OK...time to remove the mask. I posted under the pseudonym Crucified by the FOBL to make some points.

First was the need for respect and decorum. Look at the flames in this post. I don't believe for one second those flames would not have happened if I used my real board nick to post. In fact, they'll probably start as soon as I post this.

Second, look at the attacks. Immediately I had to be the guy who ripped off the FOBL. Didn't the FOBL owners think that people who had nothing to do with the shortsighted guys who ripped them off would be offended by the tone and language they used? Did it matter if others, either owners in the league who had nothing to do with the site design or people browsing this board, were hit by the flying mud?

Seriously.

If you can come with a legitimate answer to that question, then maybe we'll consider different action the next time.

(Who am I kidding...we won't, but you'll earn my respect. )
The FOBL is probably one of the top 20 internet OOTP leagues. The dedication of the owners and loyalty to the league is outstanding. As a result, the FOBL can be viewed by people as a standard. (Maybe not in content of message board and web site news stories but in activity and concern for the league.)

With that level of respect comes a level of responsibility (regardless if the FOBL wants it or not.) Taking the issue to the commissioner and trying to settle it quietly (which we both know won't happen very often) gives the impression that the league isn't a bunch of junior high school kids who lash out when someone wants to play with their favorite ball.

That's not a fair representation of the guys in the FOBL. One look at the constitution tells you this isn't a bunch of teens in the basement with a case of Coors Light running a league in between surfing porn. In fact, you can almost tell by the extreme to which they take their news articles these guys are very creative (like the subtitle of the home page's big story "Rooks Warned: "Aspirin Will Not Bring a Dead Hooker Back to Life".)

If you send that first e-mail (and you can even post it on the site with a date and timestamp) it'll do a few things. First, it'll show you gave fair warning before unleashing the Hounds of Hell. Second, it'll make the commissioner of the offending league look like a gigantic moron without having to use profanity or degredation. Third, it'll be easy for most members of the OOTP community to jump in line with you to get these guys in line. Isn't it better to have hundreds of guys telling a league to quit ripping off the FOBL instead of just the few guys in the league?

I respect the FOBL for the league they've created although I'm disgusted by the content of the news stories and most owner posts on this site. I also think ON THEIR SITE they have the right to post and say whatever they want. It's when they launch profane attacks in a place like this site I have an issue.

Well gee - I thought that was widely known already...like "Donuts are good" or "Beyonce has a big booty".

Still, it bears repeating...CJ is highly regarded by FOBL...

Hey! Something we agree on. I have asked them to stop putting stories about people getting high and f</i>ucking their cars in those front page news stories...

Wow. Some quick witted banter right there.

I am kind of amazed these threads aren't closed down yet. I think we all have had enough of the comedy.
