Very true!

Exactly. No new missions, just a bunch of random cards requested by last year's tourney winners. Will any of these be useful in future missions, or are they just eye candy and grist for the completionist mill? When will we SEE some new missions, preferably using some of the missionless silver/gold/diamond cards we're holding? Since launch, it's been Negro Leagues and BAL up to gold as the only "connected" series, and the gold cards are nothing more than roster fillers. Forget about Future Legends. The cards are mostly garbage, and the rewards are completely out of line with the investment.

Where are the team missions? I'm sure fans of [insert favorite team] are wondering. Fandom has already taken a hit with replacement of Build a Legend by Build a Lineup, which is nowhere near as team focused.

I just shut down the Thursday stream and walked away after earning my first Twitch drop because I'm sick of hearing the laundry list of tournament winners, followed by the disappointment that no new missions are out, that the new card releases don't help with building a winner, and that there's little point in ripping all the packs that last week's METICULOUSLY DOCUMENTED tourney winners acquired.

This did, of course, allow me to avoid the added frustration of finding the card server overloaded and unresponsive. Cold comfort, indeed. I'm thoroughly bummed...and we're already two months in.

I was on the fence about purchasing this year after seeing the likely direction the game was going last year.

I fully regret purchasing and buying PP. This years release has been a disaster on multiple levels. At least they sold the company during their peek and got paid, but this game has gone to do-do. Totally not as interested as in years past and definitely done after this season.

I mentioned earlier this week that my sucktastic team is still hanging around .500 in diamond. I thought I should update that I am still at an even 70-70, even though I haven't done a single thing to advance this team in three weeks since completing the Live missions. I should be getting slaughtered. I should be getting relegated.

It only emphasizes the point made by others that there's NOTHING to do in the game right now. If doing nothing maintains a mediocre (but apparently not awful) status, I'm just as well to login to my '22 team and watch my maxed out team compete with maxed out teams for no apparent reason. I have nothing to work towards to improve my team, and apparently not improving my team does nothing to diminish the results. I went 86-76, 85-77, and now looking at something close to 81-81 without making a single addition to my lineup. Not one. This is getting ridiculous. Even the whales buying up what little is out there has done little but steal five wins away from this putrid squad after three weeks. I mean, come on... my LH 1B is running a -1.3 WAR and I'm 70-70???

Trust me, I'm not boasting about the record or anything I'm doing, because I'm not doing anything but card shopping for players that won't even make this team. I can't imagine sitting out a single day of updates last year without it affecting my results. THREE WEEKS!

EDIT: Thought I should mention that my run-differential is +38, so it's not like the .500 record is out of luck. THREE WEEKS!

Some days I'm one of the worst complainers here, and other days I'm defending the DevTeam for what feels like unfair attacks. Today, I'm feeling defensive...

I do not envy the OOTP team. Between trying to meet the challenges COM2US hands them, and trying to fulfill the numerous - and variable - wants of the customer base, it probably feels like a loosing battle most days.

What's surprising is they never give up. True, their presence here on the forums seems a lot less since the sale of the game, but I suspect that is a self-imposed reaction to the reality that they are operating under the rules and expectations of COM2US. Some days must feel impossible.

Offering our opinions on the game is what ultimately will make the game better, but that doesn't mean ALL of our opinions are going to make a difference. Each idea has to be measured by how many will support it as well as how difficult it is to implement. Keep in mind that no matter how good you think YOUR idea is, it may not be liked by most customers, or even possible to implement.

Just for the record - if I spout off on something I don't like in the future, remind me of what I said here. Although I'm disappointed with V23-PT so far, I'm 100% sure I will buy v24 and hope it is more to my liking.

Before anyone goes off the deep edge and gives up on the game, remember these guys have consistently released this game for 23 years!

I don't think there is another game in existence I've played for so long.

I love getting excited that I pull a duplicate silver I can turn around only to find it's selling for 120PP.

It’s not a good sign that lately my greatest joy in the game is to pull a Silver or higher Historical card that I don’t already have and MIGHT be part of a future mission. That is the definition of a grind.

I've been playing PT since Feb. 2019. I definitely won't be back for PT24. End of story.

To kinda piggyback off of this. I’ve had a team in Diamond for several weeks now. Most weeks just hanging around .500. I just completed the Negro League missions a week ago, and really have lost interest with this team due to a lack of missions. So I set my team for at the start of last week, and I only twice checked on the team all week. I made no adjustments all week. I won my division and came within 2 games of being in the first Perfect League for 2023. While maybe I just got lucky this week, but maybe some of it has do with not having a lot of room to improve your roster at a certain point.

I guess this is a case study for the difference between completing the Negro League missions or not — in a simplistic way, it’s the difference between a .500 team and a division winner. There’s obviously some deviation to that week-to-week. Like Professor above, my largest grief is that we’re eight weeks in and there’s already little to work on. In previous years, leaving your team alone for any number of days would find yourself behind the curve. I’m checking my PP each day, opening tournament packs that I’ve won, and buying silver and gold historicals. That’s the game right now.

If you’re not in PEL this week you still have plenty to work on.

But do you “plenty to work on” that provides any sense of fun?

Fun is subjective. Some people find CrossFit fun… some people like wearing bees as a beard.

I find the game fun enough to enjoy it for what is it, not what it isn’t.

Fair enough. It is also fair to say that PT23 has been a lot less fun so far than the game was over the past couple of years. I’m still playing it but this is the first time that I’ve been seriously asking myself if I am going to continue.

I can see the new marketing tagline now: PT23 - THE BEE BEARD OF BASEBALL GAMES…FEEL THE BUZZ!!!

I'll agree to disagree there. I think with the exception of the all the server trash almost ever part of the game has been a step forward from last year.

I personally love that the missions are harder this year. The majority of packable cards were completely useless last year and I think it's great that they're getting their moment in the sun.

For anyone saying there isn't anything to do I'd suggest diving deeper into tournaments.

The tournaments are the most fun part of the game right now. I agree that the mission rewards were too powerful last year but feel that so far this year they have overcompensated both in terms of the number of missions and the quality of the rewards. As example, the reward of a single Perfect Pack for completing all three Negro League missions is extremely weak. Once I got my Cool Papa Bell for completing the Outfielders mission after getting a lucky Turkey Stearnes pull, I have felt zero motivation to put effort into the other two.
It’s a tough balancing act for the team, but I feel they have missed the mark so far this year.

ADDENDUM - Pulling a Platinum Series PEAK Ivan Rodriguez just now was A LOT of fun.
