I've tried fast-simming and have not enjoyed it ... and the two times I tried being a manager only I eventually took over as GM after getting frustrated with my GM. So I think I've found what works well for me, and honestly I'm going to stick with this one for the long haul even if I eventually get canned ... I'm too hooked on the universe. I don't see any point in starting a new offline sim at this point with my already being in five online leagues too lol

Yeah planning on shaking things up ... adding a wrinkle where Sal "The Butcher" Maglie and young right fielder Roger Maris have taken the players' case against the reserve clause to the Supreme Court. I'm going to have the Warren court strike the clause down during the offseason, to take effect after the 1959 season. That oughtta keep the game world shaking

So we closed out April in last place. Did so with a bang, getting 1 hit by the Yankee and then 2 hit by the Giants in the very next game. I should mention that the Giants 2 hit us in a game that lasted 18 innings. Yup, we managed a whopping 3 hits over the course of 27 innings. Then again, my pitchers threw 17 innings of scoreless ball, so if I was a glass half full type....I'm not. The Giants starter allowed the 2 hits over the course of 9.1 innings, their relief pitchers didn't allow a single hit. Crazy.
We've started May with a 4 game win streak and now sit at 12-17. This has moved us into 3rd place in the AL West ahead of Kansas City and Chicago. Hard to believe the White Sox are in last place. They won the West just 2 years ago. Jake Cronenworth is no longer hot. In fact, he is ice cold. After such a great start he is now hitting below .200. He still leads the team with 18 RBI, but we've had to drop him in the order and may even need to bench him at some point. Our most consistent hitters have been Catfish Metkovich and Mickey Rocco. Bob Meusel has improved since his ice cold start, but he's still struggling. Grady Sizemore has been blah. Billy Lush our leadoff hitter, has managed to get his on base percentage above .300, but he's still not getting on base like a leadoff hitter should. Our team batting average has been as low as .212. Our pitching has slowly improved over the course of the season. Our bullpen ERA is down to right at 5 runs a game. This is laughable, but when you consider how high it was at one time, it's a dull ligtht at the end of the tunnel. Steve Rogers finished third in the Cy Young race 2 years ago. He's 1-5 this year. His last 2 starts have been good ones and he picked up his first win in his last time out. Jared Weaver has been our best pitcher by far over the short season. Jose DeLeon has picked up his game as well. I'm finally getting some out from Ron Bryant and Reese Olson as well I now know the name of my middle relief pitcher it's Ken Holloway. Buck Ross just doesn't get used. |
