Ran into an interesting issue here
I'm currently checking leagues for all of the player name facegens files and getting rid of dupes and transforming the names to historical ID where possible. I started a real world game with every league possible so I can check each name. I was going down the list and I came across Eddie Bane. There is only one Eddie Bane, a historical player which I know I had already done all historical players, so I checked his historical ID in the standard game: bane--001edd and went to cross check with my Historical MLB folder and I did not find a match.I then opened my 1975 league andI found eddie bane whose historical ID looked like this bane--001edw What gives? Why two different IDs based on game type? I really hope this is an exception. anyone else come across this before? Also, the fact they are two different pictures is not lost on me, but the database is what concerns me more Not sure why the same player

That's disturbing.
As to the faces, the bane--001edw .fg file doesn't exist in my database, the bane--001edd .fg is the one without sunglasses and the Eddie_Bane .fg file is the one with sunglasses. The fact you have the sunglasses picture on "bane-001edd" is likely because you overwrote the other one in the clean-up. But as to the database issue... I can't understand why the retired player file from a starting game wouldn't have the "bane--001edw" in that field. The "edw" is the one that is in bRef's minor league database and it is also the only one that will import Eddie (I know the "baneed01" also imports him, of course, but the minor league code should too when you toggle the minor league database on). So, if that's the case, the "edd" field is a hangover from when the codes were different, perhaps? I too hope that's a one-off... |

Yeah. I changed the edd version to the Ed’s version when I made my first pass I have since overwritten it with the picture with the glasses as that seems to be the Most accurate based on pics from bref. Definitely is not a one off from what I have seen so far. Looks like whatever DB the game uses for a standard game is different from when you start with a historical game and that shouldn’t be. Or if it has to be that way, then they should be identical in IDs. Granted, it’s not critical in a standard game as you probably won’t see the historical faces much unless you dig deep but still… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The roster db and the historical db are two completely different dbs. They generally use the same id's but the roster db sometimes uses different (out of date) id's.
We're planning on merging the two eventually, but that is a major, major project. For now, just let me know if/when you find any of these and I'll adjust them in the roster db to match what the historical db uses.

I understand now why the creator of the set I use had the naming convention he had. It’s because he used the standard game database rather than the historical. Makes sense to me now.

I may put it up there eventually. It is not something I will probably be updating regularly, so the mediafire download would work as well I suppose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
