Indeed it would. I am a Linux only user and I absolutely love OOTP Baseball. Would be great if I would be able to play this game natively.

Why not just use a normal operating system?

I'm curious. What's unnormal about Linux? Anyway, I do not wan't a non free operating system running on my machines. And I'm not going to run Windows or OSX just for gaming.

Linux is great! It can do everything Windows can do - and more. Moreover, it's completely free and very customisable.

Linux is a perfectly normal OS. Lots of everyday items run Linux - e.g. digital video recorders and mobile phones (Android is based on Linux).

Anyway, I'm digressing somewhat. If the game isn't available on Linux then you may want to try something like CrossOver for Linux which is similar to WINE but is more user-friendly (IMHO). I have been able to successfully install and run EHM 2007 using CrossOver on Ubuntu. The company that develops CrossOver (Codeweavers) frequently offer discounts on the software. I seem to recall paying about £15 for it.

Yes, I've already managed to successfully run EHM2007 on WINE. But I always prefer native games over a WINE installation.

Yeah native would be great - but I guess somewhat optimistic. Not many/any developers of the more mainstream games seem to bother with Linux.

How did you find EHM ran in WINE? Both myself and another user (B. Stinson) found that it appeared to run slightly faster than in Windows. At the time, I think I was using CrossOver and B. Stinson was using WINE.

It's running absolutely flawless. I can't say anything about the speed though, since I haven't used it with Windows.

As for gaming companies and Linux: Since OOTP releases Baseball for Linux, I am really hoping, that they will support Linux with Hockey, too.

I was wondering - will the game be able to handle teams like the "USA Hockey National Team Developement Program"?

Just bumping this question :-)

Any idea if teams like this will be possible?

The U.S. National Development Team already exists in our database, but we will handle the team for now as a normal United States Hockey League Team.

If possible, could you at least make the team only sign american players? This was a problem in EHM, where the team unrealistically would have canadians and other non-american players on the roster.

Actually, if the team just signed only americans, and only players a bit above average, then it would be almost perfect :-)

There are Canadian kids irl who go and play in that program, so that's not unrealistic.

Then they probably have US Citizenship. If you look at the roster, then only americans play on the team:

Eliteprospects.com - USNTDP Juniors

It would not make sense either to have non-US citizens on the team. Why would a national team developement program use funds to train players who are not eligible for the US nationalteam?

It's kinda morbid for me to ask for this, but will players/coaches/owners(if there are any) pass away? I'm asking this moreso when they retire and get old. Read through the HOF book and that info of the year they passed is in their. Morbid or realistic? I'll let you decide.

I just hate looking through retired players in EHM and seeing their age being incorrect and i don't care to see players age 122 either...so one way or another i think it's a relevant question to a small degree.

Also someone mentioned the idea of having the ability to decide things like ticket prices. Isn't that more the President and Owner doing those sort of things then the GM?

No, they will not pass away. I think we will only show the birthdate and the retirement date of a retired player and not his age.

In the first version, it will not be possible to adjust the ticket price. We may incorparate a detailed ticket/arena management in a later version.

As a big OOTP and hockey fan, I've been lurking around here for awhile but just wanted to say, I could not be more excited for this game. Looking forward to it!
