Oh, see. I've never heard any of these announcements you guys are talking about home or away. Sound simply isn't working properly for me.

The home fan reactions to plays (both good and bad) are there in 21 and they're actually improved and happen more consistently than in 20. I did find that I needed to turn them up to hear them properly though. You can do that in the pregame options menu here by adjusting the Ambient Volume.

The odd thing I have noticed about sound in the current and previous years' versions of OOTP is that after playing out a game, with the sound working just fine, when I go to a game the next day, the sound is not working properly. There might be, for example, some general ambient crowd noise, but no action-specific crowd reaction and no big noise with a home team home run. Then the next day, the sound might be gone completely. So I quit the game and restart, then the sound returns.

I haven't tried checking the sound settings in the pre-game screen, so I'll check those next time this happens.

that could be something specific to your machine. You could try toggling the sound from the in game screen from enable to disable, start the game, then go back to the options page and enable sound again to see if that fixes it.

I love the "crack of the bat" sounds. Unfortunately, they don't match the flight of the baseball as they usually end up as lazy flyballs or routine grounders.

Thanks for this, but I've tried all of those tweaks, fixes, adjustments, etc. Those sounds do not appear for me. I'd love to hear them, but for now, it's just back to OOTP 20 for me.

Can you enable the trace mode, play through a game, and send me the trace file? In there, we detail all the sound loading and playing, so that may hint at what is happening.

I don't know what trace mode is but I'll try to figure it out this weekend. Thanks!

It's a typical situation for most games about big sports. Fortunately, many good people make mods, including those with sound improvements. I honestly tried to make something like that and even managed to make cool crowd sounds during hits and goals. I wanted to make even more, but my enthusiasm went down after discovering the big pack of sounds on one of the forums. However, the passion for making background sounds for other games is still with me, so I frequently use https://depositphotos.com/music.html services for such purposes. I've found there many practical sound effects, which helped me improve the general quality of sounds.

I have noticed the lack of crowd too. I will get very few outright cheers. And when something big happens, like a double is hit with a run scoring, the crowd will swell and get fairly loud and then just die down.

Mine has worked fine. Sometimes the crowd gets way too loud that I have to turn the sound down. It might be that he had NOT created a home stadium folder.

To do this, click on team settings box and edit ballpark

Once in ballpark settings open sounds

Under sounds if your home ballpark folder is not setup click on box to set it up. THEN under that you can do a lot of fun things.

I have created things for the Twins like Wally the Beer man yelling in the back ground, did different homerun sounds. If your home team pitcher gets out of a jam the crowd will cheer but you NEED your home stadium to have sounds.

This is probably the issue because sounds are, I dunno? More stadium specific?

Now I dont make sound folders for all stadiums and if I am NOT at my home stadium the sounds are pretty basic.

I am in spring training with the Royals and have pretty basic sounds. Is the "Spring Ballpark" basic sounds? Or should I be hearing the same amount of sounds that would be at Kauffman Stadium?

I went into my sounds folder and found that I am not hearing about three quarters of my sounds file.

Is this because spring training is basic? Should I be hearing rallies and more things at "home" in spring training?

Spring Park is basic. Unless you make an actual folder for it, which I don't know why you would. Spring Park is neither a home or away park because its just generic. That's why I was hoping that in 2021 they would allow you to pick the home spring training parks of your teams and then set them up and then we could actually play in some of these amazing parks that have been created by the users.

Thanks, twins_34.

I had a feeling that was it. I went thru a bunch of my sound files and was like "Wow! There's a bunch of these I am not hearing."

Thanks for clarifying!

I wasn't hearing some of the sounds very well in the beginning, especially vendors etc.. I tinkered with the IN GAME controls raising ambient sound level etc.. experimented and now it sounds great!.. I had some too low, some too high.. might want to give that a try... Now if I can only get crowd animation to work.. that is bugging me.. updated drivers still no go.. any thoughts?
