Just started playing around with paintshop pro 7.0 and the more I played the more I liked what I was getting...... with topeka I created a 9 with a baseball added the topeka text with a gradient fill and then I went with a spotlight effect, added the bulge effect and a shadow - sounds more difficult than it really it.

The Redbirds was buttonized and the red changed to a red/black gradient and added the prism effect, finished it off with a slight glitter effect....

Wichita was a chrome effect, slight prism....

There were a few other steps taken for these but I really can't remember all of them......

Dbacks, do you think they are too much with the effects? I did these to mainly satisfy me first and then I put them out to share.....just started using the effects tonight.....

All these great logos have prompted me to try my hand at it. I just completed one and realized that I have no idea how to insert an image.

How are you guys showing images on this board?

I don't know how to do logos, but really enjoy looking at them.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

I like logos like dbacks created...he is one of the best designers IMHO for the following reasons: traditional...uncluttered, easy to read, no fancy techniques (shading, blending of colors)...well-coordinated colors...lettering large enough to be seen...and makes sure that the blacks are the right setting...otherwise it shows up with white spots and doesn't look good on the game screens.

You'll have to get the experts like dbacks to tell you how to keep from having transparency problems.

And most important of all...it's amazing what you did in your first few days of creating logos.

That Redbirds logo is not to my taste, but it is very creative and very well done...but you might have transparency issues. See how it looks in the game.

The Topeka 9 is excellent...would like to see it with the "9" not chopped and no black shadowing...and remove the yellow near "Topeka"...it seems to interfere with the clearness of the lettering...that's just my suggestions...others will love it the way it is.

I'm looking forward to looking at your logos in the future here on the forum..

Glad to hear it...also looking forward to your creations.

Sorry, I'm computer-challenged, can't help with inserting an image.

Dbacks, any suggestions on how to fix a transparency problem? Boozie created a great Baltimore Stallions logo for my league but it comes in splotchy. Im not sure how to fix it.

Logos need to be cleaned up to contain no pure black pixels. modify them just a bit and there are no transparency issue.

Eugene,

Before I posted any of the logos here I displayed them in the game to make sure they did not have any issues. I made sure that there were no pure black pixels, converting them to a shade or two under. I am not a design artist by any means, but have been a programmer for over 20 years and I was aware of the issues with the transparency by earlier messages.

The Topeka logo was mine and the other two I just played around with for a few minutes. These logos were not designed for the traditional type leagues but I wanted to see if I can get a metallic or futuristic look to them. I personnally don't use logos in the game but became fascinated with the design programs and started playing around with it.

Again these logos are not intended to be pleasing to everyone because baseball is a very traditional sport and logos are a part of the tradition. Some teams have not changed there logo in almost 100 years and that is the charm of the game - but OOTP to me is a fantasy world and I thought that I would have the logos reflect a more modern or futuristic look. I wanted them not to be a copy of what would appear on the uniform but a BOLD new look....

I did post a few more logos in other postings, some more traditional, some comical (gotta see my two PA p's logos - but don't take them seriously - I was trying to be funny). I hope to post more in the future because I enjoy doing it.

Yeah, I do. Really wish I saw this earlier, as I would have had time to fix it. If you can hold on until late Sunday evening, I can fix that and any other logos you're having problems with.

Unfortunately guys, I won't be here until late Sunday evening. I leave for a baseball tournament in Mesquite, Nevada, and I'm actually a few minutes late now. So I apologize that I won't be here to help out, but logos will be top priority when I get back.

1. hit the post reply and type your message.

2. click on the browse button under the text box and attach your logo. The logo must be jpg or gif to be seen or if it is a bmp it will only have a link to the design.

SandMan:

Please accept my sincere apology...it just looked to "my untrained eye" that the logo would not show up well in the game. Sorry, I was mistaken.

You asked dbacks: "if they are too much with the effects?".

So I gave you my opinion, too.

My comments were not meant to be critical of your modern designs. I mistakenly thought you had very little experience with logo designing ("only 3 days") and only offered the suggestions to help you in developing your skills.

Your work is excellent and I hope one day you will design some logos for me...might even experiment in a futuristic, modern one.

Eugene,

I was not upset with any of your comments and took them as constructive criticism. I just wanted to let you know that I knew when I posted them that they were too radical for tradition leagues but just wanted to post them to see if any one, like yourself, would give some feed back.....

I do only have 3 days using the design program. I am a "chip head" and not a design artist and as most people know programmers are not good graphics designers.... I am just trying to be efficient at both...

Thanks for the feedback...
