I can't speak for other people, but my thoughts are here back in the Time Warp HOF Ballot 1941.
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that post. I never had a problem with either Nagel or Castellon (the other guy in the linked post) and am pretty sure I voted for both of them. My problem is, I'm not willing to go through all the almanacs to find the info needed to do that analysis. If you just look at them from what Matt posts about them, they do look almost identical except as I outlined in my previous post. That's not a knock on Matt, btw, he does more than enough already. Anyway, thanks for reminding me.

I like what Matt gives as a good starting point. It lets you focus in on guys you need to look at. The best thing he does is link to the profile page for each player, because that tends to be the next thing I click on after the quick refresher the "ballot" gives. When I look at the player profile, I pretty much head towards the Leader Board section first. I want to see how much the player peppered it, and how high he tended to pepper it. Those were some of the things that captured my attention first on "sleeper candidates" or "forgotten greats" like Jed Burke and Patrick Seifried. Take Seifried:

Patrick Seifried 1907-1921

AVG: X-1-X-2-2-3-2-FL-FL-4-3-4-3-X-4
OBP: X-2-8-1-1-1-2-FL-FL-2-2-3-2-X-2
SLG: 6-X-X-1-2-4-2-FL-FL-4-3-4-10-10-2
OPS: 6-5-X-1-1-2-2-FL-FL-3-3-2-4-X-2

X = Not In Top 10
FL = Federal Leage / No Data

A Batting Title, three runner-ups, and ten times in the Top 4.

Three OBP Titles, six times runner-up, ten ties in the Top 3, one other Top 10.

A SLG Title, three times runner-up, eight times in the Top 4, three other Top 10.

Two OPS Titles, four runner-ups, ten Top 5, and one other Top 10.

That struck me as one hitting MoFo, and gets me to look some more. Other guys, like Will Miller, you look and don't really need to look much more - he's a pretty obvious "yes".

I like taking a look at stuff like that. I'm kinda worried that being an owner is going to eat up all my TWB time, and not leave me time to do free lance "history" and research... which I enjoy more than the ownership possibilities. :/

Final Results!

I was amazed at how quickly votes came in on this one. Thanks everyone.

Baum was an overwhelming selection, while Krosser fell just a hair short in his final year on the ballot.

Code:
Ben Baum 94.12%
Mark Krosser 70.59%
Patrick Seifried	64.71%
Ray Brown 64.71%
Bull Zegri 64.71%
Dark Horse Allen	58.82%
Will Haggan 52.94%
Dave McBean 47.06%
Dale Reneau 41.18%
Willard Schwarz 35.29%
Frenchie Fournier	35.29%
Slap Hertzog 23.53%
Howard Parrish 23.53%
Ned Fargo 17.65%
Evil Archer 17.65%
Nick Graves 11.76%
Ralph Tumbridge 5.88%
Sadly, several old timers will be removed from the ballot and go to the VC for futher HOF discussion. Also, players not receiving 5% of the votes have been removed. Following is a list of all players removed from the ballot with the year they become eligible for the VC in parenthesis:

Archer (1946)
Krosser (1946)
McBean (1946)
Haggan (1946)
Allen (1946)

Holloway (1959)
Glass (1960)
Stines (1960)
Andrew (1961)
Palmer (1958)

Players who enter their final year of eligibility on the regular ballot next year:

Fournier
Seifried
