Series tied at 2-2

from Sportsman's Park in the St. Louis, Missouri.

Starting for the Cardinals-
Fred Martin (17-10, 3.44)

Starting for the Yankees-
Mort Cooper (2 IP, 8 H, 9 ER)

First inning -

Cardinals score first....again, making it five out of five series games they have taken to the scoreboard first. This time, Enos Slaughter did the damage with an RBI single.

1-0 Cardinals.

Second inning -

Cardinals extend their lead getting back to back solo shots from Erv Dusak and Clyde Kluttz. Yankees do not score.

Cardinals lead 3-0

Third inning -

Neither team scores. Cardinals still up 3-0.

Fourth inning -

Neither team scores. Cardinals still up 3-0.

Fifth inning -

Yankees get a solo shot from Charlie Keller to cut the deficit to two runs.

3-1 Cardinals.

Sixth inning -

Cardinals get the run back on an RBI single from light-hitting SS Marty Marion.

Cardinals lead 4-1

Seventh inning -

Neither team scores. Cardinals lead 4-1.

Eighth inning -

Yankees tie it up getting an RBI single from Joe DiMaggio followed by a two-run home run from AL leader Hank Sauer.

Tie ballgame 4-4

Ninth inning -

Yankees take the lead as Keller hits his second home run of the game off of Martin. Joe Page comes in to shut the Cardinals down and the Yankees win to move to within a game of their first PWBL championship.

Yankees 5 - Cardinals 4

Winning pitcher - Mort Cooper (8 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K)
Losing pitcher - Howie Pollet (9 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 1 K)

What a trooper OF Keller is, playing with a Herniated disc in his back, he's been playing at only 70% for some time now. Hat's off to Charlie for picking up the slack. Now let's see if this Highly Touted P Hal Newhouser can shut the door, or has he received some undue praise...

First inning -

Cardinals go hitless against Newhouser and the Yankees manage just one.

Second inning -

The early pitching duel continues as both clubs fail to score.

Third inning -

Newhouser continues to no-hit the Cards. Yankees also fail to score.

Fourth inning -

Cardinals get their first hit but fail to score. The Yankees, on the other hand, score first for the first time in the series on a two-run homer from Ken Keltner.

Yankees lead 2-0.

Fifth inning -

Cardinals tie the game with an improbable two-run home run from starting pitcher Al Brazle.

2-2 tie.

Sixth inning -

Both teams fail to score.

2-2 tie.

Seventh inning -

Both teams fail to score.

2-2 tie.

Eighth inning -

Both teams fail to score.

Wow, What a great series so far. And way to much stress for this owner.....lol..........Should be a great showdown for game 7.
