Does anyone have a picture of SS Charlie Hollocher. I haven't seen a set yet that did (but I haven't seen all).

Great... Thanks both of you. Now if I can figure out how they colorized them ;-)

Not a problem. I used Paintshop Pro 8. You can also use Photoshop. What you want to do is cut everything into layers by using the magic wand or the Freehand Selection Tool. Different things can be layered togather, like both of Cobb's socks, his hat and the detroit logo on his jersey because they are all the same color. Same with the players entire uniform, since they are the same color. The idea is to have the least amount of layers as possible, to limit the time.

Once you have everything seperated by layers, you want to colorize them by adjusting the hue and saturation of each layer. you can also brighten or darken them to your liking. If you look at the players shoes, I gave them both the same color, but I darkened Cobb's.

The thing you have to figure out yourself is what color everything will be. You can often tell by the shade of grey. I went back and actually found out what color their uniforms were. Once you know what one color is, you can compare that shade of grey with others.

I'm actually very new to Paintshop pro, and I'm sure I can do more to clean up the image, I just have not yet learned. There are tutorials all over the internet, and I would recommend looking at some of those.

I was on the right track.... I have PSP v7 and tried using the Magic Wand set at RGB - but the shades of gray are too close to find a distinction. Does v8 do better - or did you just do a lot of trial and error ?

yeah, i'm not a huge fan of the Magic wand because all too often, it covers something out of my desired layer. I can adjust the tolerance, but I'd much rather use the Freehand Selection Tool.

Its easy to blow up the picture to about 800% and then cut it out, so the layer is accurate. It's kind of like going back to Kindergarden and coloring between the lines, only this time we are making the lines.

Also, another hint (you probably know it), if you hold down shift while you are defining the layers, you can add to a previous selection. If you want to subtract, hold down CTRL while clicking.

I also have Charlie in Boys of Summer, MLBC, and GDBA (before he retired), and the Hybrid league before it folded ;-)

I guess we'll see if he bounces back in the 1920 QBA the way he bounced back in the 1920 BOS. The big dropoff in 1919 in both leagues is eerily similar...

What is the law with pictures on a website? Isnt it illegal to make money off of a site using pictures from another site? Is there anyway to get around it, for example, giving credit to the owner?

I believe it would most certainly be considered illegal unless you had permission from the photographer or whoever owned the rights to the images. That is one of the reasons that I never considered charging or requesting a donation for any of my facepacks. (well, that and the fact I doubt anyone would be willing to pay for them :-)

Look for Charlie Hollocher in batch 621-640, which should be posted by the end of the week.
