I'm still having a problem downloading 5.4.0 and now 6.0.0. The download goes alright for awhile and then the download box will say complete, however the download is actually incomplete. Anyone else have a problem downloading and were able to fix it? I've downloaded other things and they have all downloaded fine. For some reason the computer doesn't like downloading Catobase.

Are you on a dial-up or broadband connection? Are you using a download manager/accelerator?

I am on dial-up and not using any download manager/accelerator. I've been trying to download the 5.4.0 update from time to time since it came out and some reason I can't get a full uncorrupted download. Like I said I've downloaded other things since so my computer isn't having trouble downloading things. Just this one it seems.

Of course, the browser Firefox has one built into it. In short, free yourself from Internet Explorer. It's kinda crappy. Last edited by Gastric ReFlux; 05-04-2004 at 12:32 PM. |

I never used this before, i'm excited to give it a try.
i'm in the middle of a season right now. if i start using it now, how will that affect things? does that matter? will it collect data from the part of the season that has already occurred? i know nothing about this... |

I'm far from an expert on Catobase, but as a longtime user here are a couple of answers:
You should run Catobase once per season, when you finish that season. Those of us who've grown accustomed to using it just back up all the files at the end of each season as a matter of course, since you need to export at that point in order to get all the stuff into the webpages. I use it solely for my solo league, and just have the "web pages" on my hard drive. And I think Cato has embedded CommishJoe's exporter in the program now, so there's no longer any need to use the exporter separately (I haven't used 6.0 yet, so someone correct me if I'm wrong).

i downloaded 5.4.0 and created a Catobase folder in my OOTPDevelopments folder in Program Files...or so I thought.
Now I'm downloading the update. It says "unzip to where?" Per Cato's instructions, I try to select my new Catobase folder. But it doesn't seem to be there in OOTPDevelopments. Confused...any ideas? |

bbergin76,
Not sure what to suggest, other than trying a download manager as Gastric ReFlux suggested. jbmagic, Yes, it creates HTML pages on your hard drive, you can view them from there. The Exporter programs are in the CatoBase folder and automatically called by my program. You don't need to worry about them at all. The readme file contains a step-by-step guide. nestajones, You have to install the 5.4.0 version first. Unzip it to a temp folder and run setup.exe. This will install the necessary files. The default install location is c:\program files\catobase. To update it to 6.0.0, unzip that file to the install location. The update contains a new catobase.exe, database, revision.txt, and the needed exporter programs for OOTP6. Just let it overwrite the files in that folder. |

I'll try starting over with 5.4.0 again, and just leave it alone before doing the update... |
