Is he really above average? All's I know is he won't play until '08 and we have enough injured guys already. And I was also hoping McBeth would replace Witasick sometime soon.

I saw his PECOTA forecast posted on another message board, and the OPS was in the high 700s. So he would be above average if he could play a decent defensive CF, about average on the corners.

That's the thing. It's a lot easier to find a reliever to take Witasick's place (I can think of at least 4 guys in the A's organization right now not including McBeth) than it is to find a good defensive outfielder capable of a .750-.800 OPS

The Charles Thomas era is over. If he didn't join the club with all of these injuries, he would never.

JD Closser used to be a decent Rockies prospect.
Really, getting a player with a glove and a pulse in exchange for Thomas is cool, since the dude was waived like 3 times and never claimed. Oh, and Swisher 3 run bomb to win the game

Yeah, nice to see Swisher getting hot (that ball went a looooooooong way). Cust went yard today and the A's got a 2 out, 2 strike base hit from Melhuse to score a couple runs also. Nice game keep it rollin.

I was wondering why Billy didn't try to get Durazo back, but Cust's off-field HR yesterday was very sweet.

Thats a second win in as many games. Nothin' like playing the Royals when you need a victory.
Kendall update: OPS < .400 What is the lowest OPS for a complete year?

I remember the A's getting stymied by Jorge de la Rosa last year so it's good to see them do what they should do against him.
note - I still can't watch MLB.tv or even watch highlights online because I'm at a hotel with crappy internet that makes it impossible to stream video online. I haven't watched an A's game since Dallas Braden's debut against Baltimore. Hopefully back to normal by the 21st!

Ah, Whoops. 8 is his actual OPS+? I didn't think it went down that low.

Looks like the A's bats decided to show up today. Johnson has been hot, even Chavez got a homer today. Lets see if we can put a couple games like this in a row.
Snelling had to leave the game due to an ankle/knee injury, lets hope we can avoid another player on the DL. -Buck was unavailable due to his wrists. Cust reminds me a lot of Matt Stairs, does anyone else see that?

Great to see the hit parade and a solid outing by JK thus far...but it is the Royals after all...mind you, we're both fielding AAAA teams at the moment.
Ugh...just what we need, another injured OF and we better not see Cust out there...yikes!!! I'm guessing we'll be pleading with MLB to allow us to use a couple of undrafted kids for a couple of weeks to tide us over until the draft so we can field a healthy starting OF!!! LOL!!!
