Guys, I may have found a work around. Try this in a test league to be safe.

Leave all options enabled (menu animation, interface sound & INCLUDING game sound & internal browser).

After you are done playing out your game do not click on the screen but immediately click the minimize button (which looks like this - ) in the top right hand of the screen. Let OOTP6 do its thing. Allow for the internal browser to pop-up (while you are on the desktop). Then allow for the hard drive to stop generating the reports (which it does by itself via the game *OOTP6*). It will save the reports and then go to the schedule screen all by it-self. Click on OOTP to maximize the screen and you should be fine. Try this out and then let me know if this worked. Good luck.

Well after testing this (the work around posted above), it has crashed 3 out of 10 times. Still not good enough to use because the risk is there where it may corrupt your league.

DirectX9.0b does work better than DirectX 9.0c. I experiences less crashes but I still experienced crashes. This is the only game I have crashing issue with.

I tried firefox before and it slowed down my internet browsing to almost dial-up speeds. I have a cable connection and paying for what I pay a month to get dial-up like speeds is a no-no.

Anyways, it is not a browser issue. It is a sound issue. And I think it is a directX sound issue.

Besides, you are still having the problem because if you weren't you wouldn't have to disable or change browsers if you didn't. You found a work around to allow for the crashing not to happen, which is good but this is not going to work for most people.

Thanks for the help though.

Yup, I had the same issue. I really do think it is a directX issue still.

As of right now I am running DirecXt9.0c without sound for in game play.

I have decided that it is not a directx9.0c issue. Its not a SP2 issue either so I will install that next.

Guys, I haven't had this problem but have been following these sound issue threads as I haven't yet installed sp2 and want to wait until I'm sure it won't mess up my game.

As I understand the probelm the sound works for the whole game and then crashes when the game ends and tries to bring up the boxscore. Has anyone tried playing the game with sound and then turning it off when there are two outs in the ninth inning? I believe there's an icon in the top right corner of the game screen that let's you turn off the sound. I know this would be a pain but if it worked you'd at least get 8+ innings of sound which to me would be better than no sound at all.

Yes, I have tried this and when I click on the sound icon (located in the top right hand corner) the game crashes like it would as you explained in your thread.

Sweed, I truley do not think this is a SP2 issue. I did a complete reformat of the HD, did a clean install of windows and I updated to SP1 & DirectX9.0b only but I still crashed. When installing with SP2 it just crashed more often (almost every game). With SP1 it crashed 3-5 out of 10 games I played. I did 3 separate tests. One test was 3 out of 10 and the other two tests resulted in 5 out of 10 games played that crashed (this is with SP1 and DirectX9.0b)

Yeah, I know.....I have put alot of time into this (reformatting, ect), maybe to much. But I want to play with the sounds on. I want that full immersion. Thats what I paid for (not saying this as an angry buyer).

See post #28.

Firefox slows my web browsing way down down and I have a high-end newly built PC.

The crashes aren't a browser issue IMO.

you are 100% correct...ootp 6.11 is crashing i am so mad..

it crashes every other game in play by play...

i setup my league out, play the first game out and no crash...
then my 2nd game at end of the game it crash to desktop . so loaded the game up and it show the 2nd game was completed , but the pitchers in the game didnt get the wins and it doesn show the win in the standing...

my season that i set up is ruin...this unpredictable crashes is so frustrated.. i cant trust doing play by play anymore and that sucks...i dont want to sim only..

i have window xp, sp2, directx 9.0c, AMD xp 1800+. geforce 2 32mb, 512mb ram..

it really sucks people have to disable game sound and interface sound to enjoy the game....the sound is fun to play with on, to hear the bat, the crowd, etc..and we not able to use it..is a short coming..

this is so frustrating. Markus really need to do something now..peopel have reported this for a long time on prior version, this version and nothing is getting look at to get this fix....Markus please respond and take a serious look at this problem..most off us have updated system and these random crashes has to stop, it ruins our season..

thanks

Like I said in another thread, I have been with OOTP since v3 and really have never had any problems. Suddenly, I can't even play the game, note play, not just see the results, without everything getting screwed up. I have got to say it is really dampening my desire to play.

I thought one possible solution would be to play it until the last out of the game and then just sim the final. Sure it would suck if the game came down to the last out, but that doesn't happen all that often. Worked like a charm last night. Tried it again today, and it crashes. Very disappointing!

Although I really enjoy the sound effects and imagine it would be much less pleasant to play without them, I guess it could be a short term fix.

I know there are a lot of comflicting opinions out there, so could someone confirm for me that turning off the sound prevents the crash? Maybe another way of asking, does anyone still have the problem after turning off the sound?

Thanks
