Get comprehensive feedback and details on how users make their decisions. What criteria do they use, how often to they review their roster, how much do they weigh short-term versus long-term considerations, etc. You could also get volunteers to allow the game to precisely track the roster moves the user makes to build a database of such moves. A big enough pool of data allows meaningful analytical results to be extracted from it.

At the end of the day it's all numbers, and processing numbers is something computers are good at.

Learn how humans are making their decisions, and then get the AI to mimic that decision making process.

Thank you for illustrating my point. You are completely clueless, you just don't realize it.

Tell us more, oh great sage of AI programming. Speak to us from your great throne atop the mount and educate us poor peasants.

OOTP collects user data, they have for almost a decade now as long as you do not opt out.

It would be rather easy to collect data on how players make roster decisions, or anything else they wished to know.

Given many of the posts in here and many of the decisions made by RL MLB Front Offices, the absolute last thing I would want is for OOTP to try and model their AI behaviour after either player behaviour, or real MLB behaviour.

I think the player evaluation AI for ratings is too low, in my opinion it should not go below 70, something like 70/15/10/5.

Insulting the player base and feeling like only a select few have the answers in how to move the franchise forward is a tried and true method of improving the game.

These forums just get worse.
I still care about this franchise. But every version I care a little bit less.
I am just one user, but I am almost to the point where I am about to move on completely.
