OK. You still have me at a loss. Should I be viewing it in something other than Notepad to see whatever it is you want me to see?

AI GM signs aging player to a contract extension. I didn't think this was even possible with reserve clause financials enabled. I can't do it, but ok.

But then the AI puts the player on the trading block two days later. Why sign the extension?

Orcin, does the AI think about the future or make each decision on a day to day basis?

At the time of the extension was he the best 1B on the team and from available free agents?

What was his morale? Maybe the team signed him and came into the locker upset and demanded a trade?

Since there is no interaction with the AI we are left guessing on the logic.

On the first question/comment- and I'm far from an expert on historicals -I think even with the reserve clause financials, you still need to check or uncheck the setting box that enables/disables extensions.

I think the latter, but I wish for the former.

There are no free agents in this league with unlimited reserve rosters. He was not the best first baseman on the team. He was not starting and he had been unhappy about it for a few weeks according to the news reports.

He was unhappy (see above). Since it is the reserve clause era, you might be right about this. The team may have forced an extension that made him revolt.

I can't find that box. There is a setting for multi-year contracts (which I have set to "yes, only star players") but I don't know if that enables and disables extensions. However, if it did, then you would think that the human player would be able to negotiate an extension also. That option is unavailable to me.

The player's contract info does not show the contract extension, and looks like this on all players:

However, his team's salary info page does show Jim Gentile's contract extension, so it survived his trade.
