Immaculate Grid 103 9/9:
Rarity: 187 IMMACULATE! Play at: https://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref My 1st perfect grid! Surprised Josh Donaldson was a more popular guess than Fred McGriff. I picked Barry Larkin just to spite Pete Rose. Yes, I'm petty. How was Halladay more memorable than Winfield or Molitor or Rickey? The middle square was the toughest for me to come up w/.

I see nothing immaculate yet! LOL.
So what's the deal about getting a percentage where on the same question Willie Mays is 24% and Willie McCovey is 13% or something like that. Last edited by Brad K; 07-15-2023 at 10:08 AM. |

Those % add up for your rarity score. Lower is better. So if you know a player nobody else comes up with when there's 30 different answers, you'll get a better (lower) score.
I'd be happy to get more than 6/9 ...

Immaculate Grid 104 9/9:
Rarity: 41 IMMACULATE! Play at: https://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref NGL, that was pretty sweet. All six of the pair-of-teams dudes were <1% rarities. (I won't spoil who goes where, but here they are by rarity ranking Gregg Jeffries, 0.9% Mike Torrez, 0.1% our own FatJack, 0.10% Brent Mayne, 0.09% Lou Piniella, 0.07% (surprised even that many people remembered that Lou had exactly ONE at-bat for one of the teams, even if it was a fairly memorable AB) and thank you Topps Vault for Mike Hedlund, at 0.05%) The 300-game winners were a bit harder. Not thrilled to spend 21% on the Mets, but for some reason I skipped right over Warren Spahn. WTF? And with the Cardinals, I chickened out and cost myself 12% because I wasn't confident as to which 19th-century pitchers had been in the Gateway City, even though, with the pressure off, I'm pretty sure Kid Nichols spent several years there, and I think Cy Young and John Clarkson also qualify. But I didn't want to ruin what was my best game yet. Oh, well. (ETA-yes to Cy, no to Clarkson. I should have recalled that the reason the 1899 Spiders were so terrible was because all their best players, including Denton T. Young, had been moved to St. Louis by the Robison brothers, which is why "syndicate ownership" is forbidden these days. Gah! OTOH, as I was wrong about Clarkson, who finished for the Robisons, but in Cleveland, that shows that I was wise to play it somewhat safe. Still, a missed opportunity, no doubt.) Grid 105
XOO XOO XOO Rarity: 489 Two of the actual two-team players were also on the Mets, but I won't claim that it didn't also help that I see the Tigers quite a bit. The Angels, not so much.

Immaculate Grid 105 8/9:
Rarity: 121 ⬜️ Play at: https://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref Blech. Tanked it early by trying to get cute on the BoSox 40 HR guy. No Buster for you, Buster! Should have gone right for XX and had done with it. All the player combos were reasonably rare, though: Kirk McCaskill, 0.7% Howard Johnson, 0.2% (I know, I could have done better, but it's "Hojo Johnson", after all.) Bill Monbouquette, future Mets pitching coach, 0.06% Don Kolloway (with thanks to the thread we had), 0.04% Juan Beniquez, 0.03% and Wonderful Willie Smith, 0.03% Surprised what I thought was a fairly obvious Cub slugger pick was only 3%. And of course, there aren't many options on the South side, given that Commiskey was death for HRs, so I don't mind eating 12% there. But damn. I guarantee Foxx wouldn't have been so bad. I could have beaten yesterday's score. Grrr. |

Rarity: 361 ⬜️ ⬜️ Play at: https://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref Tried to be slick & picked Jose Abreu instead of the Big Hurt. X I was ready to call foul on my Don Baylor pick for Cubs/Angels then looked it up & saw he managed the Cub, not played for them.X Did get a 0.6% on a Bill Madlock pick. Don't know how he came up in my brain.

Immaculate Grid 106 6/9:
Rarity: 301 ⬜️⬜️⬜️ Play at: https://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref Worst yet. I can't remember GGs to save my B-U-TT To be fair, I knew the two obvious answers for GG/200 K season, but I figured everybody would go for that, but aside from Mets fans, who recalls Ron Darling winning that one GG? But apparently Ronnie never had 200 Ks, which is embarrassing considering how many he walked that one season. And while having 3 teams that changed locations let me rack up rarity points by going for Senators and Expos (Maury Wills 0.1%, Claude Osteen 0.02%, Dick Nen 0.01%) I somehow convinced myself that Dr. Ron Taylor (after Cleveland, St. Louis, Houston and the Mets) had been exiled to Le Parc Jarry to play out the string, when in fact he finished as a Friar. I confused his post-Met days with his later being the Jays' team doctor. Which is both wrong category and wrong province. Sigh. (And I KNEW that Claude Raymond and his 0.07% rarity was just sitting there. I figured that with the game already dead, I'd show Dr. Ron loyalty. Oops.) |

So wait. With GGs they had to win it for the linked team, just like 40 HR guys had to do it for that team? Gah, no wonder my "Graig Nettles got a GG he didn't deserve and finished up in Montreal" try didn't score then. Feh.
I couldn't even think of any GGer who was briefly a Ranger, I'm supposed to know someone who won a GG AS a Ranger? Good luck with that. |

So if they have an intersection of the Reds and Pirates Dave Parker is higher than Tommy Helms. I wonder where Frank Thomas fits in. |

Are people actually able to see other players' grids? All I get are xs and os.
(Is this a browser issue?) That's why I've been naming my selections, after all. |
