Happens much too often.

Another thing... I have better players on my reserved rosters, but they just linger there and retire... don't understand that... it looks like the guy with the better ratings would play.
They both sound like AI settings issues EC, maybe check some of the excellent threads on here discussing what works best and do a bit of fine-tuning on those you are using.

Thanks for the reply.

I just let the AI run things... I use default settings.

I just watch the league play out and recap it in my dynasty forum thread.

This is actually part of the game.

Definitely on the extra innings when you can't afford it -- either because your bullpen is gassed in the game, or because real-life you has to be somewhere else.

Here's another one: It seems to me that if I consider pinch-hitting for a pitcher and decide to let him hit, he usually gets on. If I could hypnotize myself to seriously consider it all of the time, I think my pitchers would hit about .600.

Whenever I try to squeeze one game of OOTP in before leaving for work or going to a doctor's appointment etc., it is almost a given that no matter what the score is heading into the 8th or 9th, the losing team will tie the game and send it into extra innings. More often than not it ends up going 14 or 15 innings before the game is decided.
This has been part of the game forever.
I've been playing out all nine innings of my team's games for years.
Goal is try to get in maybe a week's worth of games a day.
So, if I have a free half-hour every once in a while I'll try and squeeze one in.
Yup, that's when you get one of those 15-inning marathons that take close to an hour to wrap up.

As to the pitching doing better after a mound visit.
Happens all the time. But I've also come to learn, if the pitcher gives an answer that indicates he is out of gas or even worse a "get the hell off my mound" it's time to get him out of there.
