Ok. So long as we all understand that throwing at a batter should have consequences. Have I convinced you yet?

I'd support the idea of a bean ball option IF it meant the frequency of HBP would otherwise decrease. I'm seeing as many as 4 a game once in a while. I'd expect the average is around 1.25/game. That seems pretty high to me.

....or, if you just want to retaliate and maybe injure some opposing hitters, I don't think it would be "cheating" to adjust your next starting pitcher's HBP rating upwards of 300 for the next day (he'd normally be ejected, anyways, so the additional runners that would cause him to get tossed would be a close approximation
)

most of the time a bean ball isn't thrown to injure a hitter often not even to actually hit him, just to send the message "back off the plate! It's *mine*" people way over react to it today no one should be ejected I don't think unless the intention was clearly to injure. nothing wrong with a little intimidation.
As far as OOTP consequences, how about a "brushback" option. either it hits the batter or if it doesn't it would slightly decrease the chances of him getting a hit that at-bat. The pitcher's control could help determine which of A or B would happen. |

Does a manager ever call these things, though? Or is it pretty much the pitcher acting on his own?

LOL - yeah, I hear ya. I just tried to find a bit of a work-around within the current framework of the game. Hmm. Maybe we could save the game, edit the pitcher and then return - has anybody ever tried that? |

There's no way to save the game like that.
