Opening Day 2034.
![]() San Juan Coqui #1 vs San Juan Coqui L 3-6 5:05 PM PT Monday 3rd April 2034 Elysian Fields 42,903 Bernardo Ríos Well Opening Day could have been better, it actually started perfect that was until the 3rd inning then it started to go downhill. Juan Garanzuay got the opening day start, nerves seemed to have got to him in the 1st as he gave up a single to Roberto 'Dracula' Salazar but more worryingly he walked both Wally Glasser and Jorge Pagán. However he turned the tide and got out of the inning without giving up a run, if Garanzuay had a shaky start the Calzones bats had a hot start with 3 runs from 5 hits although they may have pushed the game out of the reach of San Juan if they hadn't left Jorge Flores & Yasunari Fujihara on 2nd and 3rd respectfully when Luis Antonio Aguilera groundout on a full count to end the inning. Garanzuay gained his composure in the second only giving up a single to Dan Collins although Oscar Wetherby made him work for the out when he finally succumbed after facing 12 pitches, Fernando Castro also turned his game around facing only the mandatory 3 batters. The game started to get away from the Calzones in the 3rd when San Juan pulled within a run making it 2-3, they then levelled the game in the 5th when Jorge Pagán scored on a Dan Collins single. San Juan took the lead in the 7th when Bernardo Ríos crossed the plate when Dan Collins reached on an error, José 'Box Car' Gonzáles also crossed the plate for the Coqui on a Oscar Wetherby fly ball to leftfield. The Coqui increased there lead when a fly ball to centerfield of Jorge Pagán scored Wally Glasser in the 8th to make it 6-3 to San Juan the eventual final score on Opening Day. |

San Juan Coqui Series.
![]() San Juan Coqui #2 vs San Juan Coqui L 3-4 5:05 PM PT Tuesday 4th April 2034 Elysian Fields 21,600 Andy 'Numbers' Edwards San Antonio left fielder Edwards had a good game, even if his team did not. The Calzones of Laredo dropped a 4-3 decision to San Juan at Elysian Fields. Edwards was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. António Ávila earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. San Juan is off to a hot start at 2-0. The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Jorge Pagán came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing San Antonio pitcher Juan Alfaro, he hit a 0-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Juan on top, 4-3. "You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said San Antonio manager Kijuro Yoshida. ![]() San Juan Coqui #3 vs San Juan Coqui W 7-1 5:05 PM PT Wednesday 5th April 2034 Elysian Fields 18,223 Miguel Torres The San Antonio Calzones of Laredo picked up a win at Elysian Fields, taking down the San Juan Coqui, 7-1. Starting pitcher Miguel Torres was a big reason why. With the win, San Antonio elevates its record to 1-2. The Calzones of Laredo got a big hit from first baseman Gilberto Fernández. In the bottom of the fifth, Fernández pounded a 2-run double to center. His 2nd double of the season put the Calzones of Laredo ahead, 4-1. "Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said San Antonio manager Kijuro Yoshida. |

Amsterdam Lions Series.
![]() Amsterdam Lions #1 @ Amsterdam Lions L 1-4 10:05 AM PT Friday 7th April 2034. Stadium Urbanus 45,519 Bang-xao Niu Amsterdam starter Bang-xao Niu had a strong outing against the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo at Stadium Urbanus. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-1 win. Amsterdam goes to 3-1 with the win. Roberto 'Fudd' Martínez took Vicente Díaz deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Lions on top, 2-0. In all, Martínez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3. "We put it together today and came out with the win," Martínez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing." ![]() Amsterdam Lions #2 @ Amsterdam Lions L 1-3 10:05 AM PT Satday 8th April 2034. Stadium Urbanus 52,026 Manuel Canales The Amsterdam Lions topped the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo, 3-1, in Imperial League action at Stadium Urbanus. The standout performance belonged to Amsterdam pitcher and Santiago, Dominican Republic, native Manuel Canales. Canales got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 5.2 innings. Canales allowed no runs. Kelsey Buck, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Carl Ford didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and San Antonio trailing 3-1, Ford retired Yasunari Fujihara to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Ford, with a wink. The Lions, now 4-1, have been playing some good baseball. Last edited by ukhotstove; 09-13-2021 at 12:29 PM. |

Amsterdam Lions Game of the Series.
![]() Amsterdam Lions #3 @ Amsterdam Lions L 1-2 10:05 AM PT Sunday 9th April 2034. Stadium Urbanus 54,430 Enrique 'Old Nick' Vázquez A few hundred fans had made the trip from Calzone country to watch the Calzones take on the Lions in Amsterdam, many may have hit the local cafes after the game to try and forget the nightmare that unfolded. For 8 innings it looked like the Calzones would shut out the Lions, in fact for 8 innings it was beautiful baseball by the Calzones pitching staff. Juan Garanzuay started the game for San Antonio, his line was 5.1 innings with just 4 hits unlike the game against San Juan were he walked 3 nobody from Amsterdam got on base without earning it. A big plus point were the 7 strikeouts he posted, however when he was pulled from the game there were a few words said to the manager no doubt an higher pitch count is in order. The game carried on with Roberto Rodríguez going up against the Lions Vázquez, neither missing a best both stifling the bats of their opposition. Ju-hyung Park joined the pitching party for Amsterdam to send it to the bottom of the 9th with the Calzones still in front 1-0. Juan Alfaro approached the mound with the Calzones faithful smelling a victory, he claimed the scalp of Nikolay Rusanovsky and even when Clarence Carpenter got on with a single and Alfaro got Norberto Escamilla out nobody could foresee what was to unfold. Carpenter advanced to 2nd on the Escamilla ground out, he then advanced to 3rd on an Alfaro wild pitch, the Calzones were crumbling. It crumbled even further when he walked Roberto 'Fudd' Martínez. Ashley Lammas came to the plate and drive in Carpenter with an rbi single, the nail in Alfaros proverbial coffin came when Horiuchi Sugimoto drove in Martínez with another rbi single. The Calzones snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. |

London Underground Game of the Series.
![]() London Underground #1 vs London Underground Tuesday 11th April 2034 5:05 PM PT Elysian Fields 24,725 W 6-2 Dean McNeil The Calzones had just come of a stretch of 6 games were they had won 1 game, morale not only with the players but the fans had taken a dip. Nearly 43,000 fans had turned up for Opening Day, in there last home game just 18,223 had come through the gates, something had to be done. Top Of The 1st. 3 up 3 down, it wasn't the conventional 3 up 3 down but McNeil faced only 3 batters. He seemed a bit nervous for a veteran when lead off hitter Freddy Hernández came to the plate, the nerves seemed to ebb away though when Hernández got on base with an infield single. The second standing ovation of the game the first came when he took the mound came when Bill Jones of the Underground aptly ground into a 5-4-3 double play, the top of the 1st came to an end when Luis Cervantes struck out swinging. "We needed a marque player, we looked at Tony Parker and a couple of other players but Dean McNeil caught my eye. I'll be honest I did everything I could to bring both Tony & Dean to the Calzone family but it was a dollar to far, so after picking up Yasunari Fujihara to fill the catchers role I felt Dean was our main target so we went all in for him". GM Neil Thomas. Top Of The 2nd. McNeil would face 4 in the top of the 2nd, Lorenzo González went back to the bench via a ground out. Jaime Villanueva got on first when a pop up just evaded the outfielders but Ed Black (groundout) and Jo 'Socrates' Nii (struck out swinging) didn't worry McNeil. " I told my manager I wanted a challenge, of course I wanted to get paid and a ring would be a bonus but a challenge was top of the list". Dean McNeil Top Of The 3rd. McNeil admitted later on he lost a bit of composure at the start of the 3rd, a couple of balls that could have been strikes that ended up walking Raúl Padilla his eye was on the umpire rather than the game. He was still unsettled for Juan León who reached on a single, he got Freddy Hernández out on a 3-1 groundout but Padilla who had reached 3rd on Leóns single crossed the plate. He finished the inning getting both Bill Jones (1-3) and Luis Cervantes (6-3) out via groundouts. "Dean said he felt good the couple of days he'd been with the team, I'll be honest I felt he should have waited until the Amsterdam series to pitch but he wanted to pitch against London, he'd waited all off season and didn't want to wait any longer to pitch". Tadakuni Hayashi pitching coach. Top Of The 4th. Although he walked Jaime Villanueva he dispatched Lorenzo González with 1 pitch on a groundout to 1st, Ed Black struck out swinging and Jo 'Socrates' Nii hit a fly ball to left to end the top of the 4th. "Deans never nervous, I'm the nervous one, always have been". Helen, Deans wife. Top Of The 5th. The second of the 2 runs that McNeil gave up came in the top of the 5th, a single from Raúl Padilla got the ball rolling and a stolen base during Juan León at bat put him in scoring position. He got closer to his goal on a 6-3 León groundout moving him to 3rd, then crossed the plate on a Freddy Hernández 4-3 groundout, the inning ending when he got Bill Jones out on a fly ball to centre. "For an old man he as the body of a man 10 years younger than he actually is". Juan Santos, Team Trainer. Top Of The 6th. 3 up 3 down, Luis Cervantes, Lorenzo González and Jaime Villanueva all came up in the 6th and all followed each other without troubling McNeil. All 3 popping up, Cervantes & Villanueva to centre and González to right. "The couple of days he's been with us he's worked his socks off, I've never seen someone so determined to pitch in a game" . Tadakuni Hayashi, pitching coach. Top Of The 7th. If Jo 'Socrates' Nii (error) and Raúl Padilla (single) hadn't reached then the top of the 7th would have lasted 3 pitches, Ed Black popped up to right before Nii and Padilla got on base. Juan León popped up to centre after Nii and Padilla got on base and a Freddy Hernández 3-1 groundout ended the top of the 7th. "He's a great addition to the ball club, if you can't learn from a guy like Dean you can't learn from anyone". Juan Garanzuay, Calzones pitcher. Top Of The 8th. McNeil left the game after facing Bill Jones who got on with a single, his final contribution to the game was to get Luis Cervantes to pop up to leftfield and to take the standing ovation from the Calzones faithful. " We'd agreed that unless he was pitching a perfect game his pitch count would be 100, when he clocked 100 up he looked over gave a smile and before I could stand up he'd pitched that 101. He looked back over gave another smile, gave a nod of the head to say he was done then took his hat off and saluted the crowd". Kijuro Yoshida, manager. The Calzones eventually went on to win the game 6-2, McNeil not only went on to claim the W but also the player of the game as well. |

Amsterdam won the Elysian Fields contest, 4-2. Stockstill threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The defeat makes San Antonio 3-6. In the top of the 12th, Amsterdam shortstop Francisco Montoya had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out, Montoya stroked a 2-run double to right-center. It made the score 4-2, Amsterdam. For the game, he went 1 for 5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. San Antonio manager Kijuro Yoshida said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. Amsterdam Lions Game of the Series
![]() Amsterdam Lions #3 vs Amsterdam Lions W 1-0 5:05 PM PT Sunday 16th April 2034. Elysian Fields 34,953 Juan Garanzuay Just what the doctor ordered, Garanzuay had put in 2 good performances against San Juan & Amsterdam and had 2 decent performances in those games but was on a 75 pitch count. Many including Garanzuay thought that he had the stamina for that number to be increased, low and behold that number was increased and he pitched 7 beautiful innings of baseball, 7 innings that have up only 3 hits and 6 Ks the only drawback being 3 walks. He faced 3 in the 1st on only 6 pitches, Sandor 'Pooky' Vis went down on 1 pitch with a groundout to first. Clarence Carpenter struck out swinging having faced 5 pitches, Norberto Escamilla faced the same ending as Vis with a 1 pitch groundout to first. He faced only 3 in the second although not as easy as the 1st, Roberto 'Fudd' Martínez went down to a 6-3 groundout, César Salgado did reach 1st but was out trying to stretch it to 2nd. The third victim was Francisco Montoya who struck out swinging on a 1-2 count. He went on to face 5 in the 3rd Horiuchi Sugimoto 6-3 groundout, Tom May struck out swinging, Nathaniel Vanrenen double, Sandor 'Pooky' Vis walk and Clarence Carpenter on a fly ball to centre to end his part in the inning. 4 in the 4th Norberto Escamilla popped out to right, Roberto 'Fudd' Martínez walk, César Salgado groundout to 1st and Francisco Montoya on a 6-3 groundout. 3 in the 5th Horiuchi Sugimoto single then caught stealing 2nd, Tom May groundout to 1st and Nathaniel Vanrenen fell to a 4-3 groundout. He faced 4 in the 6th Sandor 'Pooky' Vis 3-1 groundout, Clarence Carpenter walk, Norberto Escamilla struck out swinging and Roberto 'Fudd' Martínez struck out swinging to end the inning, he finished his outing with 3 in the 7th César Salgado fly ball to left, Ashley Lammas 4-3 groundout and Horiuchi Sugimoto struck out swinging. |

Kentucky Thoroughbreds Game of the Series.
![]() Kentucky Thoroughbreds #1 vs Kentucky Thoroughbreds W 4-3 5:05 PM PT Tuesday 18th April 2034 Elysian Fields 26,864 Ramón Gonzáles Dean McNeil came into the game on the back of a 6-2 win over the London Underground in his debut game for the Calzones, a couple of walls and 2 runs given up in the London game was a decent start to his Calzones stint but McNeil wanted to prove his worth by more than just winning a game. His worth was a bit less than the near $30 million he'll be earning this season, first to the plate was Bang-xao 'Beetle' You who hit a line drive triple. Next up was Emílio 'Pudd' Díaz who despite a 6-3 groundout scored Bang-xao to give Kentucky an early 1-0 lead, Shu-de Mu reached on a single and made it 2-0 when he crossed the plate on the back of an António Canseco single. He got Brad Davis out on a fly ball to right, the Calzones halved the Thoroughbreds lead in the bottom of the 1st when Yasunari Fujihara reached on an error and Andy 'Numbers' Edwards crossed the plate to make it Kentucky 2-1 after the 1st. McNeil would struggle in the 2nd, Rocky Kowalski hit a double Tony Burston reached on a single which scored Kowalski making it 3-1 to Kentucky. McNeil closed out the top Of the 2nd when Burston was out on a fielders choice when Ti-an Louis came to the plate, Bang-xao 'Beetle' You was out to a 6-3 groundout and Emílio 'Pudd' Díaz out to a fly ball to right. McNeil was never really troubled after the 2nd giving up only singles to Brad Davis in the 3rd, Emílio 'Pudd' Díaz in the 5th and Rubén Ortega in the 6th. Ash Thompson took over from McNeil in the top of the 7th to pitch 2 innings of shut out ball, he would give the ball to Juan Alfaro for the 9th to finish the game in a 4-3 Calzones win. |

Kentucky Thoroughbreds Series.
![]() Kentucky Thoroughbreds #2 vs Kentucky Thoroughbreds W 3-2 (10) 5:05 PM PT Wednesday 20th April 2034 Elysian Fields 27,268 Miguel Torres San Antonio Calzones of Laredo starter Miguel Torres was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Kentucky Thoroughbreds, 3-2. The winner in relief was Juan Alfaro. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-2. The Thoroughbreds fall to 6-9 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2034 season. The Calzones of Laredo procured the win, in large part because of first baseman Juan Bonilla. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single. "This win should put a little bounce in our step," said Torres. ![]() Kentucky Thoroughbreds #3 vs Kentucky Thoroughbreds L 0-2 5:05 PM PT Thursday 21st April 2034 Elysian Fields 27,436 Michael Doyle The Kentucky Thoroughbreds got a magnificent performance from pitcher Michael Doyle, who muffled the San Antonio offense en route to a tight 2-0 Thoroughbreds win at Elysian Fields. Doyle, the winner, moves to 1-3. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 6 walks. Alfredo Aranda got credit for the save for Kentucky. It was his 6th of the year. Rocky Kowalski, the 27-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Kowalski contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Kentucky up, 2-0. "If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kowalski told the Kentucky Observer. The loss drops the Calzones of Laredo to 6-8. |

Watt Powell Field 60,806 José 'El Presidente' Tojeira Watt Powell Field was the site of a tense game between the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo and West Virginia Alleghenies. The West Virginia Alleghenies went home winners at Watt Powell Field, thanks in large part to starter José Tojeira. Tojeira stifled the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo, enabling West Virginia to grab the 3-1 win. Tojeira went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-0. José López recorded the save for West Virginia, his 5th of the season. Alejandro Luján had a key at-bat with two out in the bottom of the fifth for West Virginia. With a runner on 2nd and the Alleghenies leading 1-0, he hit a run-scoring single. "For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Tojeira. At 10-5, the Alleghenies have played well so far. #2 @ West Virginia Alleghenies L 2-6 4:05 PM PT Saturday 22nd April 2034. Watt Powell Field 60,028 Bartolo García The first-place West Virginia Alleghenies took on the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo in front of a spirited crowd. ![]() West Virginia Alleghenies #3 @ West Virginia Alleghenies W 5-2 4:05 PM PT Sunday 23rd April 2034. Watt Powell Field 51,421 Dean McNeil The Calzones ended a 3 game losing streak in the Alleghenies backyard on the back of another solid performance by Dean McNeil, McNeil as been a revelation since he signed for the Calzones coming into this game with a 1-0 record. McNeil only gave up 2 hits and a walk in 6 shut out innings, he had the perfect start in the first 3 innings when he faced the minimum hitters. In the 4th and 5th he gave up a couple of doubles to Alejandro Luján and Alfredo 'El Jaguar' Guzmán but reverted back to type when he faced only 3 in the 6th, McNeil left the Calzones in a strong position leading 5-0. However the win nearly slipped away when Damien Neighbour replaced McNeil and have up 2 in the 9th, the flow of runs was stopped and the win cemented when Johnathan 'Crazy Legs' Hurlburt and Juan Alfaro finished of the game for the Calzones 5-2. |
