. Hanoian is rated a 1.5/1.5 and came from Boston.

3rd Round, 9th Overall: RP Blayne Enlow (SEP): The Pilots made a smart choice, selecting 3.5/3.5 righty Blayne Enlow from the Miami Marlins. He's going to flourish with the Pilots as a leader and will be a very affordable piece for them.

3rd Round, 10th Overall: 1B Harvin Mendoza (BSN): Back to bad picks, a 1* first basemen from the Rays. That's three of the Rays six players taken already. And none of them are good.

3rd Round, 11th Overall: RP Aydan McFarlen (MON): A 3/3 Canadian from the Yankees organization. He was a 13th Round selection of theirs.

3rd Round, 12th Overall: RP Charlie Dickison (WSH): A 1.5/2 from the Reds, Dickison is a former 2nd rounder of the Mariners.

That's enough bad picks for now...

4th Round: LF Jaheim Tyes (MON): My second player selected

5th Round: SP Zach Linginfelter (SEP): The third of my players selected
5th Round: RP Alfredo Herrera (WSH): The fourth of my players selected

7th Round: LF Conner Capel (WSH): Former Marlin minor leaguer

9th Round: 3B Roberto Pena (BSN): My fifth player selected
9th Round: LF Tyrese Ephron (MON): Former Marlin who spent 18 games with us in 2027.

11th Round: RP Trevor Gott (SEP): The last of my players selected. A good selection by the Pilots.

16th Round: RP Greg Walston (SEP): Another former Marlin.

17th Round: CF Christian Franklin (MON): Former Marlins outfielder.

18th Round: RP Josh Watson (SEP): Former Marlin reliever.

21st Round: SS Logan Warmouth (WSH): Former Marlin minor leaguer.
21st Round: RP Sanshiro Onuma (SEP): Former Marlin reliever.

24th Round: 1B Keston Hiura (SEP): Former Marlin second basemen.
24th Round: 2B Jose Israel Garcia (MON): Former Marlins shortstop.

25th Round: RP Marco Jimenez (BSN): Former Marlin reliever

32nd Round: RP Ernesto Estrella (BSN): Former 2018 draft pick of mine that played with us.

My 40-Man roster is now down to 40, which is nice, since I can purchase the contracts of SP Chris Bigsby, C Pat Hughes, SS Rogelio Maldonado, and LF Bob Poulson.

On to the rest of the Free Agency!

Free Agency Pt. 1

November 28th, 2028: So Free Agency starts today, well yesterday, but it was the Expansion Draft, which took all the headlines. I've got a few needs, mainly in the bullpen, but the Free Agents available aren't really good. I'm likely to pick pieces on the new expansion teams, since they want something I have, prospects.

November 30th, 2028: The Houston Astros acquired 1B Kevin Martin from the Pirates for 2B Trevor Hauver. It's a really good deal for the Astros.

December 1st, 2028: I gave the Seattle Pilots their first trade in MLB history (well, this go around), sending SP Jared Jackson and 1B Sean Taylor their way for RP Josh Brown (100% Retained).

Brown, a lefty, is rated a 4* with 100 rated stuff, plus movement, and average control. He's an extreme groundballer who tossed 96-98 with his sinker. A former 3rd Rounder of the Diamondbacks, the Pilots selected him in the 8th Round of the expansion draft. He's got a career 3.29 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 144 saves in 374.1 innings. He's struck out 519 hitters and walked 168.

Jackson becomes their #1 prospect and Taylor their #2.

December 5th, 2028: The Dodgers made a huge splash, signing 3B Kennan Pulsifer to a 5-year, $42 million per year contract with an opt out after the 2030 season. The former #1 Overall Pick in 2018, he has a career .309/.365/.563 stat lilne with 197 homers and 576 RBI's. Montreal fans would have hoped the Calgary native would go to his hometown, but his contract is over half their current payroll.

December 8th, 2028: I gave the Expos their first new trade, sending SP Dan Lesser, 3B Rodolfo Navarro, RF Clint Springer, and SP Jorge Luna their way for CL Gene Hall (90% retained).

Hall, 28, is a 4* righty reliever 100 stuff and an arsenal of two elite pitches and a plus-plus pitch. He can hit triple digits with his fastball and cutter, but has just avergae control and movement. The 6'9'' from Pensylvania was a former 10th Roudn pick of the Orioles back in 2022, but spent the past five seasons pitching with the Royals before getting selected in the 18th Round by the Expos. He has a career 3.20 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 139 saves in 298.1 innings with 413 strikeouts and 137 walks.

Navarro becomes their #5 prospect, Lesser #6, Luna #7, and Springer #8.

December 11th, 2028: The Cubs made a big splash, signing star SS Rece Hinds to a 6-year, $223,000,000 contract with an opt-out after year three. The 28-year-old has a .269/.339/.438 career line with 91 homers, 375 RBI's, and a Gold Glove in 2027.

December 12th, 2028: A pair of outfielders signed today:

Arizona signed LF Michael Confortoto a 3-year, $23.4 million per year deal, with the final year a 135 game vesting option. In his long career with the Mets and Rangers, he has a .263/.360/.513 line in 5,459 at bats with 415 homers and 1,156 RBI's.

The Tigers signed RF Austin Hays to a 4-year, $56.4 million deal with the final season a 550 Plate Apperaence vesting option. He was also a Ranger last year, as they'll have work to do in the corner outfield. Hays has had injury problems, and hasn't topped 550 since 2023, but he has a nice .283/.323/.489 line with 258 homers and 810 RBI's.

December 13th, 2028: A day before the Winter Meetings, the Rangers acquired RHP Nolan Kingham and 3B Juan Paz from the Athletics for LF Sam Sarer and CF Tim Curtis. I like this deal for the Rangers.

December 14th, 2028: The Winter Meetings start today!

Let's just say, it was a busy day!

The first newsworthy item was the Royals signing SP Jhoan Duran. He agreed to a 7-year, $85.5 million deal with the final year a 25 games started vesting option. The 30-year-old has started more then 30 games every year in his career, and seems like a lock to reach that. He owns a career 63-100 record with a 4.39 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.

The Cubs double finessed, signing two of my former players, Jake Florence and Jorge Flores. Yes, they traded him (just for Jared Taylor mnid you) just to bring him back home.

Florence, 30, will get a 5-year, $26.2 million per year deal. The former #1 Overall Pick has a 75-57 record with a 4.08 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and he's struck out 927 batters in 1,141.2 innings. Not gonig to lie, I really thought he had better numbers... Anyways, I'd get a compensationi pick for his signing.

Flores, 35, will get $83 million for three years, with the final year a 180 innings pitched vesting option. A durable starter like Florence, he's toopped that mark every year except 2026 where he had just 179.2. I'd expect a lawsuit if they kept him at that total for 2030. Flores has a 93-51 career record in 234 career starts with a 3.34 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 1,544 strikeouts.

Next comes the trades, starting with the Phillies sending CF Phil Fahy and 2B Greg Stuart to the Tigers for RHP Charles Kings. It's a good deal with the slight advantage to the Tigers.

The Yankees shipped CF Joe Brewer to the Rays for RHP Jared Jackson and LF Caleb Matthews. It looks like a steal for the Yankees.

Lastly, Milwaukee sent 1B Drew Mendoza to the Royals for RHP Jonathan Skolnik. Skolnik sucks, but so do the Brewers, so this makes sense, sending away a "rental" for a prospect.

Of course, I had to make a deal. I sent RF Mike Siani to the Washington Senators for RHP C.J. LaFever, and then purchased the contract of Jeremy Reller from AAA.

LaFever, 27, is a durable righty rated a 4/4.5 with elite stuff, plus movement, and plus-plus control. He throws 95-97 with his top notch fastball and he does a really good job keeping the ball on the ground. He was a former 11th Rounder from the Pirates, and he spent the past four years with them, working to a 3.56 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 258 strikeouts in 285.2 innings. He broke out in 2028, with a 1.77 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts in 81.1 innings. For some reason he was left unprotected, and went to the Sens with their 16th Round selection.

My 40 is now up to 39, but my pen looks really strong.

December 15th, 2028: Lot's of trades today in day two:

The Nationals acquired 1B Steve Sparks and RHP Kevin Butner from the Astros for SS Luis Victoriano Garcia, LF Arturo Barrera, and cash considerations. It's an even deal, but advantage to the cash recipiants.

The Orioles acquired SP Steven Gingery and RF Jorge Chapa from the Diamondbacks for 2B Jeremy Burns and 1B Jimmy Decker. It's a nice deal for both teams.

The Dodgers sent RHP Forrest Whitley and a ton of cash to the Phillies for 1B Spencer Jones and SS Sam Samuelson. I really like this deal for the Dodgers, but the Phillies do get a ton of cash.

December 26th, 2028: The Brewers sent RHP Victor R. Diaz and RHP Tim Tusa to the Astros for 3B Luis Villarreal. Pure salary dump with Villarreal the worst player involved.

I hit the last of the expansion teams, the Boston Doves, with a sweet deal. I acquired RHP Jake Yearick for pitchers Steve Keller, Leonel Olvera, and Eric Richer.

Yearick, 26, is another stud reliever, rated a 4/4.5 with elite stuff and plus movement. He consistently hits 98-100 with his 98/100 rated fastball and he drops a plus curveball on batters which is near unhittable. All this while keeping the ball on the ground. He's got a team-first attitude, and will be a force to reckon with. A former 1st Round selection by the Pirates, I don't know why he was left unprotected, let alone why 70 other players were selected before him. With the Twins, he didn't have the most success, a 4.56 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 124.1 innings spanning the past two seasons.

My "expansion pen" is rated the best in baseball, ranked #1 for CL (Chad Scoles) and RP (C.J. LaFever).

While I was searching under the "Meet the Team" I noticed that Jordan Montgomery is the All-Time leading Marlin for strikeouts with 1,015. He could top Ricky Nolasco's win record of 81, but I don't know how much he has left in the tank.

December 17th, 2028: The Winter Meetings edned today with a big signing. SS Jonathan Guzman announced he'd join the Mets on a 6-year, $36.5 million per year deal with an opt-out after the 2032 season. A long time Athletic, he has a .271/.360/.408 triple slash with 102 homers, 435 RBI's, and two Gold Gloves.

I had to make a bigger move, of course, and ended the Winter Meetings with a blockbuster:

I sent LF Sergio Serrano, RHP Jeremy Reller, LF Bob Poulson, RF Palban Gamboa, and RHP Jamie Casady to the Tigers for RHP Pat Saitta and SS Andy Hedemark.

Yep, a lot to unpack here:

Okay, so if we are being honest, I had to get Saitta, even if it meant giving up three 4.5* prospects (Serrano, Reller, and Poulson). He's a 4.5* durable, 27-year-old, 81 stamina starter with 100 rated stuff, 5 pitches (two elite, a plus-plus, plus, and below average), groundballer who can hit 96-98 consistently and has 4 years of team control. Even with that, I plan on locking him up ASAP even though his big league numebrs aren't that great. The former 3rd Overall Pick is 21-20 with a 4.10 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 434 strikeouts in 360.1 innings, but every advanced metric loves him. He's got great K/9 and BB/9 numbers with solid FIP's and I know all his other metrics would love him as well. He's poised to break out, and I need an ace.

And he'll accept a monster 7-year, $167,010,000 deal to be the face of the Marlins for the forseeable future.

Even though Hedemark is a throw in, don't call him that. He's got 3* potential and will turn into an elite defensive shortstop with a solid bat. He's got Isaac Nunez with less homers, but more doubles, in his future. The former 13th Round pick is just 21, but has already shown a ton of positive development.

Okay, I think that's enough block busting for one offseason...

The rotation of Saitta, Peterson, Jorgensen, Paustian, Ardon looks pretty solid, but I may need to add a lefty starter, with all five being righties. The pen is rich with lefties, however, so I should be fine.

December 21st, 2028: The Siatta deal was officially announced today. A deal to "raise a few eyebrows" GM Anthony Yaghmour explained: "The Jake Florence deal raised some eyebrows too, and now he's making a trillion dollars ($131 million) with the Cubs. I think I know what I'm doing here."

I also purchased the contract of Juan Maya to protect him from the Rule-5 Draft that is coming up tomorrow. My roster now sits at 38 of 40.

December 21st, 2028: Today is the Rule-5 Draft! I went with 22-year-old catcher Jorge Tapia from the Rays organization. He's rated a 1/4.5 with plus catcher abilities, plus power, and plus-plus gap power. He's got a ton of upside, but might not be fully ready for the big leagues.

I lost RF Joe Weigland to the Braves and LF Juan Morales and LF Omari Tetteh to Arizona. Probably should have protected or traded Tetteh, but I must've not noticed him.

December 23rd, 2028: The Mariners sent a RHP Josh Proctor and SS Luis Argueta to the Diamondbacks to re-acquire C Kurtis Byrne. It's a real nice deal for Arizona, who claimed Byrne off waivers from Seattle on the 21st of April.

December 27th, 2028: I claimed 1B Danny Canfield off waivers from the Diamondbacks and sent him to AAA New Orleans. He's a former 4th Round Pick of the Cardinals and rated a 1.5/2.5.

December 29th, 2028: I made a big Free Agent signing for the first time in maybe ever, adding 1B Gregorio "Rat Race" Alvarenga to a 5-year, $71 million contract with the final year a team option. A long time Met, the light hitting lefty has a career .294/.398/.387 line with 135 steals and 366 RBI's.

This gives me a nice roster log jam, and prepares me for Chris Reid leaving at the end of next year. It also gives me injury insurance since Jarred Kelenic and Isaac Nunez both have their issues. Alvarenga can play all 7 positions to help keep the regulars rested.

The Tigers signed CL Jandel Gustave to a 3-year, $35.2 million deal with a 40 games finished vesting option in the final year. He has 161 career saves with a 2.96 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 727 innings.

The Twins acquired RHP Fitz Stadler and SS Jamari Wimby from the Tigers for LF D.J. Bland. A nice salary dump with Bland the most bland of those involved.

December 30th, 2028: The Dodgers signed former Marlin Slade Cecconi to a 3-year, $3,360,000 per year deal. He has a 4.81 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 655.1 innings with 617 strikeouts.

December 31st, 2028: A few moves on New Years Eve before we enter 2029:

Former Marlin Walker Buehler signed a 1-year, $8.8 million deal with the Colorado Rockies. Buehler is an extreme groundballer who could do well at Coors. With us and the Dodgers, he's 79-55 in 249 games (240 starts) with a 3.38 ERA and 1.17 WHIP to go with 1,394 strikeouts in 1,218 innings.

Another former Marlin, lefty Jairo Labourt signed a 3-year, $17.2 million per year deal with a 40 games finished vesting option for the final year. He's got a 3.45 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 149 saves in 532 innigns with 579 strikeouts.

No more former Marlins here, but the Blue Jays swapped 1B Jim Cavanagh to the Orioles for SS Cash Case. It's a good deal for the Orioles, but it's pretty even.

2029 here we come!

Free Agency Pt. 2

January 1st, 2029: Happy New Year! The Cardinals acquired CL Wilmer Torres from the Padres for RHP Dane Bradshaw, RHP Juan Salgado, and 2B Phil Mousseau. It's a steal for the Cardinals.

January 2nd, 2029: The Indians acquired RF Micer Adolfo and RHP Kevin Green from the Padres for RHP Juan Miranda and LF Chris Mazurek. It's a fair enough trade.

January 3rd, 2029: The Colorado Rockies signed former Atlanta Brave Ty Madden to a 4-year, $68.4 million contract. He has a 64-53 record with a 3.92 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 785 strikeouts in 1,020 innings.

January 5th, 2029: The Astros signed RHP Nick Goody to a 3-year, $9 million per year contract with the final year a 40 games finished vesting option. He tossed 786 innings and worked a 4.08 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 139 saves and 1,127 strikeouts. He played for the Yankees, Indians, Royals, Red Sox, Mets, and Cardinals.

January 8th, 2029: After 13+ seasons with the Dodgers, Corey Seager is headed to the other side of the rivalry. The 34-year-old signed a 3-year, $12.6 million per year deal with the Giants. The last season is a 550 plate appearence vesting option. Last season was the first in his career where he didn't reach 550 plate appearences, but he also started just half the games he appeared in. He has a career .311/.381/.529 batting line with 356 homers and 1,198 RBI's in 1,962 career games.

January 9th, 2029: Recently acquired reliever Wilmer Torres signed a 3-year, $10 million per year extension with the Cardinals. In San Diego, he had a 3.17 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 561.1 innings. He recorded 137 saves and struck out 696.

The Giants acquired RHP Drew Smith, RHP Joe Burch, and cash considerations from the Braves for RHP Ben Alford and 2B Jarrod Hardin. It's a mega salary dump, and the Giants really got the good end.

January 10th, 2029: The 2029 Hall of Fame class will contain 1B Miguel Cabrera (95.8%) and SP Zack Greinke (80.3%). Robinson Cano (73.6%) just missed it and Joey Votto (67.1%), Max Scherzer (63.2%), Justin Verlander (62.9%), and Matt Holliday (52.8%) are closing in, but still need a little help.

January 17th, 2029: The Mets signed SP Pablo Ochoa to a 4-year, $75,800,000 contract. The longtime Cub has a 77-63 record with a 4.16 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. He also struck out 1,029 hitters in 1,192 innings.

The Cardinals added SS Wenceel Perez to a 4-year, $33 million deal. The longtime Tiger and part-time Indian has a career .273/.330/.364 with 28 homers, 87 steals, and 249 RBI's in 2,888 at bats.

January 20th, 2029: I claimed RHP Dave Chutz off waivers from the Cardinals and I sent him to Class A Greensboro. The former 3rd Rounder by the Cubs is an interesting depth option.

January 28th, 2029: The Padres just spent a ton of money on an average at best CF in Ron Burk. He will get 6-years and $25.4 million per year. The longtime Blue Jay has a career .292/.314/.447 slash line with 95 homers, 64 steals, and 361 RBI's.

On to the preseason!

Preseason

February 2nd, 2029: The preseason starts today, which means baseball is ever so close!

The San Diego Padres signed 1B Andy Bostic to a 6-year, $72.6 million contract. He owns a career .275/.368/.489 lilne with 140 homers and 473 RBI's.

February 5th, 2029: The Cincinnati Reds signed former Marlin righty John Curtiss to a 1-year, $4,960,000 contract. He's pitched in 712 games with a 4.46 ERA and 1,024 strikeouts in 813.1 innings.

February 6th, 2029: The Yankees signed RHP Zach Young to a 1-year, $3,040,000 contract. The former 10th rounder has very little big league experience, 29.2 innings with the Astros and Mariners with 24 strikeouts, a 3.64 ERA, and 1.42 WHIP.

The Seattle Pilots and Washington Senators made an inter-expansion trade, with the Pilots recieving former Marlin CF Cole Brannen and the Senators grabbing RHP Jhonneyver Gutierrez. It's a fair swap for both teams.

February 15th, 2029: I traded 2B Nesty Cirese to the Yankees for SS Chris Shaughnessy.

Schaugnhessy, 25, is rated a 1.5/2.5 and is an elite defender at short who can play second, third, left, and right as well. He's got a decent bat and decent speed, and fills a similar role to Cirese, but with all this options and a minor league contract.

*Sidenote: It looks like there is going to be no interleague play this year. I can't get the schedule to give interleague play (even with the box checked) and I'm terrible at making schedules.

February 19th, 2029: The Boston Red Sox sent RHP Luis Escolastico to the Nationals for 3B Luis Camarena and RF Jimmy Ingram. It's a decenet deal both ways with the slight advantage to Washington.

I claimed CF Marcio Zarate off waivers from the Yankees and sent him to A Greensboro. The 22-year-old has elite speed, is a plus-plus defender in center, and rated a 2.5* potential. He's got a great eye, but needs to keep working on the offensive side of his game.

Spring Training is next!

Spring Training

February 26th, 2029: Spring training starts today, so I made my callups to the big league club.

The Boston Doves made another expansion trade, sending 3B Hudson Potts to the Montreal Expos for RHP's Jimmy McMahon and Jared Jones. I guess it's an even trade, although none of these guys are really worth much.

February 29th, 2029: The San Francisco Giants signed LF Adam Haseley to a 1-year, $5.3 million contract.

March 9th, 2029: Ayden Hardemon went on the DL with a sore elbow. He'll be back before Spring Training ends.

March 13th, 2029: The Chicago Cubs signed CL Jamie Callahan to a 2-year, $4.6 million per year deal with the final a team option. The longtime Met closer has 308 saves with a 3.17 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 712.2 innings.

March 16th, 2029: Jackson Miller is headed to the DL with knee soreness.

March 17th, 2029: The Rangers will be without LHP Yoshiaga Horn for the rest of the year with a partially torn UCL.

March 20th, 2029: Ayden Hardemon returned to the active roster.

March 24th, 2029: I locked up Devon Peterson to 2035 with a new extension. He had a team option for 2030 at $14.5 million that will now be guaranteed, and will make $23,810,000 per-year starting in 2031. The 2035 season is a team option. After his breakout year last year, I couldn't afford for him to get more expensive, and the 30-year-old has gotten better with age with no signs of decline. The rotation has taken hits with free agents leaving, and will likely lose C.J. Jorgensen at the end of the year.

March 26th, 2029: Jackson Miller rejoined the club.

March 27th, 2029: The Reds will be without Steve Hates for the rest of the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligamenet. This is a huge hit to the Reds, as the former #4 overall pick by the Athletics has been a great pitcher the past three seasons.

March 30th, 2029: The Cubs added Edwin Diaz to the roster on a 2-year, $28.8 million per year deal. The Cubs traded him to the Nationals midseason, and then grabbed him in Free Agency like what they did with Jorge Flores. This is also the first multi-yera deal for Diaz, who decided after two teams last year, he can sign for two years instead of 1. He has 342 career saves, a 2.89 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 1,317 strikeouts in 877 innings.

I also started making roster cuts today. I designated Joseph Jarneski for assignment and retired Jordan Montgomery. I'd hire him as a pitching coach in the GCL.

April 1st, 2029: I traded Jarneski and Mike Burrell to the Expos for RF Parker Meadows. All salary is retained by the origional team.

Meadows, 29, is an expensive 4th outfielder with elite defense and speed. His bat is decent as well, but nothing special. The longtime Royal hit .258/.346/.377 with 58 homers, 127 steals, and 335 RBI's with the Royals before being selected in the expansion draft.

Here's the roster for the 2029 season:

SP Luis Ardon (2.5/2.5)
SP C.J. Jorgensen (3.5/3.5)
SP Steve Paustian (3.5/3.5)
SP Devon Peterson (4/4)
SP Pat Saitta (4.5/4.5)
RP Luis Alcantra (4/4.5)
RP Josh Brown (4/4)
RP Gene Hall (4/4)
RP Ignacio Hinojos (4/4.5)
RP C.J. LaFever (4/4.5)
RP Jamie Preist (3.5/3.5)
RP Jake Yearick (4/4.5)
CL Chad Scoles (5/5)
C Jackson Miller (5/5)
C Jorge Tapia (1.5/4)
1B Gregorio Alvarenga (3.5/3.5)
1B Mac Horvath (4/4)
2B Jon Reid (2.5/3.5)
2B Noah Smith (3.5/3.5)
3B Chris Reid (4/4)
SS Isaac Nunez (4/4)
LF Daylen Lile (4/4)
LF Juan Ramirez (5/5)
CF Juan Simental (3.5/5)
RF Parker Meadowns (2.5/2.5)
RF Jarred Kelenic (4/4)

If we don't win a playoff game this year...

April 2nd-April 7th

April 2nd, 2029: Happy Opening Day! The preseason predictions rank us first in the NL East at 100-62. We're followed by the Phillies (95-67), Nationals (90-72), Braves (83-79), Mets (83-79), and then the brand new Doves (61-101), who we have the pleasure of playing today in Boston.

The top 100 prospect list was published, with our Rogelo Maldonado ranked #1. Him and Juan Toledo (95th) are our only top 100 prospects, which gives us the 13th ranked system. Omari Tetteh, who was just returned to us, is ranked 130th.

A few roster moves, the Tigers signed Corey Knebel to a 1-year, $17.8 million deal, the Nationals signed Jay Groome to a 1-year, $4,270,000 contract, and the Yankees signed Joe LaBrie to a 1-year, $8,200,000 contract.

We're in Boston to face the Doves for their inagural game. Pat Saitta will make his Marlins debut against former Marlin Leonel Olvera. Our lineup will be RF Kelenic, CF Simental, LF Ramirez, 3B Reid, 1B Horvath, C Miller, SS Nunez, 2B Smith, P Saitta. We didn't let the home fans get too happy, and we topped the Doves 5-2 in their first game in team history.

Saitta tossed 7 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, and 8 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra and Gene Hall split the 8th for holds and Chad Scoles struck out 2 in the 9th for the save.

Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a steal, double, run scored, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and a double. Chris Reid and Juan Ramirez were both 1-for-4 with two homers. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a walk.

April 3rd, 2029: Five free agents signed and it's not worth writing them all out.

C.J. Jorgensen took on Carlos Leandro as we looked to win the second of the three game series. Tied at 1 after 9, Austin Gardner hit a pinch-hit three run homer, and the Doves walked off 4-1 for their first win and walkoff in franchise history.

Jorgensen pitched well, 6.2 innings wih 4 hits, a run, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Jake Yearick made his Marlins debut, 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Scoles got the loss, 2 hits, a walk, and 3 runs.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a double, steal, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a walk and steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-3. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a steal and run scored.

Tampa LF Ernie Frye was 5-for-5 in a 19-0 win over the Twins.

April 4th, 2029: We looked to with the series with Devon Peterson taking on former Marlin Yonny Chirinos. We didn't even give them a chance today, and absolutely destroyed them 10-1.

Peterson went 6 innings with 4 hits, an uearned run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever got a 3 innings save, allowing 2 hits and getting 3 strikeouts.

Juan Simental was 3-for-5 with a walk and 2 solo homers. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with 2 run, 2 RBI's, a walk, double, and homer. Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-6 with 2 runs, and an RBI. Noah Smith was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and a solo homer. Chris Reid was 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-5 with a walk. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-5 with a run scored.

After a semi-successful opening series, we're headed to Maimi for a three game series with the Padres. We'll see Rayn Wimbush, Kinnon Linfoot, and Josh Hearn (0-1, 7.50 ERA).

April 5th, 2029: Our home opener took place against the Padres, as Steve Paustian squared off with Ryan Winbush. We got three in the 8th to give us a 4-2 win.

Paustian went 8 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Scoles got the save, 2 strikeouts in the 9th.

Paustian was also 2-for-3 with a run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with a steal and run scored.

Down in AAA, Juan Maya tossed a 1-hit shutout in a 14-0 New Orleans win over the Memphis Redbirds. He walked 2 and struck out 5.

Indians SS Zack Prajzner was 5-for-5 in a 7-2 win over the Rangers.

April 6th, 2029: Detroit signed RHP Pedro Araujo to a 1-year, $4.4 million contract.

Luis Ardon took on Cole Ayers as we finish our first trip through the rotation. The pitching wasn't good, and the Padres got their first win of the year, 6-2.

Ardon went 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos allowed 2 runs in 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Jamie Priest tossed 2 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double. Jon Reid was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI's and a walk. Both Mac Horvath and Daylen Lile had pinch hit singles.

Another New Orleans pitcher, Cho-yeong Hyoun, tossed a shutout. He allowed just 5 hits and struck out 4 in a 3-0 win over the Redbirds.

Oakland starter Sean Geise did one better, tossing a no-hitter in a 1-0 edging of the Blue Jays. He struck out 12 and walked 4.

April 7th, 2029: We looked to win the series and hopefully take first with Pat Saitta (1-0, 2.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) taking on Josh Hearn (0-1, 7.50 ERA, 1.67 WHIP). Tied at three in the 9th, Gregorio Alvarenga had a walk-off ground out, and we won the finale 4-3.

Saitta tossed 5.2 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. The pen went 3.1 innings with a hit, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Alvarenga was 2-for-5 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a run scored and RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-4.

Yankees LF Riley Greene hit for the cycle in a 12-3 win over the Orioles.

Obviously, a 4-2 start isn't as good as last year, but we also had the same amount of postseason wins last year as we do now. We're off to three with the Rockies, and we'd see Ty Madden (1-0, 3.60 ERA), Juan Coira (1-0, 5.14 ERA), and Walker Buehler (0-0, 7.36 ERA).

April 8th-April 13th

April 8th, 2029: Nationals 2B Sam Bianco is out for the season with a ruptured medial collateral ligament. He was 0-for-5 in abbreviated major league time.

We opened the series in Colorado with C.J. Jorgensen (0-0, 1.35 ERA, 0.75 WHIP) taking on Ty Madden (1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). We've seen Madden a ton in Atlanta, so my hitters are very familiar with him, six of the starters with 20 or more career at bats against him. Jorgensen was great, and we topped them 5-1.

C.J. tossed 7 innings with 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra and Gene Hall got holds while Chad Scoles struck out the final batter of the game for a save.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a walk, 2 steals, and run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a solo homer.

Carlos Correa was 5-for-5 in a 10-2 White Sox win over the Athletics.

April 9th, 2029: We're ranked 5th in the Power Rankings. At 5-2, we are tied with the Phillies for first.

Today's game got rained out, so we'll play two tomorrow. Luckily, we have just a three game set with the Cubs after the double header with an off day after, so I don't really have to mess up the rotation.

April 10th, 2029: Game 1 took place between Devon Peterson (1-0, 1.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) and Juan Coira (1-0, 5.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). The Rockies got three in the 2nd and cruised to a 4-1 win. We only had 1 hit too...

Peterson went 4.2 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Jake Yearick tossed 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, a walk, and a strikeout. Josh Brown struck out both batters he faced.

Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Daylen Lile was 0-for-2 with a steal, walk, and run scored.

Game two saw Steve Paustian (1-0, 2.25 ERA, 0.63 WHIP) take on former Marlin Shoehi Ohtani. We were able to split the double header and won the finale 6-3.

Our strategy seems to be win the opener, lose the middle game, win the finale. I don't mind this if we can do this in every series, especially the postseason...

Paustian went 5.2 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Brown and Priest got holds, while Scoles got the save. Priest went 2 innings with 2 strikeouts, Scoles 1 with 1.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a triple, run scored, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and two steals. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Jorge Tapia was 1-for-4, the single his first big league hit. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and a run scored. Daylen Lile got a pinch hit single in the 9th, stole second, and then scored.

We're headed back home for three with the Cubs. We'll see Jared Taylor (1-0, 0.00 ERA), Jose Espada (0-0, 1.50 ERA), and Jorge Flores (1-0, 1.54 ERA).

April 11th, 2029: We opened the series against the Cubs with Luis Ardon (0-1, 7.71 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) taking on Jarred Taylor (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1.71 WHIP). It took 10 innings to declare a winner, but Juan Ramirez hit a walk-off single and we won the opener 6-5.

Ardon tossed 4.1 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos got a hold, 1.2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra blew the save, a solo homer to the only batter he faced. Gene Hall got the win with a perfect 10th.

Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a solo homer, walk, and the game winning RBI. Chris Reid was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with 2 walks, a steal, and a run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-6 with a double. Juan Simental was 1-for-6 with a solo homer. Noah Smith was 1-for-2 with 2 steals and a hit by pitch. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a steal, hit by pitch, and run scored.

April 12th, 2029: The Tigers signed RHP Dovydas Neverauskas to a 1-year, $3.8 million deal. Yesterday, the Cubs signed formerm Marlin Riley Ferrell to a 1-year, $5.3 million deal.

We looked to finally win a middle game with Pat Saitta (1-0, 3.55 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) taking on Jose Espada (0-0, 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). Of course, we couldn't, and they outslugged us 10-7. At least we are consistent...

And the Cubs are now 9-2, so it's not like they are as bad as last year.

Saitta had a rough outing, 4 innings with 9 hits, 6 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. I can hear the pundits already writing him off as "overpaid" and a "waste," but what do they know... Jamie Priest allowed 4 runs, 3 hits, and a walk in a third of an inning. Ignacio Hinojos tossed 1.2 perfect frames with 3 strikeouts.

Chris Reid was 3-for-5 with a homer and 4 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, a double, and a steal. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a run scored and walk. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with an RBI and double. Jackson Miller was 1-for-5 with a run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with 2 runs scored.

April 13th, 2029: We looked to win the finale with C.J. Jorgensen (1-0, 1.32 ERA, 0.73 WHIP) taking on former Marlin Jorge Flores (1-0, 1.54 ERA, 1.03 WHIP). It was his first start in Marlins Park since leaving, and the welcome wasn't the nicest. Maybe it got to him, maybe not, but either way, we shut them out 5-0.

Jorgensen went 7.1 innings with just 1 hit, 1 walk, and 9 strikeouts. Now this is why I traded for him! The pen combined for 1.2 innings, a hit, 2 walks, and a strikeout.

Noah Smith was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Daylen LIle was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jorge Tapia was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-2 with a run scored, 2 walks, and a double. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Again, nothing if not consistent!

Reds SS Ronny Mauricio extended his hit streak to 20 games.

We get tomorrow off, as we sit at 8-4 in a three way tie for first, and fie way tie for both Wild Card Spots.

Sidenote: The Seattle Pilots are 9-3 and leading the NL West. This is extremely unsustainable, but hey! Good for them!

April 14th-April 20th

April 14th, 2029: I claimed LHP Doug Parsons off waivers from the Mets and optioned him to New Orleans. He's rated 3/3.5 with elite stuff, average movement, and plus stamina.

We have today off, but will head north of the border to face the Montreal Expos for the first time in new-Expos history. We'll see Crusito Mieses (1-1, 5.19 ERA), Stephen Pelli (0-1, 2.08 ERA), and Luis Peraza (0-1, 1.74 ERA).

April 16th, 2029: We opened the series in Montreal with Devon Peterson (1-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.69 WHIP) taking on Crusito Mieses (1-1, 5.19 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). Like every other series opener, we won, this time an impressive 9-2.

Devon Peterso went 7.2 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, but he struck out 4.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 5 RBI's. Jon Reid was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-3 with 4 runs, an RBI, 2 walks, a triple, and a steal. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with an RBI, steal, double, and walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a steal.

RF Ben Henning was 5-for-6 as the Cubs edged the Dodgers 11-10.

April 16th, 2029: Young CF Juan Toledo was named South Atlantic Player of the Week for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He hit .481 with a homer and 10 RBI's.

We're stuck at 5th in the Power Rankings. At 9-4, we are tied with the Mets for first in the division.

We looked to take the series a day early with Steve Paustian (2-0, 3.28 ERA, 0.88 WHIP) facing Stephen Pelli (0-1, 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP). Tied at 2 in the 9th, Chris Reid had a two run error that gave us our first middle game win of the year.

Paustian went 6 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Gene Hall got a win, striking out the final hitter in the 8th. Chad Scoles got a save, striking out the side in the 9th.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, RBI, ad walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and 2 runs scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and walk.

Ronny Mauricio's hit streak was snapped at 21 games.

April 17th, 2029: We looked for our first sweep of the season with Luis Ardon (0-1, 8.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP) taking on Luis Peraza (0-1, 1.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). It was a beautiful all-around game, and we shut the Expos out 10-0.

Ardon went 5.2 innings with 4 hits, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever went 2.2 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Juan Ramirez was a perfect 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with a steal and three run homer. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and 3 RBI's. Ardon was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and a homer. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 walks. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a walk, hit by pitch, and run scored.

Veteran 3B Alex Bregman was 5-for-5 in a 10-4 Astros win over the Angels.

We're headed back home for three with the Giants. We'll see Eric Warren (1-0, 1.38 ERA), Juan Tafoya (0-2, 4.50 ERA), and Josh Canseco (1-0, 1.35 ERA).

April 18th, 2029: The Nationals will be without LHP Cole Ragans for the year with a torn rotator cuff. He was 0-2 with a 6.97 ERA in 10.2 innings.

We opened the Giants series with Pat Saitta (1-1, 5.94 ERA, 1.80 WHIP) facing Eric Warren (1-0, 1.38 ERA, 0.62 WHIP). This was a complete and utter annihilation, as we shut them out 27-0, including a 13 run 8th inning. Three position players, Jurickson Profar, Anthony Alford, and Corey Seager, all pitched in the 8th.

Saitta tossed 7.1 scorless with 3 hits, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos tossed 1.2 innings with a strikeout.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Jon Reid was 3-for-5 with a sac0fly, 3 runs, 7 RBI's, 2 doubles, and a homer. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with 3 runs, 4 RBI's, 2 walks, a double, and homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, an RBI, and 4 walks. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with 4 runs, 3 wakls, and 2 RBI's. Hinojos was 2-for-2 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a walk, and homer. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, a walk, and steal. Chris Reid was 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored. Reid lead off the 8th with a single, walked his 2nd time, and ended the inning with an out. Crazy!

Man that was awesome! I earned the achievement "Dominating Show" for this domination.

Mariners RF Janiesel Rivera hit his 300th career homer. The 30-year-old has a .290/.396/.528 career line with 301 homers (he hit two today) and 753 RBI's.

April 19th, 2029: I wonder if we have any runs left? C.J. Jorgensen (2-0, 0.86 ERA, 0.57 WHIP) will face Juan Tafoya (0-2, 4.50 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) as we look to stay hot. The Giants got 5 in the 5th, and evened the series with a 6-3 win.

Jorgensen went 5 with 7 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Josh Brown went 1.1 innings with a hit, run, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Chad Scoles struck out the side in the 9th.

Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Juan Rmairez was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

April 20th, 2029: We looked to win the rubber match with Devon Peterson (2-1, 2.95 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) taking on Josh Canseco (1-0, 1.35 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). After allowing the Giants to tie the game in the 6th, 8th, and 9th, we didn't give them a chance in the 11th, where Daylen Lile hit a walk-off single off former Marln Phil Maton to give us a 5-4 series win.

We've now won every opener and every finale this season. And lost all middle games, but one.

Peterson went 5.1 innings with 5 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Jake Yearick blew the save, pitching an inning with a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts. Gene Hall tossed an inning with a hit, run, walk, and strikeout. Chad Scoles allowed a hit and run in an inning. Both were charged with blown saves. Jamie Priest walked 1, allowed a hit, and struck out 2. Hinojos got the win, an inning with a hit and 2 strikeouts.

Juan Simental was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, a walk, two doubles, and a triple. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for- with an RBI. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a steal and run scored. Jon Reid came off the bench and was 1-for-3 with a two run homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored. Mac HOrvath was 1-for-3 with 2 walks. Peterson was 1-for-2. Daylen Lile came off the bench and was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Reds 3B Rafael Devers hit three homers in a 7-0 win over the Braves.

Off to Washington for three, where we'll see Steve Vincent (1-1, 3.31 ERA), Chris Dorman (0-1, 6.75 ERA), and Sonny Warner (0-3, 3.54 ERA).

April 21st-April 26th

April 21st, 2029: We start a series in Washington with the Nationals as Steve Paustian (2-0, 3.20 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) takes on Steve Vincent (1-1, 3.31 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). We piled on the runs, and took the opener 10-5 to keep our unbeaten opener streak.

Paustian went 6 innings with 6 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever tossed an inning with 3 hits, 3 runs, and a walk. Jake Yearick tossed an inning with 2 hits, a run, walk, and a strikeout.

Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a solo homer and walk. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and double. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a three run homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with 3 runs, a walk, and a two run homer. It may not seem impressive, but it's his first home run since 2025, and just the 12th of his career (5,292 plate appearences!).

April 22nd, 2029: Middle games are our achilles heel, but Luis Ardon (1-1, 4.91 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) will look to beat Chris Dorman (0-1, 6.75 ERA, 1.88 WHIP) in game two of three. He was successful, and we won 10-3.

Ardon pitched well, 6 innings with 7 hits, a run, and 5 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos allowed a hit, walk, run, and got a strikeout. Jamie Preist allowed 3 hits and a run with a strikeout in an inning.

Isaac Nunez was 3-for-4 with a walk, double, solo homer, and two run homer. Noah Smith was 2-for-3 with a run scored, sac-fly, hit by pitch, and 2 steals. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a homer, 3 RBI's, walk, and sac-fly. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a walk, 2 runs, triple, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a run scored and walk. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-5 with 2 runs, an RBI, and triple.

April 23rd, 2029: We moved all the way up to 2nd in the Power Rankings. At 15-5, we have a 2.5 game lead over the surprise Mets. They've got some talent this year, much more then recently, and could make some noise. Just hopefully not too much...

We looked to finish the sweep with Pat Saitta (2-1, 4.13 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) taking on Sonny Warner (0-3, 3.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). The Nats got 4 in the 6th, and for the first time all year, we lost the last game of a series.

But, we definitely should've won 2-0...

Saitta pitched 5.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts, but 4 unearned runs... Chris Reid made three errors... Luis Alcantra tossed 1.2 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a steal and hit by pitch. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jorge Tapias was 1-for-4 with his first career homerun.

I think it's time for Reid to move to first base... Mac Horvath is a good defender at thrid, so it shouldn't hurt moving Reid.

We're off to LA for three with the Dodgers. We'll see B.J. Russow (2-2, 6.86 ERA), Robinson Ortiz (1-0, 5.09 ERA), and Slade Cecconi (2-2, 4.34 ERA).

April 24th, 2029: Rangers righty Nolan Kingham will miss the rest of the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. He tossed 12.2 innings with 11 strikeouts in 10 relif appearences.

A worse injury happened to former Angel Anderson Espinoza, who was forced to retire with a torn labrum in his shoulder. The 31-year-old has fought injuries his whole career, and will end with a 4.53 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 243 strikeouts in 248.1 innings.

Can we keep our opening win streak? Former Dodger C.J. Jorgensen (2-1, 2.42 ERA, 0.85 WHIP) took on B.J Russow (2-2, 6.86 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) at Dodger Stadium. Chris Reid will make his MLB debut at first base. That streak ended, as the Dodgers topped us 5-1.

Jorgensen tossed 6 innings with 6 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic tossed 2 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts.

Juan Ramriez was 2-for-3 with a RBI, walk, and double. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-5 with a double. Jorgensen was 1-for-1 with a sac-bunt. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a steal. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a steal and run scored.

April 25th, 2029: We looked to get back on track with the red-hot Devon Peterson (2-1, 2.66 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) taking on Robinson Ortiz (1-0, 5.09 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). It took 11 innings, before former Marlin Jose Ramirez hit a walk-off solo homer to give the Dodgers a 6-5 win.

Mac Horvath was hit by a pitch and left with an injury. His diagnosis is pending. He was 2-for-3.

Peterson had a rough outing, 4.1 innings with 6 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Jake Yearick tossed 2 innings with 2 walks and a strikeout. Gene Hall tossed 1.1 innings with 2 hits, including the game winning solo homer.

Isaac NUnez was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-5 with 2 runs, a triple, and 2 steals. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a walk, double, and steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a run and walk. Peterson was 1-for-2.

April 26th, 2029: Horvath was diagnosed with a broken nose, but he'll miss just 3 days, and tomorrow is an off day.

We looked to avoid the sweep with Steve Paustian (3-0, 2.81 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) looking to stay hot against former Marlin Slade Cecconi (2-2, 4.34 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). Cecconi is fighting a sore back that will have minimal influence on his play. It was a little more then minimal, as we rallied for 6 in the 4th and won the finale 10-4.

Paustian didn't pitch great, 3 innings with 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Hinojos got the win, 2 innings with a hit and 5 strikeouts. Josh Brown tossed 2 innings with 3 hits and a strikeout while getting a hold.

Juan Simental was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, and 4 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 3-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and walk. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Jorge Tapia was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Jon Reid was 1-for-5 with a double, run scored, and walk.

We get tomorrow off, and will head back home!

April 27th-May 3rd

April 27th, 2029: C.J. Jorgensen asked for an extension, and I can actually afford him. I submitted a 5-year, $109.4 million deal.

We headed home today to prepare for a three game set with the Pirates. We'll see Jonathan Kearns (1-2, 6.48 ERA), Brad Rauter (1-2, 3.52 ERA), and Caleb Barnsley (1-2, 4.50 ERA).

April 28th, 2029: We opened the series with Pittsburgh as a sold out Marlins park. Luis Ardon (2-1, 3.92 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) looked to stay hot against Jonathan Kearns (1-2, 6.48 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). We have the position advantage at every position except pitcher, but Ardon's stats (and mustahce!) are much better. But, baseball isn't a game of mustaches, and with a 5 run 5th, the Pirates won the opener 7-3.

Daylen Lile left with an injury... He was 2-for-2 with a steal as well...

Ardon went 4.2 innings with 6 hits, 6 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Jamie Priest allwoed 2 hits and a run in 2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Noah Smith was 1-for-4. Jarred Kelenic came off the bench and was 1-for-1 with a sac-fly.

April 29th, 2029: I claimed RHP Pat Riley off waivers from the San Frnacisco Giants, and it's an absolute steal. He's an absolute steal, a 3.5/4.5* righty with elite stuff, elite control, plus-plus movement, and plus staimna. He averages 96-98 with his fastball from a sidearm slot. He's an extreme groundball pitcher. The former 8th Round Pick has a career 4.05 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 166 strikeouts in 215.2 innings.

The Nationals signed RHP Bikichi Tsukamoto to a 1-year, $14.1 million year deal. The Japanese import didn't have inital success in the open market, but eventually got a really good deal.

I optioned Jamie Priest to New Orleans.

We looked to even the series back up with Pat Saitta (2-2, 3.38 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) taking on Brad Rauter (1-2, 3.52 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). The pitching was great, and we shut them out 5-0.

Saitta went 6.1 innings with 4 hits and 8 strikeouts. Chad LaFever tossed 1.2 innings wiht a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos went an inning with a walk and 2 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Saitta was 1-for-2 with an RBI and sac-bunt. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Reds starter Esteban Aguirre tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 14-0 win over the Padres. He allwoed 3 hits and struck out 4.

April 30th, 2029: Lile is headed to the DL for 2-3 weeks with a sore elbow. I recalled Eric Kisela from AAA.

We dropped down to 4th in the Power Rankings. At 17-9, we have a 2.5 game lead over the Phillies.

C.J. Jorgensen (2-2, 3.38 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) took on Caleb Barnsley (1-2, 4.50 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) as we looked to win the finale. Man it was a crazy one... The Pirates got 1 in the 12th, and we answered back with a Chris Reid solo homer. Then in the 13th, Trevor Hauver hit a two run homer off Josh Brown, and we failed to answer, and they beat us 6-4 in a backwards series...

Jorgensen went 6 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Brown went an inning plus with 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Ignacio Hinojos finished the game, allowing a hit then striking out the side.

Chris Reid was 3-for-5 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, and two home runs. Parker Meadows was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI's, a walk, double, and steal. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a walk and double. Jackson Miller was 2-for-6 with a run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3. Jorgensen was 1-for-3.

We're off to St. Louis for three. We'll see Luis Manzano (2-2, 3.26 ERA), Andy Frost (4-0, 2.97 ERA), and Duany Gomez (1-1, 6.75 ERA).

May 1st, 2029: Down in New Orleans, Juan Maya was named American Confrence Pitcher of the Month. He was 3-0 with 22 strikeouts in 34.1 innings in 5 starts with a 1.57 ERA.

We needed to get back on track, and opened the Cardinals series with Devon Peterson (2-1, 3.86 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) taking on Luis Manzano (2-2, 3.26 ERA, 0.86 WHIP). Here's another crazy one... Down 3-0 into the 8th, we got a run to cut the deficit 3-1. In the 9th, Isaac Nunez hit a three run homer off Wilmer Torres to take a 4-3 lead. Rodolfo Medrano then tied up the game after a triple off Chad Scoles to tie the game. We got 4 in the top of the 10th, and then won 8-4.

Peterson went 5.2 innings with 10 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic tossed 2.1 innings with a hit and strikeout. Scoles blew the save and got the win, an inning with a hit, run, and strikeout.

Gregorio Alvarenga went 3-for-5 with a walk and 2 RBI's. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and double. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a triple and run scored. Nunez was 1-for-4 with a walk, 2 runs, and the three run homer. Parker Meadows came off the bench and was 1-for-1 with 2 runs (pinch-runner), an RBI, and double. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a double and walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a double, walk, and run.

Phillies starter Cullen Dana tossed a 2-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over the Cubs.

May 2nd, 2029: We looked to keep rolling with Steve Paustian (3-0, 3.77 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) taking on former Marlin Andy Frost (4-0, 2.97 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). It was a high scoring affair, and we topped them 10-5.

Paustian went 6.2 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 10 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever allowed a hit, 2 unearned runs, and a strikeout in 8 innings.

Jon Reid was 4-for-5 with 3 doubles, 2 runs, and an RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-5 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, a homer, and a steal. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, double, walk, and steal. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, double, and walk. Jorge Tapia was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk.

Down in Jacksonville, Jon Carpenter was 5-for-5 in a 7-4 win over the Mobile BayBears.

May 3rd, 2029: We looked to finish the sweep with Luis Ardon (2-2, 5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) taking on Jacob Heatherly (0-0, 3.52 ERA, 1.24 WHIP), who's making his first start after 11 appearences. It was a great pitching performance, and we won 3-1 to finish the sweep.

Ardon went 7 innings with 8 hits, a run, and 7 strikeouts. Gene Hall got a hold and Chad Scoles got a save. Both guys tossed an inning with a strikeout.

Isaac Nunez was 3-for-3 with a double, triple, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, and triple. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-5 with a stolen base. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk.

After that successful series, we're headed home for three with the Mets. We'll see Noah Syndergaard (1-1, 4.79 ERA), Pablo Ochoa (1-2, 6.88 ERA), and Arturo Romo (1-2, 4.05 ERA).

May 4th-May 9th

May 4th, 2029: We opened up the series hosting the New York Mets with Pat Saitta (3-2, 2.78 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Noah Syndergaard (1-1, 4.79 ERA, 1.74 WHIP). Thor, now 36, is just a shell of his former self, the once-dominate ace that no one wanted to face. Tied at three in the 9th (after allowing 2 in the 8th), Parker Meadows, who came in as a defensive substitution, hit a walk-off grand slam to give us a 7-4 win!

Saitta went 6.2 strong with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra finsihed the 7th to get the hold. Jake Yearick allowed a hit to the only batter he faced, who scored on a to-run homer off Josh Brown. He did get a strike out before the homer, however, but left for Gene Hall, who got the final two outs with a strikeout and ground out. Chad Scoles got the win, an inning with a strikeout.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a run scored, homer, and 3 RBI's. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a double, steal, and run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Meadows' only at bat was the grand slam.

May 5th, 2029: We looked to capture the middle game with C.J. Jorgensen (2-2, 3.55 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) taking on Pablo Ochoa (1-2, 6.68 ERA, 1.42 WHIP). We let the come back again, and game up three in the top of the 9th. Tied at 7th in the 9th, Josh Brown, the pitcher, hit a walk-off single, scoring Gregorio Alvarenga as we won 8-7 with 19 hits.

Noah Smith and Jon Reid both left with day-to-day injuries, but will likely miss just a week at most.

Jorgensen went 6 innings with 3 hit, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Jake Yearick got a hold, an inning with 3 htis, a run, and strikeouts. Pat Riley went 1.1 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, and a strikeout. Brown got the win, 0.2 innings with 3 pitches.

Juan Simental was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, double, and steal. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a three run homer and RBI double. Jorge Tapia was 2-for-3 with a sac-fly and solo homer. Noah Smith was 1-for-1 with a run scored and hit by pitch. Jon Reid was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a steal, RBI, and 2 walks.

May 6th, 2029: The draft pool was published today! This is who OSA has as the top 10 prospects (My scout/OSA):

1. 2B Jake Patterson (0.5/4)
2. RHP Jeremy Gilmore (3.5/4)
3. RHP Chris Carpenter (5/4.5): Can I have him?
4. RHP Talbot Rabinovich (0.5/4.5)
5. RHP Chris Mithcell (3/4)
6. RHP Kinnon Jeoffery (2/4)
7. LHP Sam Allen (3/5)
8. LHP Jamie Underwood (2/3.5)
9. CF Mike Winner (3/4): Selected by the Phillies in the 8th Round in 2026.
10. RHP Chris Prochaska (3/5)

My scout doesn't like this pool too much. Other then Carpenter, the best options are RHP Chris DePalma (3.5), Gilmore, RHP Steve Gullo (3.5), and CF Jamie Labelle (3.5). Some last resorts are RHP Jaquan Queen (4), LHP Pete Werner (1/4), and RHP Joel Vibbert (3.5). The first two are relievers, Vibbert a borderline starter.

Here's how my unsigned class of 2026 is doing:

2nd Round: SP Shawn Perryman (1.5/1.5)
6th Round: RF Dave Naulty: Drafted by me in the 39th Round in 2027, traded to the Wilson Tobs in 2028, later relased by the Doves.
8th Round: SP Nate Walters (1/1.5)
13th Round: RF Junior Richter (2/3): Drafted by the Pirates in the 2nd Round in 2027.
14th Round: 2B Kennan Muttart (0.5/0.5)
15th Round: CF Juan Escudero (0.5/2)
18th Round: CF Juan Montoya (0.5/0.5)
22nd Round: CF Dan Hitz (0.5/0.5)
27th Round: C Murdoch Levick (0.5/1)
31st Round: SS Ethan McKinney (0.5/0.5)
32nd Round: SP Jake Miller (0.5/0.5)
33rd Round: C Daniel R. Suber (0.5/0.5)
35th Round: CF Ernesto Vuelvas (0.5/0.5)
38th Round: SS T.J. Whitlow (3/0.5): Drafted by the Rouals in the 29th Round in 2027, released, and the signed with the Marlins.

We looked to finish the sweep with Devon Peterson (2-1, 3.74 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) taking on Arturo Romo (1-2, 4.05 ERA, 1.09 WHIP). No walkoffs today, and with 3 in the 1st, it was enough for the 6-2 win.

Reid left with a strained abdominal muscle, and will likely head to the DL for about the 10 day minimum.

Peterson went 7.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Riley finished the 8th with a strikeout for a hold.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with a three run homer in the 1st. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored.

We're off to Seattle to face the Pilots for three games. This will be our first matchup with the Pilots. We'll face Joe Holden (3-2, 2.50 ERA), Chris Villaman (1-3, 6.04 ERA), and Zach Linginfelter (4-0, 2.91 ERA).

May 7th, 2029: I really wanted to recall Rogelio Maldonado from New Orleans, but I instead decided to grab Sergio Tello. I didn't want to have Maldonado on the bench, he's too good for that. The shortstop job will be his after Nunez leaves in the offseason.

Juan Ramirez was named NL Player of the Week. He hit .433 with 2 homers and 9 RBI's. He's hitting .432 with 8 homers and 35 RBI's on the year.

We moved up to 2nd in the Power Rankings. At 23-10, we have a 5.5 game lead over the Phillies.

Our first ever game at New Sicks' Stadium will take place between Steve Paustian (4-0, 3.82 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) and Joe Holden (3-2, 2.50 ERA, 1.25 WHIP), a 26-year-old former 14th Round Pick of the Yankees who's really flourished with Seattle. They continued their impressive start of the year with a 5-2 win.

Paustian went 4 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever pitched 3 innings with a hit, run, walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a double. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with a run scored. He replaced Isaac Nunez, who left with a strained rib cage muscle and will head to teh DL for the minimum. Guess I can call up Maldonado anyways... Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

May 8th, 2029: C.J. JOrgensen officially agreed to his extension. He'll make $21.8 million a year until 2034, a team option for the final and fifth year of the contract.

Rogelio Maldonado was recalled from New Orleans to replace Nunez. The uber-prospect will make his debut today, hitting 7th and playing short. Luis Ardon (3-2, 4.45 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) will pitch against Chris Villaman (1-3, 6.04 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). It was a tight one, but we edged them 4-2.

The injuries keep piling up, and Mac Horvath bruised his knee. He'll be day-to-day for a week, but I haven't decided if I will place him on the DL.

Ardon went 6.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra and Gene Hall got holds, and Chad Scoles got the save.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a walk, solo homer, and two run homer. Juan Simenetal was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 runs. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4. Maldonado was 1-for-4 in his debut.

I actually have no more position players on the 40, and all spots are filled, so I will hang on to Horvath right now.

May 9th, 2029: We looked to win the finale with Pat Saitta (3-2, 2.55 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) taking on former Marlin farmhand Zach Linginfelter (4-0, 2.91 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). The pitching was elite, and we shut them out 6-0 to take the finale.

Saitta tossed 6.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic tossed 2.2 shutout innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. He't tsosed 8 shutout innings this year.

Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI's. Rogelio Maldonado was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a double, triple, and 2 RBI's. Jorge Tapia was 1-for-4 with an RBI.. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, steal, and RBI. NNoah Smith was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Kelenic was 1-for-1 with an RBI and steal. Saitta was 1-for-2 with a sac-bunt.

We get tomorrow off, which is good, since it should allow Smith to fully heal. With all these injruies, this day off couldn't come at a better time!

May 10th-May 16th

May 10th, 2029: We get today off, and will head home to prepare for three with the Phillies. We'll see Chad Afghani (2-4, 7.75 ERA), Cullen Dana (1-4, 3.77 ERA), and Forrest Whitley (4-2, 5.58 ERA).

May 11th, 2029: We opened the series with the Phillies in a packed Marlins stadium with C.J. Jorgensen (2-2, 3.68 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) facing Chad Afghani (2-4, 7.75 ERA, 1.75 WHIP), who's pitched much better as of late. We put up the runs, and took the opener 9-1.

Jorgensen went 7 innings with 2 innings with a run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos tossed 2 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts.

Chris Reid was a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, double, and homer. Rogelio Maldonado was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 RBI's, and his first big league home run. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, double, and walk. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, a double, and steal. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a run scored, double, and 2 RBI's.

May 12th, 2029: We looked to win our 4th game in a row with Devon Peterson (3-1, 3.48 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) taking on Cullen Dana (1-4, 3.77 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). The pitching was beautiful, and we shut them out 2-0.

Peterson went 7 with 2 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra (0.2) and Gene Hall (0.1) split the 8th to get holds. Both guys got a strikeout. Chad Scoles struck out 1 in the 9th to earn the save.

We're off to Cincinatti to take on the Reds in a three game series. We'll face Patrick Raby (2-2, 3.86 ERA), Esteban Aguirre (6-2, 1.44 ERA), and Mike Kuhns (0-3, 6.31 ERA).

May 14th, 2029: We dropped to third in the Power Rankings. At 27-12, we have the same record as the red-hot Brewers (2nd) who have won 7 straight and 9 of 10. The Orioles have a remarkable 32-7 record, have won 6 straight, and 9 of thier last 10 as well.

We opened the series at Grean American Ballpark with Luis Ardon (4-2, 4.15 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) taking on former Marlin Patrick Raby (2-2, 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). The Reds played much better, and beat us 9-3 to take the opener.

May 15th, 2029: White Sox righty Mike Vasil is out for the year with a torn rotator cuff. He struck out 18 in 17 with a 4.24 ERA.

We looked to even the series with Pat Saitta (4-2, 2.22 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) taking on Estevan Aguire (6-2, 1.44 ERA, 0.72 WHIP) in an elite ace-off. Not going to lie, if I ever have moeny and Aguirre is a Free Agent, I will give him whatever he wants. We managed to get him out after 3, and took the middle game with a 5-3 win.

Saitta got the win, 5.1 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Josh Brown, Jake Yearick, Luis Alcantra, and Gene Hall got holds while Chad Scoles got the save. Current Twin Giancarlo Stanton announced his would be his last season. With 746 homers, he needs 26 to tie Bonds' career record. It seems like a tough task for the 39-year-old, who has just 1 in 11 games.

We looked to finish the series with a win, as C.J. Jorgensen (3-2, 3.55 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) took on Mike Kugns (0-3, 6.31 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). Down 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th, the Reds got 8 runs. We fought back, with 3 in the 6th and 7 in the 7th to take the finale 11-8.

Reds LF Ramon Flores hit his 300th career homer in the losing effort. He has a career .257 average with 891 RBI's in 1,647 games.

Mike Trout hit his 2,500th career hit. The 37-year-old is a shell of his former self, and has a career .286/.406/.553 line with 590 homers and 1,570 RBI's. He really hasn;t had a "Troutlike" year since 2023, but was the best in baseball from 2012-2021.

We're headed home for three with Arizona. We'll see Cole Stringer (0-3, 4.55 ERA), Marius Balandis (1-2, 4.32 ERA), and Tyrese Comier (2-0, 3.55 ERA).

May 17th-May 22nd

May 17th, 2029: First fan vote update: Jackson Miller is third for catchers. Chris Reid is third for first base. Isaac Nunez is second for shortstop. Juan Ramriez is first for left field. Jarred Kelenic is first for right field. Pat Saitta is fourth for starters. Ignacio Hinojos is third for relievers.

We were hosting the Diamondbacks for a three game series. We'll send the red-hot Devon Peterson (4-1, 2.98 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) to the mound against Cole Stringer (9-3, 4.55 ERA, 1.36 WHIP). We got three in the first, and curised to a 4-1 victory.

Peterson tossed 6 innings with 4 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Pat Riely and Gene Hall tossed perfect frames to get holds, and Chad Scoles got a strikeout in a perfect 9th for the save.

May 18th, 2029: Daylen Lile and Isaac Nunez are both heading to Jupiter for rehab assignments.

We looked to win the series a day early with Steve Paustian (4-2, 5.08 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) looking to thaw his cold streak against Marius Balandis (1-2, 4.32 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). He wasn't terrible, but wasn't good, and the D'Backs evened the series with a 4-2 win.

Paustian went 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 44 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. The pen combined for 3.2 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a double. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with an RBI and walk.

Mariners CF Sean Foote was an impressive 6-for-6 in a 15-4 win over the Athletics.

May 19th, 2029: We looked to win the finale with Luis Ardon (4-3, 5.05 ERA, 1.51 WHIP) taking on Tyrese Comier (2-0, 3.55 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). The offense was non-existent, and we were shut out 2-0 in the finale.

Ardon, who needs to be replaced, went just 4 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Ignacio Hinojos went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Josh Brown tossed 2.1 perfect frames with 2 strikeouts.

Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a double. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jorge Tapia was 1-for-3 with a double. Sergio Tello had a pinch hit double.

Here's a funny story: Isaac Nunez increased his hit streak to 25 games. This is while playing for Jupiter, where he's 3-for-9 in 2 games this year, 3-for-10 in 3 games in 2025, and then a full season for the Clearwater Thrashers in 2022. So this 25 game hit streak has spanned 8 seasons!

The Braves will come to town for three. We'll see Garrison Bryant (0-1, 1.42 ERA), Curt Schneider (1-4, 3.95 ERA), and Juan Ochoa (4-2, 2.63 ERA).

May 20th, 2029: We opened the series with the Braves with ace Pat Saitta (5-2, 2.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on Garrison Bryant (0-1, 1.42 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) who is making just his second start of the year after 12 relief appearences. We got a pair of runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th, to take the opener 6-3.

Saitta tossed 6.1 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Kelenic got the win, 0.2 innigns with a hit. Hall and Luis Alcantra shared the 8th for holds, and Chad Scoles struck out 2 in the 9th for the save.

Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a walk. Rogleio Maldonado was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a double, hit by pitch, and 2 RBI's. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with a two run homer, 2 runs, and walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Kelenic was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Nunez's hit streak was ended today, as he was 0-for-4 as his former team, the Clearwater Thrashers, shut the Hammerheads out 2-0. Him and Lile will join the team after this series.

May 21st, 2029: Down in New Orleans, former Phillie J.P. Crawford was named Player of the Week. He hit .407 with 3 homers and 6 RBI's.

We dropped to 4th in the Power Rankings. At 31-15, we have a 7.5 game lead over the Phillies.

The middle game of the series saw the scorching hot C.J. Jorgensen (3-2, 3.56 ERA, 0.99 WHIP) take on Curt Schneider 1-4, 3.95 ERA, 1.41 WHIP). He was solid today, and we shut them out 2-0.

Jorgensen went 6 with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Alcantra, Jake Yaerick, and Kelenic got holds with Scoles picking up the save. Kelenic struck out 2 in the 8th, and has pitched really well this year.

Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Noah Smithw as 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-3 with a walk.

May 22nd, 2029: Toronto righty Joe Perez is out for the year with shoulder inflammation. He was 0-6 with a 6.68 ERA in 10 starts that likely could have gone better.

We looked to finish the sweep with Devon Peterson (5-1, 2.82 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) looking to stay hot against Juan Ochoa (4-2, 2.63 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) who's been cold as of late, despite the excellent statline. After 9, the game was tied at 2. In the 11th, Ronald Acuna had a 2-run single and the Braves scored 3. We got 1 back in the bottom half, but the Braves edged us 5-3 to salvage the finale.

Mac Horvath left with an injury...

Peterson tossed 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Jake Yearick blew the save, 0.2 innigns with 2 hits, 2 runs, and a walk. C.J. LaFever got the loss, an inning with 5 hits and 3 runs.

Gregorio Alvarenga was 4-for-5 with 2 RBI's. Juan Ramairez was 2-for-5 with a steal and hit by pitch. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-6 with a run scored and RBI. Parker Meadows was 1-for-1 with a double and run scored. He's hitting .448/.500/.724 in 29 at bats, mostly off the bench. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 walks.

Well, I was going to send Maldonado down and callup Nunez, but with the Horvath injury, I'll hold off on that. I will option Sergio Tello to AAA and recall Daylen Lile despite his struggles on rehab.

We get tomorrow off before heading to Milwaukee!

May 23rd-May 29th

May 23rd, 2029: The Orioles lost two pitchers for the year, reliever Brean Hanifee and strter Steven Gingery. Hanifee tore his flexor tendon. He was 2-0 with a 2.23 ERA in 36.1 innings with 34 strikeouts and 7 walks. Gignery tore his rotator cuff. He was 4-3 in 10 starts with a 4.71 ERA. He struck out 28, walked 10, and allowed 63 hits in 49.2 innings.

We're headed to Milwaukee for three with the Brewers. We'll see Rodolfo Espinoza (5-1, 4.53 ERA), Victor Mederos (4-3, 3.71 ERA), and Charlie Neeper (6-1, 3.06 ERA).

May 24th, 2029: Mac Horvath was diagnosed with a strained oblique, and will just be day-to-day for 5 games. With no serious injury to Horvath, I optioned future star Rogelio Maldonado to New Orleans and recalled Isaac Nunez from his rehab assignment in Jupiter.

All-Star update: Miller third for catcher. Reid third for first. Ramirez first for left. Kelenic first for right. Saitta fourth for starters. Hinojos second and Scoles fifth for relievers.

We visited the Brewers, who actually have a better record then us (32-16). The struggling Steve Paustian (4-3, 5.26 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) would face the red-hot Rodolfo Espinoza (5-1, 4.53 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). It was a close one, but the Brewers edged us 3-2 to take the opener.

Paustian went 5 with 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Jake Yearick walked 1 in the 7th, but ended up striking out the side. Luis Alcantra got the loss, allowing a solo home run to the young lefty Joe Folger, the only batter he faced, in the 8th inning.

Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a steal and run scored. Jarred Kelenic had a pinch hit double in the 8th. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4.

May 25th, 2029: We looked to even the series with Luis Ardon (4-4, 5.00 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) facing Victor Mederos (4-3, 3.71 ERA, 1.25 WHIP). The Brew Crew got 7 in the 2nd, and crushed us 8-2. Yay...

Ardon blew up, 1.1 innings with 4 hits, 7 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos tossed 2.2 innings with 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever went 3 innings with a hit, a walk, and 4 strikeouts.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, 2 runs, and a steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4.

May 26th, 2029: Jon Reid will get a nice long rehab assignment in New Orleans.

I made a swap of struggling pitchers, sending Luis Ardon to the Colorado Rockies for Juan Coira (60% Retained). Both 30-year-olds have not had good 2028 or 2029 seasons, but have had success in the past.

Coira has spent his whole big league career at Coors Field, and has a career 67-63 record with a 4.70 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 899 strikeouts in 1,119.2 innings. He's a 3* with plys stuff and control, including a plus-plus curveball. He averages 91-93 with his fastball and can pitch deep into games.

We looked to avoid the sweep with Pat Saitta (5-2, 2.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) facing Charlie Neeper (6-1, 3.06 ERA, 1.04 WHIP). We managed to salvage the finale with a 5-3 win.

Saitta went 7 with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 12 strikeouts. Gene Hall got the hold and Chad Scoles the save. Both guys tosesd a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, and a home run. Mac Horvath was a perfect 3-for-3 with a RBI and 2 walks. Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-5 with a double and run scored. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a double, solo homer, steal, and 2 runs scored.

We're headed back home for three with the Boston Doves. We'll see Carlos Leandro (2-2, 4.57 ERA), Ryan Dease (1-5, 5.26 ERA), and Leonel Olvera (0-0, 4.15 ERA).

May 27th, 2029: We opened the series with the Doves as C.J. Jorgensen (4-2, 3.21 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) took on Carlos Leandro (2-2, 4.57 ERA, 1.60 WHIP). The Doves piled up runs on us, and took the opener 8-5 as we've entered a funk.

Jorgensen went 5 innings with 7 hits, 6 runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Josh Brown allowed a hit and 2 walks, but struck out 3 in the 6th inning. Jake Yearick allowed 2 runs and 2 hits in 0.2 innings.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a steal. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a run scored, double, and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with a double, run scored, triple, and RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a walk and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with a run scored and 2 walks.

May 28th, 2029: Down in Jupiter, C Nate Rodgers was named Florida State Player of the Week, hitting .500 with a homer and 2 RBI's.

We plumetted to 8th in the Power Rankings. At 33-19, we still have a nice 7.5 game lead over the Phillies, but we should be much farther ahead.

We looked to even the series with Devon Peterson (5-1, 2.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) taking on former Marlin Leonel Olvera (0-0, 4.15 ERA, 2.08 WHIP) starting over the suspended Ryan Dease. We tried to lose, but Juan Simental took former Marlin Marco Jimenez deep for a walk-off three run homer and we took the middle match 4-3.

Peterson went 4.2 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra allowed 2 hits and a run without getting an out. Pat Riley got the win, 2 innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts.

Juan Simental was 4-for-5 with a steal, and then a solo homer in the 3rd and the walkoff in the 9th. Eric Kisela was 3-for-3 with a walk and double. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Juan Ramirez and Chris Reid were both 1-for-4. Daylen Lile was 1-for-1 and a run scored.

May 29th, 2029: The Giants will be without RHP Josh Canseco for the year with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. He was 1-2 with a 3.92 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 41.1 innings.

Juan Coira (4-4, 5.65 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) was set to make his Marlnis debut against former Marlin Jarred Jackson (2-2, 4.24 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). It took 12 innings to declare a winner, but Ignacio Hinojos walked in a run to give the Doves a 7-6 lead. Luckily, we had our second straight walk-off three run homer, this time courtesy of Jarred Kelenic and we won the finale 9-7.

It was an ugly series, but we were able to take two of three.

Pat Riley left with an injury...

Coira went 5 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, and 2 strikeouts. LaFever walked 2 and didn't get an out, with one of the runs scoring. Jake Yearick allowed 2 hits and a run with an inning and strikeout. Scole and Hall tossed an inning a piece with 2 strikeouts. Hinojos got the win, despite walking three, allowing the run, and getting a strikeout.

Isaac Nunez was 3-for-6 with 2 runs, an RBI, and a steal. Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a homer, 2 walks, and a steal. Juan Simental was 2-for-6 with a run scored. Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI's. Chris Reid was 2-for-5 with a solo homer and 2 run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored.

Rockies RF Art Bryant was 5-for-5 in a 9-4 win over the Montreal Expos.

We're off to San Diego for three with the Padres. We'll face Dominic Pipkin (3-3, 3.91 ERA), Josh Hearn (3-5, 6.79 ERA), and Josh Ferland (6-1, 3.49 ERA).

May 30th-June 5th

May 30th, 2029: Starting with this post, on the Power Rankings Day of each week (Monday) I'll do little "prospect updates" of certain guys in the minors, whether they are big name guys, or just middle and lower level ones who are having a hot streak.

Pat Riley was placed on the DL with a strained abdominal muscle. He'll miss about 6 weeks. I optioned Jake Yearick to AAA, and recalled Cho-yeong Hyoun and Joe Kramer.

We opened up the series in San Diego. Steve Paustian (4-3, 5.10 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) took the mound against former Marlins draftee Dominic Pipkin (3-3, 3.91 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). We continued our rough spell with a 4-2 loss.

It wasn't Paustian's fault, and he tossed 6 shutout innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic didn't get an out, but allowed a pair of solo homers. Gene Hall got the loss, 0.1 innings with 2 hits and 2 runs.

Jorge Tapia was 2-for-4 with a double. Chris Reid was 1-for-1 with 2 walks, a hit by pitch, and a two run homer. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a triple, walk, steal, and run scored. Daylen Lie was 1-for-4.

May 31st, 2029: Fan vote update: Miller third for catcher. Reid third for first. Ramirez was first for left. Kelenic is second for right. Saitta is fifth for starters. Hinojos is second and Scoles is fifth for relievers.

We looked to even the series back up with Pat Saitta (6-2, 2.67 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) taking on Josh Hearn (3-5, 6.70 ERA, 1.61 WHIP). Tied at 3 after 9, Jarred Kelenic hit a three run homer in a four run 10th, and we won 7-3.

Saitta pitched well, 6 innings with 3 hits, a run, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Cho-yeong Hyoun allowed 2 hits and 2 runs in the 7th while striking out the side. Ignacio Hinojos got the win, 2 innings with 2 hits and 4 strikeouts. Joe Kramer pitched a 3 pitch 10th.

Saitta hit just as good as he pitched, 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored and walk. Kelenic was 1-for-5 with the big three run homer. Juan Simental had a pinch hit RBI double and scored. Eric Kisela had a pinch hit single in the 10th, and scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-5 with a double and RBI.

June 1st, 2029: The Washington Senators and Philadelphia Phillies made a trade to start June. RHP Steve Hudson will head to the Phillies in exchange for RHP Steve Jackson and LHP Yasunari Georgeon. I like this deal for both teams.

We looked to take the finale with C.J. Jorgensen (4-3, 3.78 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) taking on Josh Ferland (6-1, 3.49 ERA, 1.21 WHIP). We looked bad today, despite the 2 runs in the 9th, and we lost 5-3.

Jorgensen went 6 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 2 walks, and a strikeout. Cho-yeong Hyoun tossed 2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a double. C.J. Jorgensen was 1-for-2 with a double. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-5 with a steal and run scored.

We're headed home for three with the Rockies. We'll see Ty Madden (2-5, 4.66 ERA), Shoehi Ohtani (3-4, 5.03 ERA), and Eric Dawson (4-4, 4.85 ERA).

June 2nd, 2029: We opened the Rockies series in Marlins Park with Devon Peterson (5-1, 2.63 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Ty Madden (2-5, 4.66 ERA, 1.52 WHIP). They got 4 in the 5th, and took the opener 7-2...

Peterson went 4.1 innings with 5 hits, 6 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever went 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos struck out the side with 2 hits in the 8th.

Isaac Nunez was 4-for-5 with a run scored. Jorge Tapia was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Eric Kisela had a pinch hit RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a walk. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a walk.

July 3rd, 2029: The Houston Astros will be without SS Luis Victoriano Garcia for the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He hit .186/.260/.310 with 90 homers and 359 RBI's.

The Red Sox will be without RHP Vladimir Gutierrez for the year with a torn labrum. He was 0-2 with a 5.15 ERA in 36.2 innings.

Juan Coira (4-4, 5.78 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) would play against his former team and former Marlin Shoehi Ohtani (3-4, 5.03 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). Coira had revenge on the mind, and we shut them out 7-0.

Coira went 8.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 10 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever got the last two outs, tossing 5 pitches and getting a pair of fly outs.

Isaac Nunez was 3-for-5 with a two run homer. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a double, and walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a walk. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and a run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with 2 walks.

June 4th, 2029: The Padres will be without RHP Kinnon Linfoot for the rest of the year with a stretched elbow ligament. He was 5-2 in 16 games (5 starts) with a 2.45 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 44 innings.

We moved up to 4th in the Power Rankings. At 37-22, we have a 7.5 game lead in the division.

And now, without further adieu, the first installment of the "Prospect Watch," a new weekly installment on prospects in the organization:

Zaire Monyham, SP (New Orleans Baby Cakes): He's spent a bit of time in the Majors (although no appearences), but is ranked our #17 Prospect. The 26-year-old has won his last three starts, and has been red-hot as of late. In 10 games with the Baby Cakes (9 starts), he's 5-2 with a 3.54 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts. He's dropped a bit in prospect status, but the 41st Overall Pick by Minnesota in 2024 still displays plus-plus stuff. He's got an elite curveball, plus-plus fastball that averages 96-98, and a plus change. He may not be the best guy in the farm, but he can be a useful longman if I need to grab a fresh arm for a breif period of time.

We looked to take the finale with Steve Paustian (4-3, 4.60 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) taking on Eric Dawson (4-4, 4.85 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). It was another good pitching performance, and we topped them 7-1 to take the series. I think we may be back!

Well, Juan Simental won't be, he sprained his ankle and will head to the DL for 2 weeks. Mac Horvath left with a knee contusion, but he might not miss more then a game.

Puastian went 6.2 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 4 strikeouts. Josh Brown got the hold, 1.1 innings with 2 strikeouts and a hold.

Simental was 2-for-3 with 2 runs and a double. Eric Kisela came off the bench and was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a grand slam. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a run scored and steal. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-2 with a walk and sac-fly. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-2 with a RBI, walk, and hit by pitch. Paustian was 1-for-2 with a sac-bunt.

Simental is headed to the DL, and I'm calling up Jon Reid from his rehab assignment.

Cody Bellinger got his 2,000th career hit. The Red Sox slugger has a career .280/.378/.590 line with 592 homers and 1,561 RBI's with 254 steals.

We have tomorrow off to completely foucs on the Amateur Draft.

June 5th, 2029: Today is a nice off day for the Amateur Draft which will occurr in a post of it's own.

We're on to Chicago for three with the Cubs. We'll face Jared Taylor (4-0, 6.46 ERA), Jose Espada (2-5, 4.33 ERA), and Jorge Flores (5-3, 2.55 ERA) who must like pitching in Chicago again.

But, on to the draft!
