ROTM: SP Sam Shoemaker (SF) - 4-0 (6 GS, 39.2 IP), 2.72 ERA, 38K

Notes: 7/12 - Clam Chowder MGR Josh Papelbon bans poker from the clubhouse, leaving San Francisco players disgruntled with management.
7/14 - SF outfielder Joey Gallo has his season come to an end with a broken ankle. His power will be sorely missed from the lineup.
7/15 - Michael Rothenberg, Deep Dish catcher, is considered the smartest player in baseball??
7/20 - Johnathan Alleman's 2025 campaign is derailed by a herniated disc. He will be out two months.

With a steep distance between the top four teams in this season, the only competition in the Farmer's League will have to focus on the current 8 team race for the second wild card spot. Out of these teams, Portland holds the best post All-Star record at 20-16, while Washington bears the worst record at 11-25. It'll definitely be interesting to see which team wins the second wild card in these next two months. I'm rooting for Tokyo and Lindor to make it.

ROTM: CF Leudy Pena (PHO) - .297, 6 HR 17 RBI

Notes: Nothing major in the news for the BL, which is a perfect time to break down a few interesting trades that happened before the deadline.

New York recieves: 3* OVR SP Scott Moss, 2.5* POT RP Edgardo Henriquez
Atlanta recieves: 4* RF Heliot Ramos

New York's decision to make this trade is confounding. Their outfield (particulary RF) is deep with talent, but the talent they have is in their 30s. Scott Moss will be a quality contributor, but he's also 30, and not someone I'd give away a 25 y/o for. Ramos hits arbitration this offseason, so the Sprite were probably looking to clear up payroll, I guess.

Chicago Kremes recieve: 3* OVR SP Freddy Tarnok, 5th round pick
San Antonio recieves: 3* OVR 1B Willie Rodriguez, minor league prospect

The Kremes add a quality arm to their stable while dumping off an underperforming 39 year old first baseman.

San Francisco recieve: 2.5* OVR RF Nomar Mazara
Chicago Kremes recieve: 3* OVR RP Johnathan Losiaga, MiL Prospect

An even trade. The Clam Chowder find a stopgap for the injuries dealt to their star outfielders while the Kremes have another good pitcher to put into their bullpen.

Old guard Kentucky against new chapter Chicago for BL home field is something I'm looking forward to in the next couple of months. Blizzards fans are cautiously optimistic that their team will end their 6 year playoff drought.

ROTM: SP Mitchell Stone (SA) - 3-1 (5 GS, 30.1 IP), 2.97 ERA, 23K

The Clam Chowder clinch the West with a whole month of baseball left, while the Peach Pie are a week away from clinching. The Soju are just a week behind Atlanta in terms of clinching. Which leaves us to talk about the wild card race. Pawtucket is only 4 games above any team that could knock them out of the playoffs, yet I'm not certain that they can be cemented for the first wild card.

Here's how the pennant chase sees the WC race:
Pawtucket 80%
Washington 41.3%
Athens 29.6%
San Antonio 25.4%
Portland 21.5%
Milwaukee 0.6%
Chicago 1%

I fail to see how or why Washington deserves a 10 point lead over the next closest team. A one game lead here means nothing. Portland's remaining schedule is the juiciest of all the outsiders, with 14 home games and 9 away- and key games against every WC contender sans Milwaukee and Chicago (not like they had a chance this September anyway.)

POTM: SP Brock Burke (CHA) - 4-0 (6 GS, 35.1 IP), 2.29 ERA, 43 K
ROTM: CF Leudy Pena (PHO) - .284, 4 HR 18 RBI

Notes: 8/20 - Drew Mendoza of Kentucky blasts 3 Sun Chips pitches out of the park.
8/27 - Sprite outfielder Adam Sankey is having troubles with management, asks for trade.
8/30 - The FBA's superior middle reliever, Edwin Diaz, asks for a trade by the Crunchwrap Supremes, showing how bad the chemistry is there.

The teams to make the playoffs in the BL seem mostly set, as the 2nd place teams of the East or Central divisions will earn a chance at championship glory.

Kentucky 98.4%
Minneapolis 78.8%
Dallas 38.4%
Oklahoma City 0.4%

There are healthier options at the ballpark. It is Portland, after all. All those doughnuts you've stuffed down the gullet are gonna make you feel funny after the next update though

Athens' beats up on Int'l Division weaklings Rome and Tokyo to claim home advantage in the Wild Card game. Meanwhile, Portland swept Washington early in the month, but lost series' against Seoul, Pawtucket, and an indefensible Tokyo defeat to fall way out of the second Wild Card.

Washington's Brayan Rocchio lead the FL in Batting Average this year (.318)

His fellow Burger Rafael Devers hit 41 HRs to win the HR crown. Even more of a head scratcher, Emerson Hancock led the League in ERA and ERA+, if that means anything. Washington might be close to building a contender.

It was a tough month for the donut team of Chicago. The Kremes enjoyed the idea of a playoff spot that they became complacent, getting swept by Dallas, Oklahoma City, and the lowly Las Vegas. Pundits add it up to the serious lack of leadership in a club house that has no leaders or captain personalities in it. Either way, the Kremes have hope for next season, and a goal to reach in the offseason.

Jairo Pomares won the batting crown with a .348 avg. 26 year-old Aaron Sabato of the Krazy Bread led the league with 50 HRs and 153 RBI- if Mike Trout leaves this offseason, Vegas fans have hope in their young core. Nate Wohlgemuth of Fried Chicken fame got the Pitching Triple Crown, and Menchaca wasn't the lights out starter he was in the spring, so there will be some debate between who is the better between the two. WAR fans will swear that Menchaca is still deserving (6.9 WAR to 6.3) and Menchaca also has a good lead in FIP, but the traditional stats and ERA+ favor Wohlgemuth. Much to think about on the ballot this season....

Wild Card Game Recaps:

Pawtucket Lobster @ Athens Gyros
Blake Snell 12-8, 3.75 ERA vs. Ted Willard 9-11, 4.69 ERA

Willard and Snell both have solid outings, but Athens' can't take advantage of their chances here. Pete Alonso and Matt Chapman belt solo homers for the Lobster to silence the GEEEEEEEEE-ROS! calls around the stadium.

FINAL: 2-0, Lobster
WP: Snell LP: Willard
POTG: Blake Snell

Dallas Blizzards @ Hershey Kisses
Zack Thompson 9-7, 4.10 ERA vs. Isaiah Campbell 11-5, 4.38 ERA

The Kisses clobbered Zack Thompson early, forcing Manager Mike Walker to yank him after a 5 run inning in the 3rd. However, a Blizzards bullpen that was 3rd in ERA this season ensured that no other runs would score and the Blizzards bats chipped away at the lead, hitting 5 home runs in the process (for some reason I can't access the game log on this, #SAD!) culminating in a 4 run 9th inning rally that will make Kisses closer Scott Hooks a pariah until he can redeem himself in.... April?

Blizzards 3B and leadoff hitter Anderson Alexander Tejeda hit 2 homers and went 3 for 4 to claim POTG status. It's worth noting that David Dahl also hit 2 homers as well.

FINAL: 8-5, Blizzards
WP: Ryan Pinkert LP: Scott Hooks
POTG: Anderson Alexander Tejeda

2025 - Division Series (1/4)

San Francisco Clam Chowder (106-56) vs. Pawtucket Lobster (83-79
Season Record: 9-6, San Francisco

Game 1: Pawtucket @ at SF
Johnathan Alleman tosses a 4 hitter over 6 2/3 innings (With 11 Ks, I might add) and the Chowder bullpen don't allow anyone else on base to secure the win.
FINAL: 7-0, San Francisco
WP: Alleman LP: Mason Montgomery
POTG: Alleman

Game 2: Paw@SF
Young Chowder slinger Nate Savino tries to one up Alleman, shuts out the Lobster over 7 innings with 13Ks and only one hit allowed. He sets the FL playoff game record with 13 Ks.

FINAL: 4-0, San Francisco
WP: Savino LP: Chris Paddack
POTG: Savino

Game 3: SF@Paw
Starters Blake Snell and Jose Berrios both got yanked in the 5th after allowing a combined 11 runs. Aaron Judge and Pete Alonso crack homers early off of Berrios, but the Clam Chowder bats cancel those runs out. It was truly a team effort on the Chowder side, as the relief coalition only surrendered one run over the next 4 innings, and All-Star 2B Livan Soto claimed the POTG crown, going 4 for 5 with 2 runs.

FINAL: 9-6, SF
WP: Brooks Adams LP: Kyle Mora SV: Rico Garcia
POTG: Livan Soto

Series MVP: 3B Ke'bryan Hayes - 9 for 14, 4 RBI

2025 - Division Series (2/4)

Atlanta Peach Pie (99-64) vs. Seoul Soju (88-74)
Season Record: 11-4, Atlanta

Game 1: Seoul @ Atlanta
Soju SP Lucas Sims puts on a show, only allowing 1 run though six innings. He even outperformed the boisterous Frank Palozzolo. After the Soju evened things up to 1 in the 6th, Josh Hader saw the ghosts of his two sliders leave the park, one being killed off by Ronald Acuna Jr. in the 7th, and then a parting shot by 2B Jaden Mayfield in the middle of the 8th. Acuna also saved a run at home earlier in the game by gunning down Seoul leadoff hitter Sam Bianco.

FINAL: 4-2, Atlanta
WP: Kazumasa Numata LP: Josh Hader SV: Victor Torres
POTG: Frank Palazzolo

Game 2: Seoul @ Atlanta
Journeyman Caleb Webb started for the Soju, and gave up 7 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings on the way to getting the fat L in this game. Dane Dunning and the ATL pen made sure that the Soju wouldn't be climbing out of the hole Webb dug them in.

FINAL: 4-2, Atlanta
WP: Dunning LP: Webb SV: Robinson Pina
POTG: Dane Dunning

Game 3: Atlanta @ Seoul
Young CF Kristian Robinson went 3 for 3 with a key RBI double in the 1st to help the Seoul get a runaway victory at home.

FINAL: 7-4, Seoul
WP: Alex Amaro LP: Jesus Lozardo SV: Riley Ferrell
POTG: K. Robinson

Game 4: Atlanta @ Seoul
Peach Pie starter Chris Sale wasn't having a great day at the ballpark. Things were just looking up for him when the Atlanta offense took back all the runs Sale gave up in the top of the 4th, leading the game 4-3. Then Mookie Betts came to the plate in the next frame and kissed a Salespitch goodbye with his bat, sending it out of the ballpark and Sale to the showers with a 3 run shot. Did I mention that Mookie rocked his 2018 WS co-champion in the 1st inning with a two run homer?

Final: 8-5, Seoul.
WP: Cole Marcin LP: Sale SV: Ferrell
POTG: Betts

Game 5: Seoul @ Atlanta
The Soju fought hard to get back to Atlanta, then starter Lucas Sims laid a huge egg in the 1st inning. LF Heston Kjerstad tried to rally the team to the LCS in the 8th inning, but the 4 run rally fell short of the the runs Lucas gave up in the first.

FINAL: 7-5, Atlanta
WP: Numasa LP: Sims SV: Pina
POTG: Kjerstad

Series MVP: 2B Jaden Mayfield, 5 for 18, 2HR 5 RBI

2025 - Division Series (3/4)

Kentucky Fried Chicken (93-69) vs. Dallas Blizzards (87-75)
Season Record: 10-5, Kentucky

Game 1: Dallas @ Kentucky

Fried Chicken ace Nate Wohlgemuth doesn't have as many spices in his recipe as the Colonel, but the 24 year old righty's 3 spice mix got him 7 shutout innings of baseball, only allowing two hits while striking out 13.

Final: 3-1, Kentucky
WP: Wohlgemuth LP: Drew Strotman SV: Jackson Phipps
POTG: Wohlgemuth

Game 2: Dallas @ Kentucky

Minor league callup Juan Pie singlehandedly sent off Blizzard starter Cionel Perez, blasting a pair of two run homers in the 1st and 3rd innings, respectively. Pie also got on base two more times to score another pair of runs during the game. Not bad for a cup of coffee! The Blizzards rallied in the 9th thanks to a Grand Slam by Jose Garcia and a solo shot by David Dahl, but fell 2 runs short of tying the game.

FINAL: 10-8, Kentucky
WP: T.J. Maag LP: Perez
POTG: Pie

Game 3: Kentucky @ Dallas

In a must-win game at a packed stadium, the Blizzards bats stayed silent and Zack Thompson and the Blizzards bullpen could only stifle the team for so long. Carlos Miguel Vargas, the Kentucky starter, struck out 8 while only allowing 3 hits and 1 run.

FINAL: 6-1, Kentucky
WP: Vargas LP: Thompson
POTG: Vargas

Series MVP: 3B Gunnar Henderson, 5 for 11, 4 RBI

2025 - Division Series (4/4)

Denver Coors (81-81) vs. Minneapolis Butterburgers (89-73)
Season Record: 10-5, Minneapolis

Game 1: Denver @ Minneapolis

Butterburgers bullpen ruins a perfectly good start by Jared Southard. The man who took advantage of this terrible bullpen outing was DH Khalil Lee, who smacked a two run triple and a solo homer to take Player of the Game honors.

FINAL: 10-4, Denver
WP: Gerrit Cole LP: Jaime Barria
POTG: Lee

Game 2: Denver @ Minneapolis

Minneapolis fans experienced a bit of Groundhog Day syndrome at the ballpark, as Yoan Aybar held the Coors to one run through 5 innings. But going into the 7th with a 5-1 lead is not enough insurance with the Butterburger bullpen. Pinch hitter Josh Bell helped break open the game with a 3 run homer off RP Sib de Graaf, and just like that, the start of a 6 run rally began for the Coors.

FINAL: 8-5, Denver
WP: David Johnson LP: De Graaf SV: Nick Karounos
POTG: Bell

Game 3: Minneapolis @ Denver

Instead of giving Minny fans hope, Denver decided to snuff the 2-0 series comeback storylines early, shelling Butterburgers starter Aaron Nola with 9 hits and 6 runs in barely 2 innings. The pillaging of the Butterburgers defense was a group effort, but Malcolm Nunez went 3 for 4 with a couple RBI to become the Player of the Game.

FINAL: 8-2, Denver
WP: Elvis Luciano LP: Nola
POTG: Nunez

Series MVP: 3B Leonel Valera, 5 for 14, 1 HR 6 RBI

BLCS
Kentucky Fried Chicken (93-79) vs. Denver Coors (81-81)
Season Record: 8-7, Kentucky

FLCS
Atlanta Peach Pie (99-63) vs. San Francisco (106-56)
Season Record: 8-7, Atlanta

None of the teams in the LCS round will be making history. In fact, all of these teams have won a Championship before, making this the first time in FBA history someone will be a repeat champion.

Game 1: Denver @ Kentucky
Gerrit Cole (3-4, 4.46 ERA) vs. Nate Wohlgemuth (18-6, 3.18 ERA)

The Fried Chicken get ahead early with 4 runs in their first 2 frames as Wohlgemuth holds the Coors to 2 runs over 7 innings. The Coors might have left Gerrit Cole in too late, as he went into the 7th and gave up a 2-run homer, and the third one he gave up tonight

Final: 7-2, Kentucky
WP: Wohlgemuth LP: Cole
POTG: Wohlgemuth

Game 1: Atlanta @ San Francisco
Dane Dunning (10-6, 4.37 ERA) vs. Jonathan Alleman (11-5, 2.87 ERA)

Both starters kept the game relatively quiet until the 6th, when Dunning allowed a pair of runs to score. A couple of frames later, the Peach Pie rallied to knot up the game behind Ronald Acuna’s 2 run single. The game went into the 10th, where Heliot Ramos rushed to home plate from second base off a Nolan Arenado single to get the winning run.

Final: 4-3, Atlanta
WP: Robinson Pina LP: Brooks Adams
POTG: Alleman

Game 2: Denver @ Kentucky
Zach Willeman (10-6, 4.78 ERA) vs. T.J. Maag (14-9, 4.34 ERA)

After Gunnar Henderson knocked a 3-run homer in the 2nd, the Coors fought back valiantly. They only came up with 2 runs against T.J. Maag, but that was enough to get them within 1 run in the lead. Jarred Kelenic tied up the score with a solo homer in the top of the 8th, which was then canceled out by a Leadoff solo homer by a returning-from-injury Corey Seager in the next frame. 2B Christian Cairo evened things back for the Coors with a solo homer right after, prompting Fried Chicken OF Hunter Bishop to single in the walkoff run.

WP: Jackson Phipps LP: Nick Karounos
POTG: Henderson

Game 2: Atlanta@ SF
Jesus Luzardo (10-6, 5.16) vs. Nate Savino (16-9, 3.44 ERA0

Another closely fought game in the LCS, as Enrique Bradfield made good on two RBI opportunities; in the 7th with the Chowder trailing 3-2, he hit a triple to tie the game up. Then in the 9th, he singled to bring the walkoff run home.

Final: 4-3, San Francisco
WP: Rico Garcia LP: Robinson Pina
POTG: Bradfield

The Championship Series' head to Denver and Atlanta, respectively. When we left off, Atlanta took one from the favorites in San Francisco, while Denver finds themselves in a 2-0 hole against the Fried Chicken.

Game 3: KY@Den
Carlos Miguel Vargas (9-5, 5 SV, 2.90 ERA) vs. Elvis Luciano (4-10, 5.68 ERA)

The Coors take one at home, thanks to stellar defense and luck. Eloy Jimenez scored the deciding runs of the game when he hit a 2 run homer off Vargas.

Final: 4-2, Denver
WP: Luciano LP: Vargas SV: Nick Karounos
POTG: Luciano

Game 3: SF@Atl
Jose Berrios (14-4, 3.33 ERA) vs. Frank Palozzolo (12-3, 2.32 ERA)

As bats on both sides continue to be relatively quiet (5 of San Francisco's positional starters are batting below the Mendoza line in this playoffs, while 3 starters on Atlanta are hitting below said number.) This hasnt stopped runs from scoring, as we left the 1st inning tied at 2. The starters on both sides were competent enough to reach the 6th inning with quality starts intact, but San Francisco created more chances to score for themselves, and took advantage of those chances.

Final: 5-3, San Francisco
WP: Berrios LP: Palozzolo SV: Tom Dewberry
POTG: Berrios

Game 4: KY@Den
Jax Hendez (8-6, 5.74 ERA) vs. David Johnson (10-9, 1 SV, 6.30 ERA)

The battle of the backend starters ended in a unanimous win for David Johnson, as he pitched 7 innings of shutout ball, only allowing 2 hits. He left the game after the 7th with a 2 run lead intact, and even though the Fried Chicken did their darndest to try and knock MR Colin Poche out of the game, Denver came away with the win.

Final: 3-2, Denver
WP: Johnson LP: Hendez SV: Poche
POTG: Johnson

Game 4: SF@Atl
Trevor Bauer (5-5, 6.67 ERA) vs. Chris Sale (10-8, 5.04 ERA)

With the least productive starters of both teams on the mound, blood was drawn fast, and early. Nolan Arenado and Ronald Acuna hit 3 run homers in consecutive innings, getting Trevor Bauer yanked early in the 3rd inning. Arenado and Jaden Mayfield continued the offensive onslaught later in the game, hitting a couple solo homers.

Final: 10-3
WP: Sale LP: Bauer
POTG: Arenado

Game 5: KY@Den
Gerrit Cole (3-4, 4.46 ERA) vs. Nate Wohlgemuth (18-6, 3.18 ERA)

Denver finds some momentum before the series breaks for the final chapter in Kentucky, ripping Nate Wohlgemuth for 7 runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched, and most of it off homers. One was to Jarred Kelenic, who hit a 2 run homer in the 3rd to make the score 3-0, a Victor Robles solo shot in the next inning, and then after the Fried Chicken knotted it up with a big 4 run inning in the 6th, Salvador Perez hit a 3 run homer to nullify the runs from the previous frame.

Final: 10-4, Denver
WP: Cole LP: Wohlgemuth SV: Karounos
POTG: Kelenic

Game 5: SF@Atl
Dane Dunning (10-6, 4.37 ERA) vs. Jonathan Alleman (11-5, 2.87 ERA)

The Peach Pie brought out the Hit Parade in the first inning, ensuring that POTY candidate Johnathan Alleman would not last the 1st inning. The Peach on top of the Pie was Nick Senzel hitting a grand slam to send Alleman to the showers.

Final: 12-3, Atlanta
WP: Blayne Enlow LP: Alleman
POTG: Senzel

The underdogs get back on the road with leads in the series. Will Kentucky or Atlanta recover WS bids at home?

Game 6: Den@KY

Willeman vs. Maag

The Coors led the game 4-2 heading into the 8th, but Corey Seager hit a two run homer and Drew Mendoza added to his rbi tally after hitting an HR earlier in the game with a walkoff single.

FINAL: 5-4, Kentucky
WP: Andres Munoz LP: Christian Poche
POTG: Mendoza

Game 6: Atl @ SF
Luzardo vs. Savino

Savino injuring himself forced the Clam Chowder into a bullpen game, with amazing results. The Chowder surrendered 5 hits and shut out the Peach Pie by committee, and the batting corps made sure to knock out Jesus Luzardo out of the game early. SF Shortstop Chris Taylor drove in 4 runs to claim POTG honors.

Final: 14-0
WP: Brooks Adams LP: Luzardo
POTG: Taylor

Game 7: Den @ KY
Luciano vs. Vargas

Yet another game where the Coors led 4-2 in the late innings. This time, Gunnar Henderson smashed the 2 run homer to tie it up, but the Coors kept the game alive this time, and after striking out 5 times tonight, Malcolm Nunez hit a go-ahead single to send the Coors back to the Series a la carte for a second consecutive season.

FINAL
: 5-4, Denver
WP: David Johnson LP: Jax Hendez
POTG: Henderson

Game 7: Atl @ SF
Palozzolo vs. Berrios

Filthy Frank kept Clam Chowder bats quiet thru 5 to claim POTG awards. A few RBI singles put the Peach Pie through to the next round.

FINAL: 3-2
WP: Palozzolo LP: Berrios SV: Victor Torres
POTG: Palozzolo

World Series Recap

Game 1: Den @ Atl
Gerrit Cole vs. Dane Dunning

Dane Dunning threw 6 innings of 1-run ball in his first World Series start, protecting a tight lead from the clutch bats in the Coors lineup, and the Peach Pie pen avoid a scare to start the Series optimistic with a win.

Final: 4-3, Atlanta
WP: Mason Feole LP: Tyler Glasnow SV: Robinson Pina
POTG: Dunning

Game 2: Den @ Atl
Zach Willeman vs. Chris Sale

This time it's Willeman who locks into 5 innings of 1 run ball, and Chris Sale continues to have bad luck this postseason, getting yammed on by a Jarred Kelenic solo homer and a Christian Cairo 2-RBI single. He was yanked after the 3rd inning.

FINAL: 7-4, Denver
WP: Willeman LP: Sale
POTG: Willeman

Game 3: Atl @ Den
Frank Palazzolo vs. Elvis Luciano

After a quiet first 3 frames, the Coors bats got loud on Filthy Frank, knocking him around with a Victor Robles 3-run homer and a Matt Knouse RBI single. Jarred Kelenic scores 3 runs and has a homer on the day to claim POTG

Final: 7-1, Denver
WP: Luciano LP: Palazzolo
POTG: Kelenic

Game 4: Atl @ Den
Jesus Luzardo vs. David Johnson

A little bit of back and forth in this game, with Atlanta taking the lead in the 2nd, only to have to climb out of a hole after Luzardo surrendered 5 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings off HRs from Matt Knouse and Vic Robles. But Atlanta managed to take back the lead in the 7th, only to lose off a walk off ribby by pinch-hitter Josh Shuler. Knouse went 4-5 with a HR and 3 RBI to claim the honors.

Final: 7-6, Denver
WP: Nick Karounos LP: Victor Torres
POTG: Knouse

Game 5: Atl @ Den
Dane Dunning vs. Gerrit Cole

On the cusp of becoming the first back to back FBA champs, the Coors took the lead in the 3rd and never looked back, and survived late inning rallies from ATL DH Matt Thaiss (3-3, 2R HR) to claim the 2025 title. Malcolm Nunez and Edgar Escobar started a brawl mid game and got ejectedm, just had to put that one in there

A shocking turn of events for a team that went from 99 wins the previous year to a paltry 81, but this team was obviously built to survive the postseason, not excel in the regular season.

FINAL: 5-4, Denver
WP: Cole LP: Dunning SV: Poche
POTG: Thaiss

WS MVP: Jarred Kelenic (9-18, 2 HR 5 RBI)

2025 FL Awards Recap

Now that the showers have been hit for the last time this season, it's time to reveal the award winners!

Farmer's League

MVP
3B Rafael Devers (WAS) .300/.372/.558, 41 HR 88 RBI, 137 wRC+, 5.3 WAR

Devers led voting in this category by a slim margin over the next candidate, Seoul LF Hjeston Kjerstad. First place votes were scattered among the pool, as 5 other players claimed them in their respective MVP campaigns.

POTY
Emerson Hancock (WAS) 12-7, 3.06 ERA, 229K, .231 oBA, 5.4 WAR

The POTY award wasn't nearly as divisive as the MVP award for the Farmer's League. Hancock beat out budding aces Nate Savino (SF) and Cole Winn (POR) as well as a great, but injury shortened season from Frank Palozzolo (ATL). It'll definitely be interesting to see which of the young arms will dominate the league for the next 5 seasons.

ROTY
1B John Malcom (TKY) .268/.318/.488, 30 HR 83 RBI, 110 wRC+, 2.0 WAR

Manager of the Year:
Josh Papelbon (SF) 106-56, LCS appearance

RPOTY
MR Rico Garcia (SF) 9-3 1 SV, 1.65 ERA, 111K in 81.2 IP (12.2 K9) 3.0 WAR

Platinum Stick
P Shane Baz (TKY) .255/.269/.392, 1 HR, -0.2 WAR
C Bo Naylor (SEO) .275/.381/.449, 19 HR, 123 wRC+, 3.9 WAR
1B Pete Alonso (PAW) .274/.364/.513 38 HR, 132 wRC+, 2.1 WAR
2B Jaden Mayfield (ATL) .254/.373/.460, 26 HR, 122 wRC+, 4.0 WAR
3B Rafael Devers (WAS) .300/.372/.558, 41 HR, 137 wRC+, 5.3 WAR
SS Francisco Lindor (TKY) .301/.352/.520, 35 HR, 126 wRC+, 6.2 WAR
LF Thu Hung (PAW) .296/.377/.519 30 HR, 139 wRC+, 4.8 WAR

BL 2025 Awards Recap

MVP
CF Jairo Pomares (MIN) .348/.430/.549, 24 HR 108 RBI, 153 wRC+, 6.5 WAR

Since his debut last year, Jairo has been an impact player for the Butterburgers. His jump from Rookie of the Year (and 2nd place in MVP voting) last season to MVP just shows how much more he might improve in the next few years. He was a unanimous MVP in a season that featured Bryce Harper having a 171 wRC+ season, and premier RF Jarred Kelenic trailing not too far behind.

POTY
Nate Wohlgemuth (KY) 18-6, 3.18 ERA, 300K, .200 oBA, 6.3 WAR

Although the numbers looked close on paper, the voting margins between Luis Menchaca and Wohlgemuth were less a crack in the pavement and more a chasm in the canyon. A two way player, Wohlgemuth also batted .292 with 14 RBI in his campaign for the Fried Chicken.

ROTY
1B Grant Lavigne (HRS) .266/.373/.458, 22 HR 86 RBI, 116 wRC+, 3.1 WAR

Manager of the Year
John Burkett (DEN) 81-81, Association Champs

RPOTY
CL Ian Soreni (DAL) 6-6, 34 SV, 2.52 ERA, 117 K, .201 oBA, 1.9 WAR

Platinum Stick
C Danny Jansen (HRS) .303/.391/.449, 12 HR, 122 wRC+, 3.8 WAR
1B Aaron Sabato (LV) .266/.341/.553, 50 HR, 153 RBI, 130 wRC+, 5.0 WAR
2B Luke Leto (ChiB) .286/.394/.432, 15 HR, 115 wRC+, 4.6 WAR

What's up gamers, sorry for the hiatus between posts. I took up a job this month and have been (gasp!) playing other games. I beat Mirror's Edge a while back (highly recommend) and have been working on a Borderlands 2 playthrough. I also started up a little football league that happens in this universe thanks to Draft Day Sports: Pro Football! lol

i'll get started on the 2026 season writeups soon.

2026 Offseason Recap

Top 5 Biggest Signings:
SS Ronny Mauricio (ATL to PHX) 5yr 42.9m
Unofficially billed as Trea Turner’s replacement on the Sun Chips after Mr. Turner departed for the Stouts this offseason. An excellent piece for the infield, as well as a great contact hitter. Regressed slightly last season after putting up a career year in Atlanta.

1B Nick Senzel (ATL to MIL) 7y, 47.6m
Solid everyday first baseman who has been a consistent 3 wins above replacement during his time in the league. A solid gap hitter and defensive first baseman, Senzel adds some much needed stability to the Stouts lineup.

LF Taylor Trammell (MIN to ChiB) 7y, 87.7m
After spending 7 years with the ButterBurgers, Trammell decided there was more of America he wanted to see. So he took the I-94 to the I-90 and found himself in Chicago, no less. Trammell’s signing gives Chicago a premier outfielder who has won the Platinum Stick 3 years in a row at his position. He’ll be a worry for BL Central pitchers at the plate and on the basepaths.

SP Jack Flaherty (MIL to DAL) 7y, 42.4m
After resigning young star Alejandro Pie, the next thing on GM Drew Anderson’s list was securing some solid starting pitching. Flaherty’s FBA career hasn’t been very notable, but at his talent level he projects as the Blizzards opening day starter.

SS Brayan Rocchio (WAS to SD) 8y, 118.4m
After a spectacular contract season, Rocchio got rewarded with a fat contract from the McNuggets. He won the FL batting title last season and will continue to get on base, but critics aren’t sure if he’s worth the 9 figure contract.

Most Improved: Chicago (BL)
Kremes improved the most in the offseason, grabbing fresh BL Reliever of the Year Ian Soreni and Platinum Stick winner Taylor Trammell from their division rivals. The additions of everyday RF Josh Gatchel and some leaders called in to help turn the Chicago clubhouse into a winning atmosphere could mean that the Butterball League’s Chicago side could realize their playoff dreams this year.

The “I’m Still Not Over Him” Offseason Award (Least Improved): Atlanta
Despite the Peach Pie’s loss of two stars, they could very well still reach the playoffs with the roster they have right now. But instead of fighting for home field advantage, they will be clawing at a wild card spot. Nick Senzel and Ronny Mauricio’s departures leave gaping holes in an offense that averaged 5 runs a game last season.

2026 Preseason Predictions

As Atlanta falls, the Deep Dish rise to take their place. San Francisco might see their reign over the division fall to the Churros. Seoul looks to grind their way to another division title.

In the BL, New York and Oklahoma City look to redeem themselves and reclaim their respective division titles, while Denver has to worry about Las Vegas and its young bats (particularly Aaron Sabato's projected 60 homer season) ruining their chances at a threepeat.

Rome and Portland lead their respective divisions thanks to a hot start in different phases of the game: Rome with their defense (#1 in Runs Against, #2 in Defensive Eff, ZR, and Errors) and Portland with their offense (2nd in HR, Runs Scored, #3 in Batting Average). San Francisco will have trouble recreating their 106 win season as ace Nate Savino goes down with a UCL tear.

The question must be asked: are we seeing the Krazy Bread corps blossom before our eyes? With Aaron Sabato (whose power broke the 50 HR plane in the FBA for the first time in 5 years last year), ace leadoff hitter Tristan Hanoian, and Nolan Gorman looking fully formed, Las Vegas has scared outfields and pitchers around the BL, leading the league in runs scored and HRs. Could Mike Trout finally make a playoff series in the FBA with the help of his young bats?

Some other interesting items: Jairo Pomares vs. Taylor Trammell - Taylor is having the better season so far with his new team, but the Butterburgers lead the division. Kentucky continues to be the league Death Star, and the Cheetos are off to a horrid start after losing their franchise shortstop in Andres Giminez.

Power Rankings as of 4/27
