I agree. Sometimes getting a Ruth, Aaron or Bonds at the end of their careers can be exciting, as you have no idea which players will replace them at the top of the home run list. Also, in my above post, I was talking about how OOTP recycles players in random debuts. Therefore, I figure if one was to delete a 38 year old Babe Ruth before he gets drafted and plays a game, I have to think he would reappear later.

That was a trick I figured out early on. If I wanted all the real players to come in with thier total carrer, I had to delete the first inagural draft players BEFORE there is a draft. They will all come back later in the game as rookies as they have not been used.
Then create a new inagural draft pool of fictional players. Fine...but then as the game goes along each draft after that will all be the real players, and they will all start at their first year available

Random Debut will only import players from the standard historical database. If you want players who never played in the minors without checking "Use Real Minor Leagues" you will have to import them as previously. Pointing the draft to the Minor League Database will not result in the entry of players who never played in the Majors in your draft pools.
