IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

Wow, I hope Fred never stumbles onto my dynasty. I would be absolutely heartbroken to learn from him that Roy Hitt and Del Mason didn't win 300 games.

That would pale, however, compared to my utter despair at the revelation that Pat O'Farrell never actually played major league baseball.

Yes, I had heard that in past - good times.

The pricetag on fictional bats should be really cheap. I'll take twelve dozen. Does she have any info on fictional baseballs?

About a year or so ago I remember that someone posted an e-mail from a guy that had written him to see where he could send tapes because he wanted to play for one of the teams.

Today I get this one

I directed him to Baseball Almanac. These things never get boring though. Maybe I should of given him Drew Rosenhaus's website.

Maybe you should have directed him to Fred Carroll?

Has there been anymore contact with Fred Carroll? I was hoping for more words of wisdom from the great man!

Well, I sent Fred a "nice" email inviting him to this thread and my '60's historical online league.

My thoughts exactly. I wonder if we are thinking of the same person?

Please bow your heads in respect of Fred's superior intellectual horsepower

I'm Commish of the Shiba League...that's the third "you have statistical errors" e-mail I've received. The first two had a sense of humor about it when I explained the whole 'fake baseball' thing to them.

Part of me thinks Fred Carroll is actually a really funny guy and I just don't get the joke.

Or not.

... That's funny stuff! ..

Looks like your friend Freddy missed his calling as it appears he would have been more than qualified for a position along side John Kerry and the DNC! Probably either in the "we just don't get it" or the "can we please buy a clue" committee!

I recieved the following from Fred himself:

Sorry to be so late responding. As you might suspect, this statistics conspiracy has proved to be quite overwhelming and might lead into many other realms. For instance, I'm watching the Indy 500 and they're making a big deal about Danica Patrick. They should be ashamed! Seems to me that I saw somewhere on the web that Patty Aspromonte won the whole damn thing during the Aspromonte Decade. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction on that one, if you have the time. [Maybe that Commish guy knows something on this ]

Got to go. There is just too much to do and not much help being offered.

My brother is out of work and wants to know if any of your teams migh need a trainer. He has no experience but does have a degree in massage therapy. Please let me know if you can help him on this - it would be a dream come to!

Thanks again.

Fred

Maybe we should add Fred to Time Warp. Imagine his confusion when he finds out HE played in the majors.
