What has happened is he is getting hurt a lot. Last season he put together great numbers and even received a vote or two for MVP, but he missed a lot of the season. At work, but I would bet he sat out 50+ games. The current season that is up to August 15th, has seen DiMaggio play in less than 30 games so far.
I really like the fact that he is still producing when he plays. In the past it was all to common to see some of the war studs turn into bench players during the war years.

Season 6, DiMaggio is once again riding the IL. Into September and he's played no more than 30 games. He's performed well in the games he has played, but he just can't stay off the injured list. I'm anxious to see what happens next season, as he should be getting out of the war years. So, based on just one of the guys that missed significant time due to the war, it looks like the new higher adjust/weaken settings may limit the overall chances of these guys playing through these years unscathed. . That being said, the positive thing is, DiMaggio is still hitting when he does get a chance to play. He is also starting when he is healthy. In the past, I often seen guys like this become bench players.
