What was the last version that didn't have this issue? I'd like to reinstall that....OOTP26 is unplayable right now

I had mentioned the broken minor league "AI" way back in March:

It's only gotten worse as the year and patches progressed.

I am very disappointed, and I am not anticipating a solution anytime soon.

Is this only affecting live starts? I've been playing a historical-ish career save for a long time and I'm just not seeing this in my universe.

I get the angst on the radio silence., but I'll save any rancor until after the final patch comes. I presume they can read the chatter here, and I'm guessing they've drawn a line and said we'd said we'll do one more patch - let's focus on that now.

It's such a shame that OOTP has devolved into what it has become. The last 2 releases took 6+ months to become playable - it wasn't always like this. Even still, issues like this make the game very difficult to play. I hope for the sake of this great franchise that they are able to pull it together. This game was groundbreaking and it has been a consistent part of my life for over a decade now. But alas, its star is fading fast.

Cue Rain King coming in to defend the game and minimize my various quibbles. I have to believe he's on the payroll.

I just think there is a big difference between something being annoying/not ideal and "unplayable".

This game is very good at so many things that no other game even tries to do. People too often then get frustrated when it isn't doing one of those things well without applying a little bit of perspective.

If something like this makes the game "unplayable" for you, I have to wonder what state of the game would be playable. There are always going to be issues in a game this complex...and the OOTP team always works to address them with the resources they have available to them.

Does it pervade all game types?
I play a historical-ish game, but I'm not in the modern era yet and haven't seen this in my game.

I noticed this too. I hesitate to spread this into other large issues, but are any of you seeing insane contracts too? I have mid to above average players signing long term 40 million contracts in 2026. That doesn't jive with reality though I'm fine with the game moving into inflation at some point. Contract amounts have never been great or totally understandable, but I am fine with the game not being perfect. This has been a bit jarring for me along with the high number of moves.

I don't remember the last version that didn't have this issue. I will just say it has existed for a long time. I don't buy every version. The last version I bought was OOTP25.

What I have always done is just make all minor league promotions, demotions and free agent signings myself. It's extra work, but it works for me. I don't pay attention to what the AI teams do.

For me, the game is playable. If the game is not playable for others, I hope the developers can make some adjustments so everyone can have as much fun as I do.

For me, OOTP baseball continues to be the best sports management sim ever made.

I play almost entirely fictional, and I've seen this issue even in fictional play. That said, for my teams I just do all transactions myself, and ignore what the AI teams do. Everybody has his or her own way of playing.
