Looks like some weirdness happened with at least a couple players

Created a new historical league and noticed that both Bill Kay (1907, WS1), and Anthony Kay (2019-20, TOR) have a really odd error in their historical minor IDs. They're listed as "kay-At-001wal" and "kay-At-000ant" respectively. Might be worth giving a quick look to make sure that this error doesn't show up anywhere else.

Argh, looks like a typo from someone opening and saving the spreadsheet in the wrong compatibility mode. If those errors are there, there will be others too

George Knight is always a BEAST in historical sim random debut. He pitches 50 IP with like 1 hit every time.

Kerry Wood is nowhere to be found in 1999. He should either be on the DL or on the big league roster.

Well, not if you start the game in 1999. Which is just how the historical db works, and not a bug.

If you start in a previous year, he'll import in 98 (or in 95 if you use historical minors) and then be on the roster in 99. But if you start in 99, when he didn't play, he won't import until the next year where he did play, which is 2000.

Happened to notice the same error on Vance Law (1980-1991). Gave it a quick check and the same is happening to other players with the last name Law. On a hunch, I checked a few other players: Jimmy Key, Derrek Lee, and Jermaine Dye. All are affected. Looking further, Seung-Hwan Oh shows as "oh-AtAC0-000seu"

So it appears that anyone with a last name of 3 or fewer characters is affected.

From the early 60's until 1990, the Appalachian, Pioneer, and Gulf Coast Leagues import as short-season A level, B & C level leagues. In '91 they start importing as Rookie (D&E) leagues.

Baseball Reference lists them as Rookie level leagues for the earlier time period. I'm not sure if they're importing at the B&C level is intended rather than the D&E level. Thought I'd mention it.

I believe we're planning on reviewing league levels at some point this year, so you may see some changes in a patch. No promises but it's a possibility.

I create a fictional coach and he's added to the list as I see my list increased from 57 to 58. My problem is, how do I know which one the fictional coach is? Yes, I can see real coaches and players that I know, but the newly created one is hard to find. I know he's there, but which one is he?

"Disco Dan" Ford, "fordda01" has the wrong Facial Type, I believe. He imports as 'caucasian.'

Anytime I try to start a historical league, it does not put me on the team I select. I've tried the multiple times, selecting the Cleveland Indians for a 1999, 2000, and 2001 season and instead it puts me with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it seems that very old players are overpowered when attempting to import them into a 2020 league.

I'm attempting to create a small 8 team custom game in the year 2020 that contains players from a variety of eras. I'm attempting to set up the rosters by importing historical players in the transactions > free agents screen. I've tried this both through importing a single player as well as mass-importing them through a csv. Both methods work, but both produce the over-powered result. I've attached pictures of 1907 Dave Brain & 1879 Ed Cogswell (brainda01, 1907 | cogswed01, 1879). Both appear to be some of the greatest power hitters that ever lived. I've tried real stats, neutralized stats imports and keep getting these results.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I be setting up a league that contains players from different areas in a different manner?

Well, Dave Brain hit 10 HR's in a league that hit 140 HR's total, among all players. So by that measure, he probably was one of the top power hitters of all time

So I think this is just how the algorithm sees him.

Cogswell is a bit weirder. I can ask Markus to look into that next week.
