ugh, yeah, I'm in about the same situation. On top of that, I noticed that the total minors roster are really producing some strange stats. Andruw jones hits .196? Maybe when he was 14, but not at 30. I don't mind journeymen minor leaguers making late career surges, there are plenty of recent examples of that, but the massive fluctuation in some of these seasons has to be seen to be believed. I saw told helton go from a 62 homer season to SEVENTEEN the next season. Ok, I traded for him, and he was on colorado, but even so, the guy was 31 when i got him, so it wasn't age. He dropped 100 points in avg, and 45 hrs? Shea isn't that much of a pitcher's park - hell - JUPITER isn't.

Here is one "error in line ## of a CSV file" that I was able to fix, it's a longshot but maybe it applies to some issues others are having with that error:
The CSV data is stored between the comma's and inside double quotes. If any of your data has a double quote in it then OOTP History will give you that "... line in CSV file" error. For example, a team name like the Boston "i" Dotters will cause the program to error out. Double quotes can occur easily in player nicknames in the players CSV file (like Doug "Lefty" Hodge) but I really can't think of many reasons to see them in the non player data. Unexpected comma's would also cause these kinds of errors so those are two things to look for when a OOTP History error points you to a specific line of a CSV file. So far whenever I have had that error I was able to find the problem on that line, edit it and rerun the program with no errors. Tip: Using a more powerful text editor than Notepad makes finding a specific line in a CSV file very easy. Ultra-Edit is a great program for this and I think it has a free trial period. I'm sure there are others as well but they make CSV trouble shooting easy. |

yeah, but this 'invalid use of null' error is perplexing. I have no idea what the hell is causing it.

actually, it was helpful. You solved my problem.
.It appears the problem was something as stupid as me not changing my league name in the OOTP history options to my actual leaguename (okfinally). I think it was set at okfinally.lg. Argh. The long and short of the solution is : CHECK THE PATHS AND NAMES IN OPTIONS. Even if you are absolutely sure you did everything right, odds are you missed something. Now it's time to go process 90 years of history. tx to everyone loc |

well -
it ALMOST works. I have a single season here, but when i simmed the next season, i only see the next season - the career stats aren't cumulative. Any idea what I could have missed? What I can see, so far, is brilliant. I can't wait to get the thing working completely... tx loc |

Just want to bump this to see if anyone figured out the 'line 2' problem. I am getting the same thing. Used exporter 5, started importing, and got the word wrap - line 2 error.
Thanks! |

SteveB: I got the same error you got when I downloaded the exporter from CommishJoe's site. That version of the exporter is specific to BOSI. On Cato's site, there is a link for Exporter5. Make sure you are using that. That was the solution for me.

When using the CSV Exporter, make sure you are using the one that is linked to off of the OOTP History pages, located at http://www.jcato.net/downloads/history/exporter5.zip |

I seem to have the same problem as locust now, it only generates reports for the current season, not any of the past ones. Anyone know how to import past stats?

You should be able to use the Career Exporter to accomplish this. You will probably have to start over, but look at the instructions here:
http://www.jcato.net/downloads/history/readme5.html Go to the section called "Importing Data," it's under step 4. |

yup...that's pretty much it. Either that is an earlier version of Cato, or it may be the Wallman utility (Ryan W) that is a similar history version.
The latest Cato will have additional things such as manager pages, win shares, and various career leaderboards

Yeah, that's the Cato history page, with a cascading style sheet edited to change the colors and layout. Wallman's utility, which worked with OOTP4, made pages that looked like baseball-reference.com.

Cool, now my only problem is that I don't think the commish saved the past league info. I can't find it in the 'in game almanac', and the pages for past gold glove winners, etc is blank, so I am not sure if I can even have a history with that league. Is there any way to import history into the game itself?

Cato's utility will work even if you don't have the award winners listed. You can add the award winners to the Game files by editing the corresponding text files in teh league_news_box directory.

Not that I know of. If the Almanac isn't there, and you don't have backups of the league files (most people normally back them up at the point where the "proceed to next season" button is waiting to be pressed), then the most you'll be able to get for that league would be the current year PLUS historical statistics for each player. You wouldn't be able to import any Award winners or postseason results for any previous years.
