I think we talk about cheating way too much on this board.

Seriously, whats the point? It was 5 years ago and as stated already, people change alot in 5 years, especially if they were 16-20 y/o to start that period.

No reason to stir up trouble where none exists.

I, too, think the original post should have never been made.
He wasn't talking about me, I never said the person should be exposed. I simply said I wouldnt join a league run by a known cheater... no matter how long ago it was...

I think that those who once cheated can change.

People can definitely change. When I was young, I used to shoplift...little stuff, and not really stuff I needed. I did it just purely for the thrill of getting away with it. And, I was a disgruntled 15 year old. As I grew and matured, the idea of doing something like that grew less and less attractive until it disappeared altogether. I agree with whomever asked the original poster who made them the OOTP Police. If you suspect there is a problem in a league, then don't get involved in that league. And if someone asks you about the league, then say "I'm not in it because I think the commish may be cheating." Unless you have conclusive proof that someone is cheating, though, posting their name is only a smear campaign.

Last time I checked, it was still innocent until proven guilty in the U.S.

When did Pete Rose cheat...??? Pete Rose is banned because he bet on Baseball, but at no time could they prove he rigged any games he was involved in... That is a horrible example

Looking at the commishes of all of my leagues, I can't see any of them being cheaters in the past or present. With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them were the person being talked about.

If it is one of them, I would like to know so that I can remove myself from the league.

The point is that we are all in this for the fun of competing against other owners. None of us want to spend 5,10,15+ seasons in a league, struggling to build that dynasty franchise only to find out that the playing field was never level... Yeah maybe that Commish that cheated when he was 18 has reformed now that he is 23.... but maybe not... you want to waste your time if he hasnt???? Not me.

Of course none of us want to do this, and unless the commish cheats so blatantly that only a moron could miss it, it probably wouldn't be picked up for a few seasons anyway. Just because a team does well in one or two seasons doesn't mean cheating. It may be an abberation. I just don't think anyone should be accused in a public forum without some pretty strong evidence.

Edit: To clarify, IMO "He cheated five years ago" is not pretty strong evidence of cheating in a current league.

I have to admit that I'm very curious as to who it is. (Though as someone who was in quite a number of FPS leagues, I have a strong suspicion about who the person we are talking about is.) The type of cheating that we are talking about is not simple cheating, but cheating done well enough to last six seasons and span the control of multiple teams. While change is possible, it seems we aren't talking about someone who just re-ran sims, but someone who engaged some very large, well thought out cheating. And if I happened to be in a league run by this commissioner, I would want to know.

I would really like to know who it is. Those who know or evening think they know, please PM me with the information. I will keep it to myself.

I don't want to waste my time with this person, so someone please fill me in.

I doubt I'd want to know. I don't think I would benefit from it. I’m pretty sure the warning signs would already be there if you are talking about someone we are familiar with.

I hope none of the Commissioners of my leagues are cheating since none of them have ever won a league title. If they are cheating, they aren't very good at it

The most interesting part to all of this is that the person who started this thread has yet to respond. I am thinking the whole thing is a bunch of bull and the cheater is actually the person who started the thread! He probably wanted to see how people would respond to him if they found out what he had been doing.

Just a thought!

Same here. None of my Commissioners have ever won a championship either. If somebody is going to take the time to cheat, I would think that they would make sure it was done right hehe.

I didn't feel the need to respond on this thread because I had put the topic out for discussion and looked over the comments posted. I was leaning toward not saying anything and I intend to follow the advice of those who said not to reveal the name.

By the way, the person who made the post above me accusing me of cheating posted that thread after I told him privately I wouldn't reveal the name of the person in question. Nice to know that if you don't do what someone wants you to do they'll try and smear you in public!

Cowboy has posted off the wall opinions before. This one is nothing new I think you handled this situation well.

My post was made PRIOR to you responding to my private message. I have the right to voice my opinion and given your lack of response that was what I thought. Doesn't make me right but it was a legit opinion.

For the record I no longer feel that way after having received your reply.
