That would be because of Jim Palmer's #22 being retired. Sooo many great #21s to pick from though, so I'm not sure he'll make the cut.

Good call Jackson. I was looking to possibly post Jim Palmer as well.

And I think he is a pretty good broadcaster as well.

He's got a voice that's very easy to listen to. Very conversational, knowledgeable, intelligent and articulate. I like how he calls out our (at times, and the vast minority - read drunken idiots who can't hold their $13 beers or whatever they cost now - even if I drank, I doubt I would be that freakin' stupid) dumb fans for throwing crap on the field too. Wish the dumb-dumbs would stop, but at least he rightly gives them hell for it. I thought he was spectacular on the unfortunate night that Mike Flanagan took his own life. It must've been incredibly difficult for him, but I thought he handled it extremely well.

Don't let my posting of him stop you, particularly if you're a fan of the Orioles. I haven't seen to many O's posters in the thread so far, so I figured he was a safe choice. You might even come up with a better image than mine.

You are right, I haven’t seen many O’s fans here yet, so I appreciate that someone posted Palmer, and that’s a very good picture.

This thread is a lot of fun and I have been checking it every day.

On the broadcaster note I agree; he is easy to listen-to and knowledgeable. For some reason, the Orioles usually have pretty good broadcast teams, both radio and TV.

There's no such thing as double jeopardy in this thread folks. Fire away. Just because a guy's been posted once, doesn't mean he can't be posted again. Who cares if we double up or triple up?

Magic number is 21.

Paul O'Neill, aptly nicknamed "The Warrior" by George Steinbrenner.

Yes, he gained far more of his fame as a member of the Red Sox, but the two seasons he was with us were absolutely epic for him personally. 41-13, 2.33 ERA, 563 K in 498.2 IP and 20.1 bWAR, 2 Cy Young Awards. Whoa! We found later that there may have been certain reasons for his resurgence, but it was still the two greatest pitching seasons we've ever seen back to back in this town. It was something else to watch. Only problem was, not enough people did. Toronto suffered a lot of backlash over the 1994 lockout/strike/work stoppage, and we couldn't get too many out to the games even when Clemens pitched. I myself didn't go back to a game until 1998 and I love baseball. All-time great pitcher. Note to Red Sox fans, please don't let this dissuade you from posting him in his more familiar colours. I just had to get him in because he's all we've got at #21. Roger Clemens #21

This guy and Sain and pray for rain was how the Braves used to roll. They were much more than him and Sain of course, but this southpaw was a huge part of their success. Warren Spahn #21

A very brave man who did a lot for black players and for all players in general when he fought the establishment in baseball.

And another of those guys who could have had great careers if it wasn't derailed by nagging injuries - our very own, Cal Eldred.
