for the love of god, get rid of the dropdowns on the roster screen (ratings, talents, salary, etc)
go back and play v4 - you'll see what a difference it makes |

*edit: Adding this stuff that I forgot I wanted to mention. Also, a minor tweak to the hot/cold list on the Team Roster page. Would it be feasible to have this list check to see if a guy has played recently? I don't mean he has to have played within 2 days to make it, I like the idea of my part-time players listed on there even if they only get 5-10 ABs per week if they meet the other "Hot/Cold" criteria. But I hate seeing my guys on the list who are on the DL with an "out for season" injury and the "Hot" list says a guy's been batting .429 in the "Last 7 days" or whatever when I know perfectly well that he's been on the DL for 3 months and will be for 7 more. Is that something worth looking at, or does it bug only me? Last edited by WLight; 04-28-2003 at 11:40 PM. |

Two things:
1. Re-work the speed rating and stolen base ability where it would actually be possible for an A: speed A: stolen base ability player to perhaps have a great season and steal 100 + bases. 2. Custom reports, where we can choose what categories to include in our reports.

The ability to play out minor league games and spring training games.
Also, allow players from very minor (in baseball terms) countries, ie the Netherlands (Recent players include: Robert Eenhorn came from Holland (ex yankee) and Ralph Milliard (ex Met and Marlin). There are a few in the minors at the moment. Also, Australia, Netherlands Antillies, etc etc... |

It would be nice to be allowed to write down your own origins, but just to tell you that the game has some of those already. Can't tell about frequencies, but I've seen a pitcher from the Netherlands in OOTP.

I really want the minor leagues customized as to number of levels or none at all. A small, fictional league would not have 3 levels of minor leagues.

Additionally, what about a simple, "true ratings" mode- as in, everything you see is absolutely accurate? (Regular interface-wise- I'm not asking to see the 8.7s, etc.) I realize that this takes away from some of the hard work that has been put into the "fog of war," as it's frequently phrased, but I think that to be able to play without it would allow for a very different though equally-enjoyable experience in some cases. Edit: You know, "scouts off" would pretty much allow for that, wouldn't it? What am I thinking? Though, if you can think of some way that it wouldn't....

In addition to the current awards I would like to see:
Best Reliever (Rolaids) Manager of the Year Post Season and AllStar MVP and definately a more complex formula for who gets into the HOF. If something like this were coded I would wet my pants in joy http://www.baseball-reference.com/ab...ml#hof_monitor

Please don't forget the "Capitalization In Names" issue which underwent a lengthy analysis in this:
http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...threadid=26566 thread and garnered about 70+ responses, most from people who said they'd love it if it were addressed. Thanks! |

About doubleheaders, a very good post was just made on that subject, with some well thought out suggestions as to what should be involved with getting them fully supported in the game. Well worth reading: http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...threadid=33197

Here are a few suggestions:
1. Add an OPTION to turn off the "star ratings," so people who want more of a challenge can choose to play with "talent only, no stars." While the stars are helpful in fictional leagues and for those without much experience in player statistical analysis, I think the star system of rating players is too simplified and misleading. 2. Incorporate spring training statistics, even if not actual games. For example, in addition to (or maybe instead of?) the spring training "news" reports that "xxx player had good batting sessions," give the player a generated sping training stat line with a batting average reflecting these "good batting sessions." Likewise, where the player "showed good pawer in bratting practice," generate a spring training stat line with good home run numbers. Everyone knows spring training statistics are usually meaningless and unreliable, but having them in ootp would make finalizing opening day rosters more interesting, realistic, and challening. 3. Also with regard to preseason, there should be some way to inorporate the possibility of players getting injured prior to opening day. In real baseball, players get hurt in spring training all the time and start the year on the DL. In OOTP, by the start of the year players are generally recovered from the past season's injuries and every team starts the season with a healthy roster, which is not realistic. 3. Fix the minors promotion/demotion logic so you don't have AI teams promoting and demoting the same two players every other day. This can be ignored, but it's annoying to see and dreadfully unrealistic. For example, this is from my current season (Monday 5/12 is indecision at its worst): Tuesday 5/6/2004 : Boof Bonser was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Clay Hensley was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Wednesday 5/7/2004 : Boof Bonser was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Clay Hensley was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Thursday 5/8/2004 : Boof Bonser was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Clay Hensley was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Friday 5/9/2004 : Boof Bonser was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Clay Hensley was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Saturday 5/10/2004 : Boof Bonser was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Clay Hensley was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Sunday 5/11/2004 : Boof Bonser was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Clay Hensley was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Monday 5/12/2004 : Boof Bonser was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Clay Hensley was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Boof Bonser was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Clay Hensley was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Tuesday 5/13/2004 : Boof Bonser was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Clay Hensley was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Wednesday 5/14/2004 : Boof Bonser was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Clay Hensley was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Thursday 5/15/2004 : Boof Bonser was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. Clay Hensley was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Friday 5/16/2004 : Boof Bonser was sent down from the active roster to AAA Fresno Grizzlies. Clay Hensley was promoted from AAA Fresno Grizzlies to the active roster. |

A few minor things that I would like to see added.
1. A page that lists the guys that have been voted into the most All Star games of alltime. 2. A page that tracks cycles(just like the No-Hitters page) 3. On the No-Hitters, 15K, 3 HR, 50 HR, and 20 Game Winners pages I would like to see a number in () reflecting how many times a given player has done this. Lesser ideas: 1. a one-hitter tracking page. 2. 8 RBI plus tracking page. 3. Franchise All-Time leaders page.
