Hank Izquierdo has a website devoted to his career at the following link.
http://www.communicationsclub.org/hank/websitedad.html Hank Izquierdo was born on March 20,1931 in Mantanza,Cuba. Mostly raised by his mother after the death of his father. He is the youngest of 13 children. His love for baseball began as a child while attending school. Eventually he would skip classes in order to play more baseball. His brother Ruben was a large influence in Hank`s interest in the all American passtime. Hank played his first organized game in 1948 in Cuba. In 1951 he signed for Galveston in the Gulf Coast League for $200.00. In 1954 he became a member of the Cuban "Almendares" team. During the next eleven years Hank traveled extensively throughout Cuba, South America, and the United States in the minor leagues. Finally, on August 9,1967 he made his debut into the major league when he joined the Minnesota Twins. During this season came one of Hank`s low points. On December 22, 1968 Hank suffered near a fatal gunshot wound during a robbery involving a taxi he was in during the off season. Hank went on to make a full recovery and continued to play ball. In 1968 Hank joined the AAA Oklahoma City team part of the Houston Astros Organization. Yet another low point was the incident that occured between Hank and Ted Simmons during the 1969 season. Unfortunately, Hank was suspended for the remainder of the season and fined. It has been said that this was the one incident that ended his professional baseball career in the United States. During the 1970's Hank played in the Mexican Leagues. He not only played but managed as well. In 1970 he took Aquilas De Veracruz to the championships and won. In the late 70's he also played in South America. In 1977 he returned to the Minnesota Twins as a scout for 10 years. He also scouted for the Chicago Cubs where he remained until his retirement in 1988. Hank was a part of both minor and major league baseball for 40 years. During this time he played, managed, and scouted. Hank and his wife Rosa have been married for 46 years. They have four children and six grandchildren. They reside in Florida.

Who knows what you will uncover during an online search? Here's a pic of Ralph Brickner from the 1943 Ohio State Championship team from Cincinnati's Elder High School.
