I'll will eventually play one day's schedule about every 3 days. I have two fictional leagues that I enjoy, too. That means I have 28 games to play one day in each of the leagues. I have been playing them for about 2 months prior to the alltime allstar league. Right now I'm really getting into this league. I play 8 games a day...maybe up to 16...and ignore my fictionals. I really get involved with the writeups of the game, but as you stated in a previous post, it is very time-consuming. It is good to see Ruth, Sisler, Ott, Cobb and all the other great players come alive again. It is a lot easier to play the game because I know the historical players and don't have to take much time to make pitching changes and subs...but with the fictionals I haven't learned them well enough yet, so I need charts and notes to make pitching changes. I designate all pitchers as MR's so they can pitch more often when I use one as a starter. The game allow MR's to pitch more days in a row than a SP...at least that what I was told in a thread.

I will give the writeups another week. If the views per day drop off I will take that as a sign nobody but a few of us are interested and probably do a shorter version.

Thanks for the interest and comments. It is helpful.

In Junior Circuit play at Yankee Stadium, New York unleashed their power by blasting the Detroit Tigers 12 to 5 and evened their record at 2-2. Lou Gehrig had a grand slammer, 3 hits and 6 rbi's, Joe DiMaggio a homer, 3 hits, 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in and Joe Gordon 3 hits to pace the way to the win. Herb Pennock went all the way for the win despite giving up a whopping 14 hits. Greenberg and Cobb each had 4 hits in a losing cause. Tommy Bridges suffered the loss for the Tigers, who took a 4 to 0 lead in the early innings only to see the Yankees come back and score 12 runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings. The Tigers fell to 1 and 3.

Ed Rommel just about single-handedly tamed Chicago at the Philadelphia A's home opener. He stopped the Sox 9 to 1 on a 7 hitter and just about outhit them himself with 3 hits, 2 doubles and 2 rbi's. Miguel Tejada went 4 for 5. Ted Lyons took the loss.

Washington picked up their third win in four starts on the season in Baltimore. The Nats easily shellacked the Orioles 12 to 5 as Walter Johnson won for the second time. He was perfect at the plate going 4 for 4 and driving in 5 runs. On the mound he wasn't quite as effective, allowing 4 runs and 12 hits. Kirby Puckett add 3 hits and 3 rbi's for the winners. Ken Williams had 3 hits and a homer for the Birds. Jim Palmer suffered the loss, giving up 7 runs in only 5 innings.

In the team's first home game of the season, Cleveland garnered their third in a row 7 to 3 over the Boston Red Sox. Bob Lemon was not real sharp and despite control problems, he went all the way for the victory. He walked 6 batters and gave up 8 hits. Hitting honors for the Tribe went to Earl Averill, who contributed 4 rbi's with a double and a triple. Lefty George Ruth was the Red Sox loser, being shelled for 6 runs in 6 innings of work.

(Maybe the Sox should trade him or make him an outfielder. He seems to hit better than he pitches. )

In National League action at Ebbets Field, the Dodgers continued unbeaten and won their 4th straight game. Lefthander Sandy Koufax held the Braves at bay for a 6-4 victory, his second of the season. He struck out 7 and walked only one in a complete game outing. Brooklyn backed him with a 14 hit attack led by Pee Wee Reese and Ron Cey, who hammered home runs. Lou Burdette was the victim and took the loss. Chipper Jones chipped in a four bagger for Atlanta.

Cincinnati improved to a 3 and 1 record as they edged the Cubs in Chicago 2 to 1. Ted Kluszewski singled in Frank Robinson from second base for the winning run. Earlier in the game Robinson homered in the 4th inning. Sammy Sosa accounted for the Cubbies only score with a 6th inning roundtripper. Bucky Walters was the real star of the game, but he struggled with his control and walked 6 batters, but came through in the clutch when he had to. Tough luck Ferguson Jenkins pitched a 5 hitter in defeat.

The Dominican Dandy, Juan Marichal, was in fine form for the New York Giants. He beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4 to 3 in the Polo Grounds home opener, holding the Phils to 7 hits, while whiffing 6 and giving away only 2 free passes. In the bottom of the 8th, Matt Williams singled in Jack Clark and Mel Ott to bring home the victory. Phillies' starter, Pete Alexander, had a fine outing and left with the score tied 2-2 after 7 innings, totalling 7 strikeouts and walking none. Reliever Jim Konstanty sustained the loss. The hapless Phils are still looking for their first win this season and now have lost 4 straight.

Babe Adams' superb pitching, backed by the Pirates 14 hit attack, crushed the Cardinals 10 to 2. Adams was never in trouble and breezed a 7 hit triumph. Jason Kendall led the Bucs' offensive onslaught with 3 hits and 3 rbi's. Roberto Clemente got his second homer of the season and slugger Ralph Kiner added another. Harry "The Cat" Brecheen really had an off day and was the losing pitcher for the Redbirds.

In the American League, the Yankees continued to roll and made it 3 in a row by edging Detroit 3 to 2. Whitey Ford (1-1) evened his record with a superlative performance, limiting the hardhitting Tigers to just 2 runs and 7 hits. Hal Newhouser was almost as good, leaving for a pinchhitter in the top of the ninth, trailing 2 to 0. Harry Coveleski (0-1) took over for him and took the loss. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, pinchhitter Bill Dickey punched Yogi Berra across with a clutch single and won the game. Mickey Mantle led the New York hitters with 3 hits and Derek Jeter had the game's only homer.

In Cleveland, Herb Score (1-1) regained his southpaw touch in his second start and blunted the Bosox 4 to 3 and got the best of Cy Young (1-1). He got the win with ninth inning help from Don Mossi. Al Rosen's two run single in the 8th was the game winner. Young went all the way allowing 4 runs and 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking one. Score pitched a 7 hitter, struck out 7 and walked 5.

Baltimore got back on the win track after 2 losses. They nipped the Washington Nationals 3 to 2 as Mike Mussina (1-0) won a close one over Bert Blyleven (1-1). Sam West's double scored Marty McManus with the winning run in the last of the 8th. Both clubs are 3 and 2 so far this season.

The White Sox broke a 3 game losing streak by dumping the Philadelphia Athletics 8 to 5. Ed Cicotte (1-1) went the first 6 innings and got the victory, surrendering 4 runs and 6 hits. Wilbur Wood nailed down his second save, giving up only 1 run over the last 3 innings. Lefty Grove (0-2) held the Sox to one run until the 7th, when he got shelled for 5 more and took the loss. Frank Thomas and Luke Appling were the Chisox's hitting stars as each hit their second homer of the year. Ricky Henderson and Home Run Baker had two hits each for the Athletics.

Atlanta knocked Brooklyn from the ranks of the unbeaten 4 to 2. Lefty Warren Spahn (1-0) outdueled Dazzy Vance (1-1), halting the Dodgers on a 7 hit, 9 strikeout performance. Rabbit Maranville and Wally Berger led the Tomahawk attack with 3 hits each. Maranville singled in the winning runs in the 9th. Brooklyn's Gil Hodges belted his 3rd homer and Jackie Robinson got #2. The Bums fall to 4 and 1 on the year. Atlanta is 3 and 2.

The Cincinnati Redlegs continued to roll with a 10 to 2 thrashing of the Cubs. Cincy is now 4 and 1 on the season, while Chicago is a dismal 1 and 4. Paul Derringer (1-0) tossed a fine 4 hitter, stuck out 7 and walked only one to notch the victory. Barry Larkin, Frank Robinson and Pete Rose paced the Big Red Machine's 17 hit attack with 3 hits each. Robinson ripped his 3rd homer and Ted Kluszewski powered his first. Moe Brown (0-2) took the brunt of the Red run barrage in his second straight poor performance.

In the friendly confines of Forbes Field, the Pittsburgh Pirates pounded the St. Louis Cardinals for the second consecutive day, routing them 12 to 5. Leading the 17 hit parade was Honus Wagner. He went 5 for 5 with a home run, 2 triples, 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. Arky Vaughan chipped in 3 rbi's and Roberto Clemente continued his torrid hitting with 4 for 5. Deacon Phillippe (1-1) scattered 12 hits for the win, while Bob Gibson (1-1) was tagged with the loss after being embarrassed by 8 runs in less than 2 innings.

Christy Mathewson (1-1) and the New York Giants dealt the poor Phillies their 5th straight loss. The final score was 12 to 5. Philadelphia has yet to win this year. Matty effectively scattered 8 hits over the nine innings. Curt Schilling (0-2) caught the loss, being slammed for 6 runs in 6 innings. Bill Terry paced the New Yorkers with 3 hits and 3 rbi's. Willie Mays supported him with a home run.

You are right...I intend to post standings and stats every Saturday...I'm hoping to get someone to give me instructions on how to post game screens here on the forum. Tresclub sent me great detailed step-by-step instructions and it worked well until the web server part. Because of my computer ignorance, I couldn't figure that out and gave up on it. But it would sure come in handy now as I am typing-challenged, too. I will try to find out how to do it.

Standings will be posted today.

EC, do you have WinZip installed on your computer?

If so, I'm thinking you could put all of your league's .dat files into one single .zip file, and email it to me. Then I can take a screenshot and upload it to the web for you since you don't have a web server.

In the American League, The A's ace lefthander, Ed Plank (2-0) totally shutdown the Chicago White Sox on a 4 hit whitewash 8 to 0. Jose Canseco in his first start had 3 hits, a homer and 3 rbi's and Ricky Henderson came up with trio of basehits, too. Billy Pierce (1-1) struggled for Chicago and got the loss, being tapped for 6 runs in 5 innings.

At Yankee Stadium the Detroit Tigers tore into Ron Guidry (1-1) for 8 runs in 2 innings and won going away 11 to 1. Jim Bunning (1-1) tossed a 7 hitter and was well supported by 14 hits. 6 Tigers has 2 hits, led by Ty Cobb's 3 rbi's. This broke the Yanks' 3 game winning streak. They are now 4 and 3, while Detroit improved to 2 and 4.

In Cleveland, Smokey Joe Wood and Dick Radatz (1-0) combined to beat the Indians 3 to 2. Addie Joss (1-1) had shut them out for 7 innings, but the Bosox bats came alive with 2 in the 8th and 1 in the 9th. Ted Williams got the game winning single. Radatz got the win with 2 scoreless innings in relief.

At Camden Yards, Baltimore scored 3 in the 8th in a 5-4 comeback victory over the Washington Nationals. Baby Doll Jacobson's two run double set the stage for George Sisler's single to bring him home for the win. Mike Cuellar (2-0) went 8 innings and got credit for the win. Hoyt Wilhelm finish it off and got the save with a runless 9th. Jacobson rapped 3 hits and drove in 3. Goose Goslin had 3 for the Nats. Frank Viola (0-2) gave up 5 runs in 7 innings for the loss.

Over in the National, the red hot Reds took their 4th in a row, edging the Cubs 3 to 1 at Wrigley Field. Cuban righthander, Dolph Luque (1-1) was the winner with one inning help from Jim Maloney, who got the save. Loser Ed Reulbach (1-1) was mowing 'em down on only 2 hits for 8 shutout innings, but weakened in the 9th. Three hits and a two-base error by outfielder Hack Wilson did him in. The Redlegs are now 5 and 1 and and tied with Brooklyn for first place.

Don Drysdale (1-1) not only went the distance, but slapped a ninth inning single to win his own game in the Brooklyn 3-2 triumph over the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers were held to one hit over the first 6 innings by starter John Smoltz, but teed off on reliever Don McMahon (1-1) with 3 hits in the ninth. Drysdale had a 6 hitter, struck out 5 and walked 3 in a good outing.

Pittsburgh continued to rampage against the Redbirds and swept the 3 games series, totalling 31 runs and 41 hits. In the series final, the Cards kept it close for awhile, trailing only 3 to 1 after 7, but very poor relief work by Al Hrabosky, the Mad Hungarian, and John Worrell cost them. The final score was a decisive 9 to 2. Jesse Tannehill (2-0) was the winning pitcher. Dizzy Dean (0-2) copped the loss. Stargell, Kiner, Wagoner and Paul Waner topped the Buccos 12 hit outburst with 2 hits each. On the year the Pirates are 4 and 2 and St. Louis is only 2 and 4.

The New York Giants took their third straight game from the Phillies 4 to 3 and moved their record to 4 and 2. In a battle of lefties, Carl Hubbell (2-0) outpitched Steve Carlton (1-1). Jeff Kent's 2 run triple in the 8th and Bill Terry's two out ninth inning double proved to be decisive for New York. Mike Schmidt stood out for the Phils with a double, homer and 3 rbi's, who are now a dismal 1 and 6.

No, little smart aleck, I just might let you design me a website and let you do all the menial labor.

or worse yet, ask you to give me step-by-step instructions on how to post a game screen.

or maybe ask you to do both.

Oops...didn't see your first post.

Thanks, dbacks. Yes I do have Winzip.

Well, if you want, you could email me the .dat files, and I will create a new league and post a screenshot of the standings. Because you can't do it without a web server.

Just select all of the .dat files in your OOTP6/LEAGUENAME.lg folder (press and hold the Ctrl button on the keyboard, and select each one individually), then right-click on one of the files, go down to where it says WinZip, and select 'Add to LEAGUENAME.lg.zip'

The 5-3 Yankees took over first place by a half game in the American League race as Philadelphia, Baltimore and Cleveland all lost.

New York whipped Washington 5 to 1 behind the righthand slants of Spud Chandler (2-0). Joe Gordon drove in 2 runs and Earl Combs and Joe DiMaggio each had two hits. Jim Perry (0-1) pitched well for the Nationals only being scored against twice in 6 innings. He left with the score 2 to 1. Rick Aguilera and Bill Dailey finished up.

In a sterling matchup Boston's Pedro Martinez (1-1) shutout the Philadelphia Athletics and Rube Waddell (1-1) by the score of 2 to 0. In the two hitter, Pedro blazed his fastball past 9 A's and walked 4. Waddell was just about his equal, allowing only 6 hits in 8 innings with 5 strikeouts and one walk. Bobby Shantz pitched a scoreless ninth. Rick Farrell and Dom DiMaggio drove in the game's only runs in the fourth and seventh innings.

In an 11 inning thriller, the Chisox slipped by Cleveland 7 to 6. Both teams got excellent relief work by Gary Peters and Doug Jones. Chicago's Peters (1-1) chalked up the victory yielding only 1 hit and no runs over 3+ innings. Jones (0-1) gave up only 1 run in 4 innings, but got the loss. Starters Bob Feller and Ted Lyons were not very effective, each giving up 6 runs in 7 innings. Luke Appling led the Sox's 10 hit barrage with 2 doubles and 3 rbi's. Frank Thomas slugged his 3rd home run. The Indians ripped 15 hits and got 8 bases on balls, but failed repeatedly to come through with men in scoring position. Tris Speaker had 3 hits and 2 rbi's and Earl Averill added a pair of hits and 2 runs batted in.

In Baltimore, the Detroit Tigers hammered the homestanding Orioles 11 to 1, pounding out 16 hits and upping their team batting average to a very lofty .337. They had beaten the Yankees by the same score yesterday. Schoolboy Rowe (2-0) stopped the Birds on just 6 singles. Urban Shocker (0-2) surrendered 8 runs in 2 innings and was the loser. The Tigers' Bill Freehan homered, had 2 hits and 3 rbi's. The "Georgia Peach", Ty Cobb supplied 2 doubles.

Cincinnati and Brooklyn both won in the National League. The 6-1 Reds maintained their half game lead over the 6-2 second place Dodgers.

The Reds cooled off the smoldering Pittsburgh Pirates in the series opener 6 to 2, ending their 3 game win skein. Frank Robinson's Major League leading 4th roundtripper in the 8th off Kent Tekulve cinched the game for the boys in the Red Stockings. Pete Donahue (2-0) pitched his second consecutive complete game victory on a fine 6 hitter. Faulty Pittsburgh fielding gave little support to starter Sam Leever (0-2), who only gave up 4 hits and 3 runs in 7 innings, none earned.

Brooklyn had a very easy time at home as they defeated the pathetic Phils 11 to 1. Don Sutton (2-0) set a new Major League strikeout record with a total of 10. He was touched for 7 hits and walked only 2 in a strong outing. Brooklyn blasted Philadelphia for 15 hits with Ron Cey leading the way with 3, Duke Snider drove in 3 runs and Pedro Guerrero, Zach Wheat, Jackie Robinson, Mike Piazza and Pee Wee Reese each chipped in 2 hits in the torrid attack. Robin Roberts (0-1) took most of the assault.

At the Polo Grounds, Greg Maddux (2-0) of Atlanta again sparkled as he and Joe McGinnity (0-2) and the New York Giants faced each other for the second time in a week and the Braves won again 5 to 2. Javy Lopez doubled and homered to drive in 2 runs. Wally Berger and Chipper Jones tossed in 3 and 2 hits respectively. The Giants Barry Bonds had 3 singles and Bill Terry hit his 3rd homer. The Braves trail the Reds by 2 games.

The St. Louis Cardinals broke out in a vengence against the Chicago Cubs. Fresh off 3 massacres at the hands of the Pirates, the Red Birds did some massacring of their own and smashed 17 hits in a 9-4 romp. Mort Cooper (2-0) went 6 for the win and Todd Worrell pitched 3 scoreless innings to save it. Among the Cardinal heroes were Rogers Hornsby with 4 hits, a home run and 4 rbi's, and Chick Hafey and Stan Musial with 3 hits each. Hack Wilson stood out for the Cubs with 4 hits, 2 doubles and an rbi. Charlie Root (0-2) lasted only 6 innings for the loss. He was leading 4 to 2 until he was battered for 3 more runs in the 6 run seventh.

Sounds complicated to my old feeble computer illiterate mind, but I will give it try.
