Since I dont have any teams I root for in the Premiership and since I sympathize with the plight of poorer franchises, I have adopted Wigan. I'm not sure they want me but I've already made up my mind. And its August and optimism reigns supreme around the football world.

Third instalment of my triple header of football today is.

Hull City 1 v 2 Derby County

KC Stadium, Hull.
Capacity 25,000
Attendance 15,621

Attachment 53021

Teams claims to fame are that Hull is the biggest city in England never to have had a team in the top division of English football.

Derby County are one of the great names of English football would love to see them in the top division again, anyways their old stadium used to be called the Baseball Ground simply because they used to play baseball there after Francis Ley cameback from a trip to the US in 1889 and introduced Britain to baseball.

Hull City 4-4-2

1 GK B Myhill
21 RB S Ricketts
6 CB M Turner
23 CB S Collins (booked 73 min)
3 LB A Dawson
27 RM C Fagan
22 CM D Marney
24 CM D Livermore (booked 52 min)
29 LM R France
11 ST J Parkin (goal 45 min pen)
15 ST D Duffy

Subs: 7 LM S Elliott (France 79 min), 8 CM N Barmby (Duffy 34 min) (booked 38 min), 12 GK M Duke, 17 CM K Andrews (Livermore 81 min), 20 RB A Thelwell

Derby County 4-3-1-2

? GK S Bywater
6 LB M Johnson
17 CB P Boertien
23 CB D Moore (booked 48 min)
14 RB R Jackson
7 ST T Smith (goal 74 min pen)
18 CM S Johnson
22 CM M Oakley (goal 7 min) (booked 77 min)
27 CM M I Idiakez
9 ST S Howard
28 ST G Barnes

Subs: 4 CM A Bolder (Barnes 85 min), 8 LM M Bisgaard, 11 ST P Peschisolido, 15 CM R Smith (Johnson 58 min), ? CB D Leacock (Jackson 78 min)

Ref: K Woolmer

Very good game, all you want in a game goals, passion and controversial decisions with both Derby goals.

Not a poor team we have a rich chairman we call Uncle Dave but we don't spend as much as what people think as we have imo one of the best if not the best young English managers in football who brings players in on a bargain and sell's players over their worth imo, we have a small fanbase as the town is really a rugby town but things have been changing the last year or two.

I can't see us ever really being a title contender but one of those teams who could win an FA Cup or League Cup now and again and a UEFA Cup place every so often.

Been hard to attract players to the club but hopefully if we can finish top 10 on a regular basis that will change round.

It may have been posted before but found this before, it's a site that shows up to the minute scores of pretty much every league you could imagine.

Also if you click on the score it shows you the goal scores, bookings and so on, although you do have to wait till full time on some of the lesser known leagues to see the scorers.

Oh to have been in Finland today to watch the Kokkolan PV v Klubi 04 game were Inutie scored for Klubi in the 44 min only for Kokkolan to equalise through Piisipanen in the 49 min.

Then Inutie scores his second and Klubi's second in the 51 min to make it 2-1 to Klubi, the game had only just restarted when Corr made it 2-2 as he equalised for the second time for Kokkolan in the 52 min.

If the game couldn't get any better up stepped penalty taker Juha in the 81 min to score Kokkolan's third and take them into the lead for the first time in the game, but all was not lost as Inutie also stepped up to take a penalty in the 87 min to slot his hat trick goal in to equalise for Klubi to finish the game Kokkolan PV 3 v 3 Klubi 04 what a game.

Another great game taking shape is in Poland where after 45 mins the score is Zaglebie 2 v 3 Cracovia, and knowing what prices some teams charge to get in at games around Europe you'd probably have only paid around $3 to get in

Yes, and Altrincham are still in the Conference National this season as well.

I have to agree, FC United have no place in non-league football. If fans at every club were to get upset by something that happened at their club you would have hundreds of extra clubs being setup...
Also, all they are doing is hurting other local non-league clubs by taking (potential?) fans from those teams, so reducing the amount of money they get.
They have little chance of even reaching the Conference IMO, and certainly never the Premiership. I expect they will be non-existant within five years.

Also in other news, Barrow have started the Conference North season in the same vain as last - they lost at home to Worcester City. In fact for the amount of times that they don't lose, I don't know why I bother checking their result, as I already know it is going to be a loss.

Luckily, Paul, you don't support any club . For this very reason I have found myself getting my sports fixes in the gaming arena where the results usually are better and the blame is all mine. Is there any logical reason why Barrow cant return to their previous glory??

They haven't got much money.
As you know they very nearly went bankrupt, and not only did they pay off the debt, but also bought Holker Street back from the leaseholder.

Not to mention they've had one of the worst managers in the world for the previous three seasons in Lee Turnbull, who fell out with most of the better players, and also told the fans once that he didn't care what they thought about him. At least he's gone now, because he is a joke as a manager - he comes from the Graeme Souness school of managers I think.

And the weird thing is he is now at another former Football League club, Southport, as their assistant manager. I sure hope they don't promote him up one level...

since a top-flight premier league team can be had for a handful of millions, how much could a champ, d1 or even conference team be had for?

This should make it an interesting and challenging task for their new manager who is trying to do what you are doing in FM. It sounds as if their financial situation has not only been stabilized but maximized. If only you were their manager; or someone who grew up loving the team . You are the anti Lee Turnbull and after a period of adjustment they would all love playing for you.

No idea what the going rate is for football teams, some even go for £1 about $1.80 forgot which team it was but the new owner had to take the debts on.

It has amazed me that no clever entrepenuer hasnt started a channel that only shows football. 24/7. There must be hundreds of matches a day being televised around the world.

in related news they are pulling the NFL Network here Sept 3 because Time/Warner thinks the NFL is asking too much for it. I sey good riddance. Why make the average middleclass none NFL watcher pay a few extra dollars a month to make millionaires into billionaires.
