Odd that this particular problem would affect all of us at about the same time. Do you have any leads on where the corrupt data may be?

This might help find the problem if not the solution. I want back to an older saved Catobase data file from my league (after 1945) from my catobase and then reimported 1946 with no problems at all. However, when I went to import 1947 (the season that first gave me these problems) I had the exact same issue on team abbreviations occurring.
I looked through my Cato access file for the league and found that for whatever reason the teamposchart table did not update for 1946 in both cases. With the original file and with the new test I tried today. I have no idea why it is not importing as I am doing nothing different and tried it a second time with a backup league file but in both cases it did not add that data. Sporr, can you check your team pos chart table and see if it did not import the season prior to your current year. If so, maybe we can manually add the data somehow and solve this issue.

I think you may be on to something. My teamposchart table is also not updated for my season. Instead, one team's positional players are listed with a year of '0' instead of 2012 in my case. However, I wonder if there is some other corruption in the program that is leading to this problem. Could it have something to do with the team abbreviation issue in the program? i.e. which problem is causing the other one and which problem is the true root of the trouble?

Yes, there most be something more to it. I tried adding the 1946 data manually into the teamposchart prior to importing 1947 but got the same crash.

Did you all just update to OOTP 6.12? Could be a subtle tweak by Markus throwing Catobase all out of whack.

I noticed that the program first gives me an error when it is trying to read the ltrans.txt file. I'm not sure how that would relate, though, since the ltrans file doesn't use team abbreviations. |

6: 6/11 1: some transactions 6: 6/12 1: some transactions 6: 6/11 1: some transactions Also this happens when a player has more than one transaction on the same day. Multiple trades on the same day will cause problems - and this may give you the abbreviation problem if the system is expecting the games to be played for team 2 and your player is actually now on team 3..... look for these in the file....... |

Well, I have examined all of these issues and still can't find a solution. For all of us to be having this problem at the same time seems strange. I'm wondering if ANYBODY has been able to use Cato recently without this error. If not, there must be some system issue that is causing this. Or maybe not. I'm just all tapped out of ideas and wish I could figure out how to get it to work.

If I can somehow fix that one, I'll let you know if I get this one too.

Guys, I managed to work through the error and get my Cato updated for the year that was choking it!
I did 3 things, but I think the last one was the most important. 1. Removed all cash from trades in the ltrans.txt file - I did this because I had read that the cash part was confusing the program in some cases. 2. I examined the prior year's ltrans file and found that only one item was really different - in the year that I was having problems, waiver claims were showing up 2 different ways. I edited each to read like Example A since that was the way it was done uniformly the year before. A.) Team X: Claimed Player Y off waivers from Team Z. B.) Team X: Player Y was claimed off waivers from Team Z. 3. After searching the board and reading this thread, I found one, single, tiny little instance where a player page was being cited as rXXXX instead of pXXXX. I changed the r to p and everything went according to plan. As I said before, I think this is the one that was causing the problems. |

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to fix things for our league. I made all of the suggested corrections, but I still get the abbreviation error followed by the runtime error.
