I'll check the results of reducing "stuff" as well. It might be better to change the League Totals for this stat - have to try it both ways.
I'm sure Jermanfu will check in here after the weekend to offer his opinions as well ![]() Henry |

Maybe I'm missing the boat here, but can't you just go to league setup and change the era to "deadball"?

it is set to deadball era for 1901
but what we doing is creating fictional players to play in that era...so you have to use the player modifier that comes with ootp 6 and adjusted it so when it makes the league it creates the right kind of players to play in deadball era... hey guys i found a web site that helps see how many games they play in that era..Looks like they play 140 games in the era 1901...so maybe it good to test with a 140 gme schedule..just an idea http://muench.oneworldhost.com/bb_chrono.htm Last edited by jbmagic; 04-24-2004 at 01:51 AM. |

I'm having real trouble getting player modifiers to create good dead ball numbers. Here's what I tried:
Contact: +3 Gap Power: -8 Power: -81 Eye: -24 Avoiding K: -51 I arrived at these numbers by comparing 2004 stats, which seems to be what the engine creates if unmodified, and 1901 stats. Here's what I learned: The Avoiding K's modifier does not seem to work at all. I ran a couple of tests, even set to 200%, and the ratings did not seem appreciably different. You can get around this by decreasing a pitcher's stuff rating, but then the league batting average seems to shoot up, whether because there are now more balls in play or what I don't know. One can get good steal and endurance numbers by relying on the era modifiers (both set to Very Good), but I CANNOT get triples numbers at all near 1901 numbers. I CAN get the right number of extra base hits, but even increasing speed by 60% does not increase the number of triples enough, and it shoots up the number of stolen bases. I'm starting to think that the creation modifiers will have to work in combination with the league totals modifiers. That is, that we'll have to create era-appropriate-looking players and then use the league totals modifiers to insure that they produce era-appropriate stats. I had hoped the creation modifiers would do away with all those calculations and trial and error sims, but there it is. |
