Do you use associations?

Too bad to hear about your GM experience. I am in a similar process, building a North American universe based on regions, in which I am a GM. Do you GM/Manage or just GM? Through several seasons my main GM play has been hiring/firing, signing/extending and, if I take over rosters, setting lineups. And having the owner yell at me. Don't know how much of that I can do though. With that said, this year I won a title after a 4 year hunt, but it didn't seem to take any wizardry on my part. The team won the last 10 in a row (for some reason that had little to do with me) to turn a sub-500 season into a playoff finish, then had an excellent series. I don't know how I can beat that experience as a manager - I mean, the drama of that story. But again, nothing much seemed to have to do with me.

No I don't do anything fancy like associations or pro/rel leagues. I barely know what an association is lol. The fanciest I get is adding the Arizona Fall League. But I don't have that good imagination. Nothing about anything fictional interests me in OOTPB.

I actually GM/manage a team in the Arizona Fall League as well. That I actually like just because you get prospects from 3 different MLB teams and it feels different.

I've always just played modern day from opening day each year. My long runs usually last around a decade or so and then I start over with a different team if I haven't lost interest.

Technically I am GM/Manager. But I only play out maybe 2 dozen games a year. Usually when I made a trade or promoted someone and want to see their first game. Or some kind of milestone type of game. Then usually home opener series and home closing series. I really don't even play out my playoff games.

If I am in a DH league there isn't really much to do during the games. I believe in saber. So I don't steal, bunt, hit n run or any of that stuff. Every now and then I might have to change my defense setup. But there is not much for me to do that would impact the game.

I just want to be able to setup the depth chart, lineups, pitching staff and bullpen cause the AI is weird sometimes. Doing that is my biggest impact on the team. And I don't think it matters if I play the games or the sim the games.
