Lately, I've been having fun simming a season then creating some expansion teams and taking over one of them. So I probably will try that again.

That’s some laundry list. Good luck. I can’t see anybody taking Stanton unless it’s LAD or you attach a sweetener.

I'll be testing out the new 64 bit use of RAM by running an all-leagues playing test sim and letting it rip for ten, then 20 seasons to see how well it performs.

Once I see what happens, my interest in international play might increase, since right now those leagues look like weekend firemen versus police softball to me.

after my PT team is up & running I'll definitely be rebuilding the Giants for the millionth time.

But I'm particularly excited for this year's version because they are in a much, much better place than a couple years ago. Now there's just 1 bad year to get through, and then all the contracts expire and they'll have a huge budget to play with. It should be a fun challenge trying to compete in the best division in baseball.

You know I'm pretty sure I have sent Stanton to the Dodgers before so I wouldn't be surprised.

I will be importing my Rays save after I finish the 2031 season which should end around the 26th when the game comes out and continue to play that one out through the years.

With the new game, though, I will be GMing and managing the 2021 Rays as presently constituted and will be starting a thread in the dynasty forums for that one as well. This will only be for the 2021 season, however.

I've narrowed it down to:

Rockies
Pirates
Rangers
Phillies
Brewers
Angels

And that's in order of preference. Rockies should be fun overall and it'd be my first time with them if that is ultimately my choice. I will probably also check if I can finally succeed with the Pirates at some point; I've found Nutting to be the most frustrating owner to deal with overall and have had some very poor luck with them in past versions of the game.

Starting?

Making changes to Phillies that management ignores (adios, Jean Segura!). Creating the Hilton Head Loggerheads in the Atlantic League as a repository for my favorite over-the-hill, DFA, released former MLB players. Then I like to reimagine the Pirates with money and the Orioles with talent. The Braves and Cardinals not over performing each year. I like an organization with parity where the mighty have fallen and the clever small market teams have a chance to make the playoffs. Oh, and make sure the Wilmington Blue Rocks are loaded! Will we be able to resurrect the minor leagues and teams that were cruelly axed by MLB?? That too.

Yea. It always feels like the Dodgers budget is infinite.

Seems like many are going to try their hand at Colorado. A nice friendly competition to get them back to stardom. Also, it’ll be interesting to see what pitchers pan out in that ballpark.

Tough to say. I want to publish my progress on YouTube, so I have to keep an eye on who is already using which team there. In any case, I don't want it to be too easy. It's very likely that someone will use the Rockies, Texans, Pirates and Orioles. I'll probably look for a team that's about one level above them.

Rebuilding Teams:

Orioles - Rather too easy, their farm system is very deep, so eventually you'll get lucky with TCR.

Pirates - Nice total rock bottom team, very difficult.

Tigers - They can be sort of frustrating, the rebuild didn't really lead to a ton of talent, so you might need a second rebuild.

Royals - Probably the most fun of these, you have to decide how much to try to be competitive in that weak division while still trying to build the farm.

Marlins - Same as Orioles, this is a team nearing the end of the rebuild, you can turn them around fast.

Mariners - Same as Marlins and Orioles.

Other bad teams:

Rockies - Some great talent here, but a barren farm. Good for if you want to start a rebuild scorched earth style.

Rangers - I really don't know what to do with these guys, this is not a roster I'm familiar with beyond how awful they are.

Dbacks - Some good pieces to build around, a good challenge to try and retool before it falls apart.

Giants - Endless money to throw around is fun.

Other fun teams:

Rays - Managing the small payroll while still competitive is interesting.

Phillies - Can you build a viable bullpen?

Mets - Who needs defense?

I think your assessments are pretty much bang on for the most part.

And I definitely agree about the Royals. They look like the most fun team for me to start with, saving the more difficult rebuilds until any kinks in the game are worked out by the developers.

The interesting thing is what constitutes a 'weak division'. The Twins and White Sox look pretty good to me on paper. The Twins are older but they have a pretty deep farm system. The White Sox aren't quite as deep on the farm, mostly because so many good young players are now on the MLB roster. I think both teams could be very solid for several seasons.

Cleveland looks like they are starting to fade, but they keep developing some great pitching. And as with you, I'm not sure about Detroit's rebuild. The pitching prospects are there - how will they fare? And what about the hitters aside from the kid they drafted last year? Where will they come from?

Some other teams that may be interesting that I haven't seen mentioned yet are the Reds, Cubs, and Phillies.

The Reds are a small market team trying to get back on track. A lot of decisions that can be made about players on their current roster - guys like Suarez, Gray, and Castillo were all in trade rumors this offseason. Some big contracts that will be tough to dump in Moustakas or Castellanos. Farm system is quite thin as well for a team that hasn't been all that good in a while.

The Cubs are either right on the verge of a rebuilding period or you could try to extend their current core and keep pushing for win-now. The trio of Baez, Bryant, and Rizzo are all due to become free agents after year 1, and a bad start to the year could lead to trades and a questionable future. They'll have a ton of money though. There are a lot of different paths that can be taken with this team.

The Phillies are in win-now mode, but are probably not good enough to be in win-now mode. They may be the the fourth-best team in the division, and while I don't think the Marlins are quite there yet, they should be soon. The big contracts of Harper and Realmuto are also the big barriers to a rebuild. There are some good secondary pieces in Hoskins/Bohm, and Nola is an ace, but gaps need to be filled in around them, especially in the bullpen, but with potentially not a lot of money to do it, considering the big contracts.

Do you want that team to suck? Because that's a great way to make that happen.

I already started a new fictional 60 team league for OOTP22 with the 30 MLB teams in one Conference and 30 International teams in the other. I simmed 118 years starting in 1902 and then used a random number generator on Google between 1-60 to see who I would manage and I got Tokyo. They only won 1 title in 1980 and haven't been to the playoffs in 13 years, but they have budget space to work with.

Hopefully it imports smooth. Can't wait to see the new MLB stadiums, I may hand build the International ones with the new editor.

Did you tie the two leagues together as an association? I like the idea!
