Cards are reporting that the A's, for Murphy, wanted Nootbar and Donovan from the Cards, along with their #1 minor league pitching prospect.
Noot had the 5th best OPS in MLB after the All Star break, and Donovan, as a rookie, won a Gold Glove, and had an OBP of .394. Nope. |

I had never heard of this fellow ... I thought you were giving somebody the "Dumbfred" treatment ... so I went looking.
Lars Nootbaar (don't forget the extra "a" — I can hear him spelling his name throughout his life: "double-o, double-a") Another blond Scandinavian god like Noah Syndergaard, eh? Well, no. God bless America (she needs it). This is the way it should be: Unfortunately, he hasn't shown much yet but he's still young, just turned 25 in September. I will be watching for him, now.

Mets fans know all about that nutbar, Nootbaar…alas.
Between him and Paul DeJong, I'm half convinced the Cardinals have instituted some "Dutch Revenge!" campaign, training players of Nederlands descent to victimize New York in payback for James Stuart (later James II of England) kicking Peter Minuit and company out of town, back in 1664. Get over it, Dutchies! Sheesh… |

Edit to add..his OPS+ was higher than Matt Olsen's, or Rhys Hopkins. Last edited by dsvitak; 12-09-2022 at 02:27 PM. |

Man, I am stoked about this upcoming season. I may even invest in MLB.tv, I'm that stoked. This thread will run past a 100 pages by Halloween!

He is one of those guys who were mentioned might benefit in free agency due to next year's rule changes, specifically because of his speed. Two GGs in CF isn't shabby either. Also, he may bounce back in 2023 now that his labrum has been repaired. But an exciting acquisition at this point? No.

Unless they're buying him as a 7th+ inning defensive replacement, I'm still saying ugh.

He's 32 now, and has lost a couple of steps. He is still a SLIGHTLY better than average defender, but probably 30th out of 32 in offense. |

Oh, I will still be paying Aaron Judge indirectly. Think of your cable bill, whether you watch sports or not, or your next six-pack of Budweiser. But there is no need to be proactive about it.

If you are a T-Mobile user, get the T Tuesday app (or whatever it is called). T-Mobile offers free subscriptions to a host of partner streaming services on Tuesdays. I waited for the free MLB.tv day last March. I was a paid MLB tv subscriber for a decade or so until my son pointed this out to me last season.

So the revenue is being generated, regardless of how much it hurts our woke friend's fee-fees. And, compared to corporate profits and the Steinbrenner clan, I think Aaron Judge makes a damn good choice of recipient, all things considered. |
