Very nice first time effort.

The only real suggestion I have right now (I can probably find more if I look hard enough) is whenever you are designing graphics to be used on the web, be sure to save it in .gif format. Especially banners and large images. I noticed that your banner is about 42 KB. Not HUGE, but plenty large (so is mine, though ). If you save that in .gif format, that will greatly reduce the file size.

Unfortunately, mine is very graphic-intensive, so I optimized it in ImageReady, saved it in .gif, and it's still ~32 KB.

I think you should stick to doing just logos...especially mine.

Seriously, you do banners as well as logos...excellently.

I like the way you did the "ghost" effect on the players.

Being very, very picky, I think the font for the lettering and numbers for the WJAB and the frequencies could be better. IMO pepeda's choice of font is simpler, clearer and is easier to read. But you know me...the old stick-in-the-mud traditionalist that doesn't like anything fancy.

I am having a website constructed for my alltime allstar league. I will need a banner for it. I hope all of you...or at least one of you...will do it for me. All of you do excellent graphics. I will post the request in a few days when I find out what size it will be and other details. I have already decided on the colors and some of the script.

Not trying to step on dbacks' toe here but gif is actually better for graphics with solid colors. In this case, FastLane's banner has a lot of gradient, and to properly preserve the look of the banner, it is best to save it as JPG. If the file size is getting out of hands, simple toggle the "blur" or "quality" sliders to adjust it to the optimal setting of your liking.

Cuss...

that is an excellent point...hehe, one I seem to remember reading somewhere--but, obviously, it has since slipped my mind...thanks for reminding me of that tip. YOU ROCK

EC, you are too kind and have been ultra-supportive of my efforts on here. I'm thankful for guys like you and the other senior members of the board who really know how to keep this ship on an even keel. You rock, too!

And if you are in any way offended by my post, I appologize.

I think he was, Cuss...

...dbacks has always been pretty good natured and seems to be one of those guys with the playful sarcastic humor.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

And if you did get offended, Dbacks, have some flowers...on me.

Well, since I happen to be in the holiday spirit (thanks to your post at the GFBL forums), I suppose I can forgive you.

Wow, just checked in. Great job to ALL of you that did this. I really think you guys are as talented as ANY graphic guru i've encountered.

Fastlane-You said that banner was your first attemt, you only do logos. Thats simply amazing! It just goes to show what kind of skills you have to be able to be able to jump into such a project. To jump in and not even appear to be a newbie at banners either i should add. That Banner looks like it could be from a graphical genius, not a first timer. I read that you wanted some contrustional critisim. I cant really find much that can better it, only that as EC mentioned, the font for WJAB could be a little simplier. I really liked pepedas font on his attempt on the banner... I like how you put the "ghost" affect on the players as EC also mentioned. I also like the blue color. Thats the color of the website and i know it will blend in well. Thanks for your time and effort, and continue to do banners, your very talented!

dbacks-Thanks for taking time to do this. Your banner was very nice looking. I liked how you put a bottom section of just the players with no text, that was great. I liked the font you picked also, not to fancy and easy to read. I also like the espn WJAB style you put in there, very nice. I did see a couple things that i think would make it a little better, if you do so chose to use these idea is fine, i am not trying to down your work at all, its very good as is. The color of the banner is kind of dark for the website. The website is a light blue color, and i think if the banner color was more of a lighter blue, it would look like it goes to the website better. Also, i think someone mentioned this EC? But the player pics you used on the bottom, are the same as the ones on top, if they were different, that would look great! Also, Fastlane and Pepeda both put the stations dial number in large font, so it would be easy to see, and like EC said, thats probally the most important part of the banner.. All and all, you do fantastic work, and it shows on this banner, thanks for your time and effort. I read your going to try this again, and i am anxiously awaiting the new version!

Pepeda-Great job on your banner. I liked the font you picked and the size. Everything showed up well and was easy to read. You are very talented at these and i have always like seeing the fruits from your labor. Theres not much that can better the banner imho, except maybe making it a lighter blue. I know that the site itself is a baby blue color, and i think it is the banner itself was that color, it would flow with the site easier. Thanks for your effort again!

Revised banner...

BW, you were right, that font for the station letters did, indeed, suck...hopefully, this is better.
