Koohead, I just started working with your file and opened a new forum thread to let you know how it goes.

Please respond to this whenever you can, keeping the threads separate will help me keep track of your data vs. tcblcommish's.

AGAIN MANY THANKS

Quote:
1.) What's the error you're getting?
The Error is when the game is importing the players that are FA and supposed to be on their respective teams. If I go throught the players.csv file and change all the -1's to 0 or any other number it works like a charm. Pain in the butt to place them every year but I can manually place the player on their respective teams.

Quote:
2.) Make sure in OOTP History that you have the Data Directory, Game HTML Files, and League Directory fields filled out and correct before attempting to import data. There's a bug with OOTP History that occurs sometimes if you use the 'browse' button to fill in these paths, so I recommend typing in the full path manually. For example, instead of browsing to C:\CBLLeagueFiles using the browse button, just type in C:\CBLLeagueFiles manually (or whatever the actual path is).
I haven't actually tried this... I will try in a few mins and get back to you.

Quote:
3.) Did you install OOTP History 4.0 and then unzip the 5.3.0 version files into that same directory, or did you upgrade from 4.0 to a different version (for example, 5.0.0 or 5.1.0) first, then install 5.3.0? The reason I ask is because there was a version (can't remember offhand which one it was) where the ootphist.mdb template file was wrong, so if you're using that you might have problems
I downloaded all and did it one step at a time. I Will try wiping out the OOTPHISTORY from the CPU and doing it again to try that also. So I should do 4.x and then 5.3 right away?

Will post as soon as I try those things...

Jim

I tried the things you suggested and got the same runtime error each time.

3021 is the error and it has to do with the -1 in the CSV files.

Hmm...

Here's what I think may be going on.

The -1 in PLAYERS.CSV is *normal*.

When the OOTP History utility sees any players with a -1 for the Team ID, it tries to look in the LTRANS.HTML file to figure out what team to assign them to.

Either the LTRANS.HTML file doesn't exist, or the utility can't find it for some reason.

1.) When you go into the OOTP Utility, and in the File | Options screen, what's the path for "Game HTML Files?"

2.) When you open the folder the "Game HTML Files" are supposed to be in, can you find an LTRANS.HTML file? If you do have that file in there, can you make it available so I can download it? Maybe I can spot something weird in there.

Ok now with your imput I have figured out the problem.

I had a guy Cade Gasper that suffered a Career ending injury and was released by the Calgary team but never got recorded that he was rleased.

Is there a way that I can place him on a team?

Good deal!

You should be able to edit PLAYERS.CSV and change the -1 to the number 13, which is Calgary's team ID. If you do that, it should hopefully fix the problem. Let me know how it goes!

I'm getting this error in the same spot now. I get the 3021 3/4 of the way through assigning free agents.

I did NOT have anyone with a career ending injury so now I have no idea how to fix this. I do have a ltrans.html and the path is correct in the program.

Any ideas?

Ok I read that i will run into problems if the game doesnt make hyperlinks in the ltrans.html and that seems to be the problem.

I created the pages again and still no hyperlinks. I'll have to keep trying.

Edit: I still cant get hyperlinks no matter what I try. This league originated in OOTP3 so I'm sure it has something to do with that. I guess I'm stuck. If I cant get OOTP to output hyperlinks in the pages, I guess I'll have no Catobase.

The transactions hyperlinks issue can be related to using the Cato History program for OOTP5 on a OOTP4 year end file. If that is the case then use the other version Cato History and it will work fine.

It is a program that outputs a full historical stats website for your league. Probably used mostly with online leagues but more and more folks are using it for solo leagues once you get the hang of it. Some basic computer skills are required to run it.

It's the most awesome add-on for OOTP5. It deepens the game to an amazing degree. Definitely download it, along with CommishJoe's exporter.

Slightly off topic, but, what ever happened to Jeff Cato? I haven't seen him around the boards in a long time.

Last post was almost four months ago. He's still active in a league I'm in, but hasn't been here in ages. Burnout?

I hope he's around to update the utility for OOTP6. Otherwise, I hope Markus somehow includes a cato-like utility in OOTP6.

I suspect he just got tired of answering questions about the utility all the time. He is still around and active in online leagues though, so he didn't leave us altogether.

But I agree that I hope he'll update his utility for OOTP6. Or release his source code so someone can.
