Basically yes ... I start the game then create new league ... then play ..... I usually coach 1 or 2 teams ..

This time when I started the game I thought I would just play the basic 2002 career league or whatever -- since I was going to quickly sim 3 seasons and then see what happens ** I am typeing this reply and checking email then will check the league --- BUT then I noticed that the standings were normal big league names and that when I went to the schedule the team names were ... Forge, Quackers, Cyclones, Gulls, Colts, Stars, Mountaineers, Feds, etc BUT not New York(N), Houston etc. like the standings.

**Is this a problem ** so I created a new league and the names matched Houston in the standings was Houston on the schedule.

I have not DL any rosters or imported any and do not use the editing function >>> just re-installed the game and DL the patch from Atari again and patched the exe file.

does this info help ?

Well, kinda. If I understand what you are saying it sounds like one of the leagues was alittle messed up. Is that the case? What about now, have you had any additional issues?

Steve

If I loaded the game and started play after adding the patch -- that is when I get the messed up team names. But when I create a new league then the standings and schedule match.

I will play the game again I hope in a little bit .... I am in May of the 4th year -- but first year I own/coach a team.

So this issue appears only with existing leagues? Well, all I can say though is don't use the "existing" leagues. This is not an issue that will be fixed for STB 2003 since the game is no longer in production and I don't think that it can be additionally patched since the title was an "Infogrames" title.

Steve,

the issue appears to be with the file that came with the game (original) ...... If I create a league it is fine until I get to 2 and a half seasons then it does not load.

This time I created the league - simmed 3 seasons -- and am entering year 5 now after owning and managing year 4 .... BUT tonight I play TDCB .

later

just one quick thing I can think of for this. It sounds to me that your league is becoming corrupted and the game is freezing when trying to load the league (which it does automatically on startup). Just make sure that you never open the game more than once at a time. Having the game opened more than once at a time will corrupt your league. This may not apply to you at all, but I have seen this problem before. I know that there are several people who have run the 1.6 STB patch into 50+ years (including myself).

For what it's worth, this is normal. The team's city name ("Team Name" in the team setup screen) is displayed in the standings, while the nickname (if it exists) is displayed in the schedule. The nicknames in the default league are different from MLB's because the nicknames of the MLB teams are trademarked, and Markus & Co would have to pay to use them.
