Post Week 17. (30-67)

The first game of the week was against the Padres at home. It was the first start of the ex-Yankee Jhonatan Losaiga in a Marlins uniform. He was amazing and threw 6 shutout innings allowing only 5 base runners. The bullpen was also amazing and finished the shutout victory. Riley Ferrel got his first career save. Curtis Granderson had another homer. JT Riddle has a clutch hit coming off the bench and secured the victory in the 8th. We have won three games in a row for the first time on the season

The dream of having an extended winning streak disappear with the extra-inning loss against the Padres in the second game of the series. Yamamoto had a good outing allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Sergio Romo couldn´t keep up with the Padres performance and gave a 2 run homer to Manny Machado in the 10th. Victor Mesa had his first home run in the majors.

It is Zac Gallen time Y'all!!!. He had another amazing outing in the final game of the series. He went 8 shutout innings in 100 pitches. He allowed just 2 hits and 2 bases on balls. He punched out 10 Padres. Sergio Romo got the call in the ninth and was credited with the save, his 15 this season. Isan Díaz had his third homer of the season and he keeps showing why he might be the second baseman of the future.

The first game of the series against the Dodgers in LA might be the most heartbreaking loss of the season. The team rallied in the 9th after being 5 runs behind and got in front by 1 run. Riley Ferrel started the ninth and after getting an out and giving up a hit was replaced by Nick Anderson who gave up two singles and let the Dodgers tie. In the 10th PITCHER Richard Blair leadoff the inning with a double against Kintzler and an out later Corey Seager brought him home with an RBI Walk-off single.

Some league news: The Pirates have traded right-hand pitcher Jordan Lyles to the Cardinals receiving in exchange minor-leaguers Brendan Donovan and Andrew Owen.

We got revenge! It was an extra-inning win in the second game against the Dodgers. Caleb Smith had a decent outing and went 7 innings allowing three earned runs. We managed to score 4 runs early in the game against Mike Minor and we were headed towards a comfortable win. Nevertheless, in the 9th Riley Ferrel was called up to finish the game but he was unable. He got two outs but then loaded the bases with three straight walks. JT Chargois gave up a 2-run double to Bellinger that tied the game. In the 10th the unlikely hero was Garret Cooper who was pinch-hitting for Curtis Granderson. Cooper had a monstrous two-run homer against Scott Alexander and gave us the lead. This team Nick Anderson had a clean inning and got the win and the save.

We were so close to achieving our fourth series win a row but we lost by one run in the Sunday night game against the Dodgers. In his second outing, Losaiga suffered and gave up 5 earned runs in 4.2 innings, with three home runs. Mike Ford had his second home run as a Marlin. We tried an epic comeback in the ninth and score three runs against Bleier but we came up short. The team is improving and is showing some desire to win the last week. The regular tradeline will come up next week. Sergio Romo is the main candidate to leave the team.

Some league news: After being out of action for a week A.J Pollock was diagnosed with a medial collateral ligament rupture and will be operated. He will be out for the rest of the season.

Post Week 18. (32-71)

We had to travel across the country to play our next interleague series against the White Sox´s. The lineup had a change as we had to incorporate JT Riddle as the DH. He batted in the 6th hole. We won the series opener thanks to a couple of homers by Mike Ford and Isain Diaz. Yamamoto had a decent outing and in spite of Nick Anderson struggles in the 8th inning (he gave up 2 runs) we managed to hold the one-run lead and get our 31st W of the season. Brandon Kintzler is day to day because of some flu-symptoms (not coronavirus )

It´s been a long time since we´ve had a blow out loss like the one we suffered in game 2 of the series against the White Sox´s. Lucas Giolito had a complete game for the opposing team as we managed to only get 5 base runners in all the game (4 hits and 1 walk). Some of our top pitchers struggled, Zac Gallen and Tommy Eveld. Garret Cooper was the pitcher in the ninth inning making that the second time a position player has taken the mound for us in the season.

It was a series loss against the Sox´s. The last game of the series featured Pablo Lopez against Reynaldo Lopez. Our Lopez was not good and he gave up 7 runs in 2.1 innings pitched. The rest of the pitchers in our bullpen combined for 6 scoreless innings, but that wasn´t enough to catch the Sox´s in the score. Tim Anderson had another home run as Austin Dean did. Victor Mesa has been improving his batting average the last few games after struggling in his first week in the majors.

Some league news: Madison Bumgarner has been traded from the Giants to the Oakland A´s. The trade, that I don't understand, sent Ramon Laureano and Sean Murphy to the Giants.

Wei-Yin Chen, yes he is still in the team, has gone to the 10 day IL after suffering an Elbow inflammation. Brian Moran, the 30-year-old reliever, will be called up from AA, and will make his major league debut.

The new series against the DiamondBacks opened up with an extra-innings loss for us. It was our 70th loss of the season. Caleb Smith had a bad outing, giving up 6 earned runs, and Moran made his debut with a final slash line of 1IP, 2H, 1ER,1K. The loss was credited to Chargois, that had his first bad outing in a Marlins uniform, and gave up 5 earned runs in the top of the 10th. Victor Mesa got 4 hits in 6 at-bats and Mike Ford drove in 3.

Some league news: Christian Yelich was diagnosed with a sports hernia and will miss at least two months. He might be done for the season.

The second game of the series at home against Arizona was probably one of the most exciting games of the season. Jhonatan Losaiga bounced back from a bad outing and went the distance pitching seven innings and allowing only one run. After being down by one run in the ninth, Miguel Rojas, had a run-scoring single to tie it up and Diaz then walk it off with another single up the middle. Riley Ferrel pitch the top of the 9th and was credited with the win. Moran had his second outing in the majors and threw a scoreless eighth.

Some league news: The Phillies made a huge move to boost their rotation by acquiring Jake Odorizzi from the Minnesota Twins. The Twins received 2B- Cesar Hernandez and minor leaguer Aaron Whitefield.

The Sunday game against the DiamondBacks was a tough loss. We were shutout, yet again, and Matt Andreise had a complete game for the opposing team, allowing only 5 hits. Yamamoto had a terrible second inning and gave up 5 runs. Brandon Kintzler was in charge of the long relief and went 4 innings giving up 1 run. A good job by Kintzler that gave the bullpen some time to rest before the final game of the series.

Some league news: Mitch Garver has gone from the Twins to the A´s in exchange for minor leaguer Jharel Cotton.

Post Week 19. (35-74) Trade Deadline

The last game of the series against the Diamondbacks was an easy win for them. Zack Greinke was amazing for them and lasted 8 innings allowing only one run and seven hits. Zac Gallen had an okay start giving up 3 earned runs in 6 innings (the three runs came via home run). Sergio Romo gave up three runs in 2 relief innings.

Some league news: Craig Stammen and Nick Margervic have been traded to the Cubs in exchange for Mark Zagunis. Matt Duffy and Luis Moncada have gone from the Rays to the Phillies. The Rays received Cole Irvin and Adam Haseley.

July 30th. The first game of the three-game home series against the Twins was a nice victory for us. Victor Mesa had his second home run in the majors and he is leaving a good impression in the big leagues. Pablo Lopez was due a great start and he did by throwing seven innings and allowing only two earned runs. He was credited with the win, his fourth in the season. Riley Ferrell closed the game and earned his second save of the year.

We won by a very close margin (4-3) in what was a very strange game. Caleb Smith had an amazing outing by allowing only one run in seven innings. Anderson had a homer in the 7th that gave us a 3-1 lead that was held in the eighth by Eveld. The save opportunity was for Ferrell but he gave up two earned runs and we were tied to the bottom of the ninth. The walk of hero was Diaz that had a solo homer against an all-star closer, Blake Treinen.

Some trade deadline news: Plutko was traded to the Phillies and Scherbler changed cities from Cincinnati to Chicago (White Sox´s)

The last game of the series, and the season, against this AL rival, was a loss. It was a rough outing for Losaiga who suffered in the first innings giving up 4 runs. The bullpen (Moran, Anderson, Chargois) kept the game close by not allowing a single run in the next innings but the offense came up short. Granderson had another homer and he is leading the team for the season with 14. Harold Ramirez was eligible to come back from the IL. Magnerius Sierra was optioned to AAA to clear a roster spot for Ramirez.

The Tropicana Field two-game road trip was our last series in an American League ballpark. The first game ended with a score of 6-4 in 10 innings. IT was a very close game till the top of 10th inning when a JT Riddle had a double with the bases full and gave us a one-run lead. Chargois, the waiver claim from the Dodgers newbie, was assigned by Mattingly, to get the save, but he failed and gave up a 2 run walk-off homer to Kevin Kiermaer.

The two runs scored in the first inning were enough to win the game and end the short series in a tie. Anderson had a two-run homer in the first against Brent Honeywell to put up the only 2 runs of the game. Zac Gallen was amazing in 7 innings, punching out 10, Eveld and Ferrell finished the shutout.

Some league news: Ryan Madson was diagnosed with torn ulnar collateral ligament and will undergo Tommy John surgery. It is uncertain if he will play again in the majors.

Post Week 20. (36-80)

The new week comes along with two bad news. The first one was the loss on the Monday game against the Mets at Citi Field. Pablo Lopez gave up 4 runs (1 unearned) in the first and the team couldn´t recover. In spite of the offense efforts, an error by Miguel Rojas in the 5th allowed the Mets to score three more runs. Alfaro had a home run after being in a slump for a long time. Diaz, our 2B, had a perfect game at the plate with 3 hits on 3 at-bats, 1 homer, 2 RBI´s and a walk. The second bad news was the injury of Victor Mesa, who was diagnosed with a Bruised foot and will be day to day for at least 5 days.

We lost back to back games after quite a while. Caleb Smith had another good outing, he is close to getting his season ERA under 4.00. Noah Syndergaard was amazing for the Mets and went 6 innings without allowing a single run. Brandon Nimmo was the player of the game by connecting two homers in the game, one of Caleb Smith and one of Chargois. Wei-Yen Chen was assigned to rehab in the minors.

The last game of the series was similar to the one before. We lost by a very tight margin. Jhontan Losaiga recuperated and had a good outing. It was Sergio Romo, who gave up the decisive run, on the 9th and was credited with the loss. Nevertheless, the run that cost us the game was because of a throwing error by third baseman Miguel Rojas. I´ve claimed from Waivers three players; Zac Houston, Brendan McKay, and Cedric Mullins. Moran was optioned to AAA, Romo was DFA´d and Victor Mesa went to the 10 IL. Jon Berti was also DFA´d to make room in the 40 man roster.

League news: Max Scherzer was diagnosed with torn ulnar collateral ligament and will be out for the rest of the season.

We were back at home and back to the winning column. Yamamoto had another quality start and Diaz is still swinging a hot bat. He had 2 for 4 days with a homer and driving in 5 runs. Cedric Mullins made his debut in a Marlins uniform in center field and went 2 for 4. Harold Ramirez got his second homer of the year and we had a comfortable win against the complicated Braves.

We had our star rookie for the second game of the series, Zac Gallen, but that wasn't enough to beat the Braves. Mullins had his first RBI´s with the team with a run-scoring double in the 4th. Zack Houston's first game in Marlins Park was mediocre as he gave up one run in his 2 inning outing in relief. Freddie Freeman connected his 21st homer of the season. Jon Berti was claimed from waivers by Milwaukee.

August 10th. The second game in a row was done from the first inning. The first inning struggles continued for Pablo Lopez, as he gave up 4 earned runs in the first. The team couldn´t score more than one run and the game finished 5-1.

The third loss in a row and the 80th of the season came via the shutout. Julio Teheran did an amazing job as the Braves starter and went 6.1 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out six of our players. Caleb Smith was batted around after a couple of good outings and Brandon Kintzler gave up 5 runs in 1.1 innings.

Post Week 21. (38-84)

The new week started with a series against one of the best teams in the National League. And it was a one-run win for us. Losaiga has been improving which is a good sign thinking in the next season, and Ferrell had another save. Mike Ford has entered into a slump and his batting for .204 in 116 plate appearances. Miguel Rojas had good game driving 4 runs, with a key double in the 8th. Some roster moves as Michael Chavis, one the top prospects of the game who came via trade, was called up to the majors and Garret Cooper was optioned to AAA. Chavis will have regular action for the rest of the season in third base and Rojas will alternate at first with Ford.

August 14th. It was an error-filled loss. The Dodgers scored 10 runs but only four of them were earned. Pablo Lopez had his first appearance as a long reliever, a role that he might transition into the next season. The First Major league game for Chavis was tough. He went 0 for 3 with a base on ball and a strikeout. He was also credited with an error. Harold Ramirez has been batting okay since coming off the IL and his slash line for his rookie season is .247/.296/.326

The last game of the series against the Dodgers was dominated by Max Muncy's amazing performance. He had 3 home run game. We managed to put some pressure on the Dodgers by scoring two runs against Walker Buehler but the bullpen shut us down. Sergio Romo has finished his time in the waiver list and he refused to be demoted. He was released.

Some roster moves before the first game at Coors Field. Austin Dean was optioned to AAA to make room for Victor Mesa who was eligible to come off the IL. The game was rocky since the start as newbie Brendan McKay was injured in the first inning. Pablo Lopez was in charge of the long relief but he did a poor job. He allowed 5 runs in 3 innings. Tim Anderson had a home run and Michael Chavis is still struggling at the big league level. He had another error and 3 strikeouts at the plate.

Some league news: Luis Severino threw a no-hitter against the Indians at Yankee Stadium

After losing three games in a row we won again behind Caleb Smith's quality outing. He went 6 innings and allowed two runs. Ferrell had the responsibility in the ninth inning and earned his 5th save of the season. Isan Diaz had his 8th home run of the season.

Some league news: Zack Greinke was diagnosed with torn flexor tendon and will be out of action for 10 months. He will lose the rest of the season and a big part of the next one

Probably the worst outing for Tommy Eveld on the season. He gave up three runs, by allowing back to back to back homers, in the 6th and left injured. He was diagnosed with a strained hamstring and he will be going to the 10 day IL. It has been a tough first week for Chavis in the majors, he has gone 0 for 18 and I am wondering if he needs to go back to the minors. It was a difficult week for us.

Post Week 22. (40-88)

Some roster moves and reminders before the start of the twenty-second week of the season. The expanded roster in September will be limited to 28 men (as the new rule state) and after this season the active roster can have 26 players or less. After underperforming severely for two series, Michael Chavis is going back to AAA. His replacement will be the second baseman, Marco Hernandez, who arrived from Boston as well in a trade that sent Tayron Guerrero up to New England.

I´ve lost track of how many shutout losses we´ve had this season. With the roster moves, I´ve made a couple of lineup adjustments like Victor Mesa batting leadoff and Mullins clean up but it wasn't enough. Ford went back to the starting lineup and got a hit in four plate appearances. Yamamoto went the distance and gave up 4 runs but the team couldn't figure out the Braves starter, Mike Foltynewicz. Some roster moves after the game. Brendan McKay was demoted to AAA, he is one of my top pitching prospects and I don't want to seem he burnt this season. Chen was recalled.

This was a first. Back to back shutout losses at Sun Trust Park. Gallen struggled and gave up 5 runs in 5 innings. I am very worried about Mike Ford´s batt, he is batting now for .193 with three homers. I had high expectations for him, and I still hope he can improve and be a solid starting first baseman.

A win is a win no matter how we got it. We rallied in the 6th, 7th and 8th to beat the Braves at the last game of the series. Pablo Lopez went back to the starting job and went 6 innings allowing 5 runs. Ferrel secured the save and the win by throwing a clean ninth. Mullins had the first homer as a Marlin and Ford had a good day (Oh boy did he need one) as he went 2 for 4.

Some league news: Charlie Morton of the Tampa Bay Rays has torn his meniscus and will undergo surgery. He will miss what´s left of the season.

We flew back home to face Phillie and won the 40th game of the season. It was an exciting pitching duel as Jake Arrieta and Caleb Smith limited the teams to 2 and 1 run respectively. Smith, who right now is only allowed to throw 100 pitches per game, was great and he finally has his season ERA under 4.00. Harold Ramirez had a great game going 3 for 4 and bringing home the winning run.

After the first game being a low scoring affair, the second one was an offensive performance. The Phillies scored 14 runs thanks to an awful performance by Losaiga and (yeah, you guessed it) Chen. Moran also struggled in relief but at least we didn´t use our best arms. Ford had another tough day at the plate, I was hoping he could build up after his last game.

We lost the Sunday game and the series. It was Harper´s time, he had a multi-homer game, both of them coming off Yamamoto. Zack Houston did a good job in relief as he threw two scoreless innings, punching out 4. Victor Mesa had his third homer of the year, he did it in the first pitch thrown against us in the game.

Post Week 23. (45-91)

We started this week with a doubleheader against the Reds at home. The first game featured Zac Gallen vs Luis Castillo and went until the 13th inning. Gallen had an okay start and allowed three runs in six innings. The third time facing the order Castillo struggled and we scored three runs against him tying the game. Our bullpen was fantastic as they threw seven shutout innings and allowing only 2 base runners. Chargois was credited with the win. The offense hero was Victor Mesa as he had a great game and connected three doubles in 5 plate appearances. It was Harold Ramirez's clutch single in the 13th that brought home the decisive run.

The second game of the series was a more comfortable win as we managed to score 7 runs and allow only 2. Pablo Lopez was okay as the starter and he only allowed 1 run in 6 innings. Ford had his fourth home run as a Marlin as did Ramirez. Anderson also connected a blast beyond the center field to tie his season record with 20 HR.

Bad news as Tommy Eveld is still in recovery and he will not be available to play for at least two more weeks. It´s probable he will be shut down for the rest of the season, no need to risk a more serious injury.

It´s Marlin's time!!! Our third win a row came thanks to the Caleb Smith, who ´s had a very good second half. Harold Ramirez is the hottest player in the team and he had another homer. Mike Ford is also heating up and had a 2 hit game with a homer and a double. Zack Houston is proving to be a good pick up and he had a three-inning save. Marco Hernadez had his first hit as a Marlin and his first appearance in the majors since 2017.

Our great run was cut short by a heartbreaking extra-inning loss. It was, in my humble opinion, a terrible bullpen strategy by our manager, Don Mattingly, who ran out of pitchers in the 11th inning and had to put third baseman, Martin Prado on the mound. Prado gave up one run, that was decisive. Ford had tied the game heroically in the ninth with a two-out homer

The series finale was a total bullpen loss for us. Yamamoto had a good outing but our three relievers (Anderson, Chargois, and Moran) combined to give up 10 runs in the last three innings. Some very good news as Ford had his third straight game with a homer. The clutch hit disappeared in the middle innings and we left 15 men on base.

August 30th. The 91st loss of the season was in the first game at Nationals Park and we are officially and mathematically eliminated from the postseason. Ford carried his home run streak to Washington and he has homered in 4 straight games. Zac Gallen suffered and he raised his season ERA over 4.00. The bullpen kept the game close but a good performance by Victor Mesa and Mike Ford was not enough to come back. The Orioles and the Marlins are also mathematically eliminated of the playoffs.

Is Mike Ford better than Barry Bonds? The answer is yes. In our win over the Nationals, he homered, for the FIFHT game in a row. The team jumped early on Joe Ross thanks to a Mullins two-run bomb and a Ford solo shot. Mullins had a great game, he went 3 for 5 with a homer, a double and 4 RBI´s. Pablo Lopez had a good outing. We suffered more than we should thanks to a Chen bad outing (what a surprise) but Ferrel came to the rescue and he closed the game.

We´ve gone the series at Nats park taking the Sunday game by 2 to 1. Ford streak has ended but he still went 2 for 4 at the plate. Caleb Smith kept his good performances, he has had a 2.94 ERA since the All-star break. Miguel Rojas had a homer and his season total is 7. Riley Ferrel had another save, raising his season total to 9 and keeping his season ERA at 1.84.

The September call ups are here. The three players that were called up from the minors are: Chad Wallach (C), Adam Conley (RP), and Magnerius Sierra (CF)

End of the month recap

PENNANT CHASE!!

AL East
The Boston Red Sox´s have a 6 game advantage from the Rays and the Yankees. They have a 99 % probability of making the playoffs

AL Central
The Indians have the division in the bag with a 22 game difference against the Twins and the magic number is 5.

AL West
The Astros have taking control of the division after some pressure of the Angels in the first half of the season. The team from Anaheim are 10.5 games behind. The Astros have a 100 % chance of making the playoffs

AL Wildcard
The race is down to three teams; Angels, Rays, and Yankees. The Angels have a 2 game difference from the two teams of the AL East and the Rays are holding the #2 spot. The Yankees are one win behind but they have a 39.6% chance of making the playoffs against the 73.8% of the Rays. The Angels have a 86 % chance of earning a wild card spot.

NL East
The Phillies have a record of 82-54 and have practically secured their space in the postseason. They have a good advantage from the Braves, 5 games, and from the Nationals, 9 games. They have a 100 % chance of making the playoffs.

NL Central
This race is going to be exciting. The Reds are on top but the difference against the other team is very short. They have a 2.5 difference against the Brewers and the Cardinals, a 3.5 against the Cubs and a 4 against the Pirates. The only way a team of this division is making the playoffs is by winning the division, the records are very low to fight for a wild card spot.

NL West
The biggest surprise of the season has been the terrible performance by the Dodgers since the All-star break, which has cost them the first place of the division. The Rockies have a 1.5 lead against LA and have a 78.7 % chance of making the playoffs.

NL Wildcard
Anything can happen here. The Braves are apparently the strong favorite to take the first wild card, they have a 5 game difference. The other teams will have to fight for the second spot that currently holds Washington. The Nat's playoff chance percentage is 62.4%. The Dodgers have a 42. 5 %

I will do a pennant chase review one week before the season ends.

Post Week 24. (49-93)

The first series at PNC park of the season started negatively for us. In spite of a good performance by Johnathan Losaiga, in which he allowed three earned runs in six innings. Chargois gave up 3 runs in the eight that finally cost us the game. Fun fact about Losaiga, he has been batting for .222 with 3 extra-base hits in his 10 games as a Marlin. This time he had a 2 RBI double in the fifth that gave the team the lead. It was a tough game for Isan Diaz who had 4 strikeouts.

I want the season to be over. Probably, now and more than ever, as we lost for the second night in a row, against a very beatable Pirates team. Yamamoto was bad, hoping he gets out his system all of the bad performances this season, and Chen also gave up innings in relief. Harold Ramirez had a three-hit effort. For the next few games, the starting catcher will be the September call up, Wallach.

We managed to get a one run-win against the Pirates to avoid a series sweep. This win was mainly because of Zac Gallen who bounced back from two bad outings and went seven innings allowing just two runs. Marco Hernandez had his first home run in a Marlins uniform and Tim Anderson had his 21st of the season, making 2020 his best season in home run totals. Riley Ferrell had another clean outing and earned his 10th save of the season. He has a season ERA of 1.78. Wallach had a hit in his first season appearance.

The last interleague series of the season was against the Kansas City Chiefs at home. Pablo Lopez had his best appearance of the season and went eight innings without allowing a single run. Ferrell finished the game and we managed to win by 1 to 0. The only run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to a run-scoring double by Diaz. Riddle played as the shortstop and had two errors.

We took the second game of the series by a score of 5 to 3. Caleb Smith had a good start and his season ERA is down to 3.86. Zac Houston also had a good game and earned his second save of the year. This season he had an ERA of 6.57 in 12.1 IP with Detroit, while with us his ERA is 1.17 in 15.1IP. He was a waiver claim that seems to be paying off and he will surely be in the bullpen for next season. Tommy Eveld has recovered but he will rest for another week before he makes an appearance.

It was a series sweep for us after another one-run win against Kansas. This time it was Jonathan Losaiga with a great performance that got the team on a roll. He went 7.1 innings and allowed only 2 earned runs. Riley Ferrell had his third save in the last six games and is up to 12 in the season. Mullins and Ford with a couple of doubles were the difference makers. It was the first series sweep for us in quite a while, it was the third of the season.

Post Week 25. (50-99)

The first game of the week was against a playoff contender, the Milwaukee Brewers. Another shutout loss as Jimmy Nelson had an amazing performance for the Brewers. He finished with a slash line of 0ER, 8.0IP, 4H and 5K´s. Yamamoto had an okay outing and he has a season ERA of 5.29. Tim Anderson and Magnerius Sierra had a couple of Doubles. Sierra has done a good job since been called upon the first of September.

The second game of the series represented another rough outing for Zac Gallen that has been in a slump for the last month. Victor Mesa had a nice game going 2 for 5 with a couple of RBI´s. Chargois has been struggling since joining the team and he gave up 4 runs in two innings this time. Adam Conley made his first appearance since being recalled in the roster expansion and gave up 3 runs.

The Brewers are now riding a 6 game winning streak after beating us for the third night in a row. Pablo Lopez was credited with the loss in spite of having a good performance. Zac Houston was again excellent as a reliever and went 2 innings without allowing a single base runner. Chad Wallach had his first homer of the season, and that was our only run of the game. Mike Moustakas had two homers for the Brewers, in the second and the fifth inning.

Milwaukee just blew us away in this 4 game series. The series finale ended by 8 to 2 thanks to a great game by Tim Locastro who had 4 RBI´s thanks to two doubles. Caleb Smith struggled and his season ERA is again above 4.00. He has now a record of 10 wins and 10 losses. This was our 97th loss of a season.

We traveled to the west to face the Giants and had another shutout loss. Jhoulys Chacin almost had a complete game as he went 8.1 innings allowing just 6 hits and 2 bases on balls. Ford had his second triple of the season as he went 2 for 3, before being replaced by Martin Prado. Brandon Crawford was the difference in the offense as he had a three-run homer in the 4th inning. Those were the only three runs in the game. This was our fifth loss in a row.

Another loss after another Brandon Crawford homer. This time Crawford had three homers in the game. Yamamoto struggled and only lasted 2.2 innings. The rest of the relievers were okay, except Chen, that gave up 3 runs in the sixth inning. We haven´t had a home run in quite a while as our offense is kind of tired of the season. A double by Miguel Rojas and a couple of singles by Diaz and Riddle put us on the board, but it wasn´t enough to beat the giants.

Some league news: Houston has clinched the AL West. They did it with a record of 98-50.

September 15. After six straight defeats, we got the 50th win of the season thanks to a complete game of Zac Gallen. It was the first time of the season that a pitcher of our team has had a complete game. He allowed only 4 hits and struck out three players. Marco Hernandez had his second homer of the season and was the difference-maker.

Post Week 26. (53-102)

Our 100th loss of the season was a tough one. Pablo Lopez had a good outing giving up one earned run in six innings. Riley Ferrell threw two scoreless innings to keep the team in the game through the ninth and the tenth. At the top of the 11th, a Brian Holiday single gave us the lead but Arizona had to back to back solo homers in the bottom of the 11th to have themselves a walk-off win.

The second game of the series went our way thanks to an amazing performance by Victor Mesa and Mike Ford. Mesa had 2 hits including a 3 run homer in the third inning against Robbie Ray. Magnerius Sierra also had another good game by going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI´s. Caleb Smith also had a good game going 5 innings without allowing a run. He was credited with his eleven win of the season.

September 18. A one-run win to steal an away series. It was an amazing rally in the ninth to come back from 3 runs. Mike Ford had a three-run homer after Miguel Rojas had a run-scoring single. The one-run lead was preserved by our closer Riley Ferrel who had his 13 save of the season. Losaiga had a good outing and went 6 innings allowing only one run. His season ERA with the Marlins is 3.53 in 14 games started.

Some league news: Matt Barnes, right-hand pitcher for the Boston Red Sox´s has been diagnosed with an undiagnosed injury and he will be at least two weeks out. He might miss the playoffs. It´s will be tough loss for Boston.

Corbin was light out in the first game of the series. He had a complete game and allowed only one run. Yamamoto was credited with the loss, his fourteen of the season. Brian Moran has suffered in the majors since being recalled and has a season ERA of 6.55. He will probably be non-tender at the end of the season. Our only run of the game came via a Miguel Rojas homer.

The second game against the Nationals was very similar to the first one. A great performance by Strasburg that limited us to one run, a run-scoring single by Ford. Zac Gallen was batted around, again, and was credited with his 12 loss of the season. Victor Robles and Juan Soto were the key guys offensively for the opposing team.

The last home game of the season was a walk-off win in extra innings. Pablo Lopez was our starter and he went 6.2 innings allowing 4 runs. Clutch hits by Harold Ramirez and Marco Hernandez helped us tie the game. Riley Ferrel pitched a clean 9th and 10th and was credited with the win. The walk-off hero was JT Riddle after he brought home Tim Anderson with a single down the middle in the bottom of the 10th.

Post Week 27. (58-104) Regular season ends

The first of the two remaining series was against the New York Mets, who were still fighting to make the playoffs. The first game at Citi Field was a sensational win for us as Caleb Smith went seven shutout innings allowing only one hit. Moran pitched the eight and Riley Ferrel had his 14 save of the season by striking out the side in the ninth. The offense had a great performance against a Cy young candidate like Jacob deGrom and managed to score 4 earned runs. Mullins and Mesa had a 3 hit game and Harold Ramirez had a two-run homer in the eighth.

It was a 1-0 loss in the second game of the series. Losaiga was rolling until the fourth inning, without allowing a single base runner, when he had to leave the game injured. He will not pitch his next start. Chargois was credited with the loss as he gave the only run of the game in the 8th. It was a run-scoring single by Tod Fraizer. Zack Wheeler was amazing for the Mets and Edwin Diaz got his 38th save of the season.

Some league news: The Red Sox´s have clinched the AL East. The Dodgers have clinched the NL West. The Yankees have secured a wild card appearance.

It was a tough one-run loss in the third game of the series as Riley Ferrel had his second blown save of the season. It was a very tight game as both starters, Yamamoto and Stratton, gave up 4 runs and lasted 6 innings. Our runs came thanks to a Diaz and Mullins homer. On the other hand, the Mets had a double fest in the fifth and scored all 4 runs in that inning. The team managed to put themselves ahead in the top of the 10th with a Diaz homer but Ferrel couldn't get the save and he gave up a 2 run homer to Keon Broxton.

The last game of the series was a pitching duel. Zac Gallen had a great game going 8 innings and allowing only one run, lowering his season ERA under 4.00. We scored two runs, that was enough, and one of them came via a sac fly of Zac Gallen. The other one run came thanks to a line-drive single in the 6th by Miguel Rojas. The Mets have a one-run lead against the Nationals in the race for the second wild-card spot.

The last series of the regular season is at Citizens Park against a Phillies team that was going toe to toe with the Braves to achieve the division title. Nevertheless, we stole game 1 of the series thanks to a good performance by our starter, Pablo Lopez. He was stellar in seven innings giving up just one run. Cedric Mullins had a good game for us as he went 2 for 4 with a couple of RBI´s.

We are the party poopers. We won in the second game of the series thanks to homers by Mesa, Anderson, and Hernandez. Caleb Smith, last performance of the season was okay as he went seven innings allowing two earned runs. It was an Anderson three-run bomb in the eighth that helped us tie the game and another three-run homer by Hernandez in the eleventh gave us other extra-innings win.

Curtis Granderson, our right fielder for a long part of the season, announced his retirement. He played fifteen years in the majors. He was part of 2025 games.

Some league news: The Reds have surprised everyone and have won the NL Central. This was the first team since 2012 and their first postseason appearance since 2013. Max Muncy was injured in the last game of the regular season and he could miss the rest of the playoffs. He will be out for the NLDS.

Well.... we swept the Phillies in our last game of the year to finish with a record of 58-84. Yamamoto had a great outing going 5 innings without allowing a single run. Conley and Moran finished the shutout. Our only run of the game came thanks to a rally in the sixth against Jerad Eickhoff. It was Tim Anderson who brought home Mike Ford with a 2 out RBI single.

Some league news: Craig Kimbrel has signed a three-year extension with the Houston Astros worth 40 million. He will earn 13 million dollars per year.

Post 2020 Offseason report. Part 1

Brian Moran was placed on irrevocable waivers to make room in the 40-man roster.
Adam Conley, Jose Ureña, Bryan Holaday were not tender and will become free agents.
Isaac Galloway and Mike Kickham were not offered an extension and will go into free agency
Brian Moran did not accept the minor league contract

The first trade of the offseason came by a proposal made by the Texas Rangers. They wanted JT Riddle and were offering Trey Mancini in return. I like getting Mancini in the team but I didn't want Riddle gone. I offered Peter O´Brien (1B) and minor leaguer Osiris Jhonson (SS) and in return, I received Trey Mancini and minor leaguer Ronier Lascarro (LF).

We´ve made another trade. We´ve acquired Jorge Soler, the power bat I wanted, and minor leaguer Rodrigo Rodriguez (C) in exchange for minor leaguers Mike Kickham (RHP) and Micah Brown (1B).

Post 2020 Week 1. ( 2- 2) Opening day!

Some notes before the first game of the season: The fan interest is at 50! At the beginning of last season, it was 34. We´ve sold 72 % more tickets than last year, the price remains the same.

Opening day is here!! We played the first game of the year against the Chicago Cubs at home. It was a tough game that featured to lefty as starters (Caleb Smith for us, Jose Quintana for them). We couldn´t prevail as Smith struggled in the first few innings allowing 4 earned runs in 5 innings pitched. Rio Ruiz, Scooter Gennet, Jorge Soler, Trey Mancini, Kike Hernandez, Gerson Bautista, and Will Smith made their official debut in a Marlins uniform. Bautista's first appearance as a reliever was excellent as he had two scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Mike Ford went 2 for 4 with a double, as did Jorge Soler.

Our first win of the season came thanks to an amazing performance by last year's rookie sensation, Zac Gallen. He went 8.0 innings without allowing a single run and giving up only 2 hits and 1 base on balls. Riley Ferrell was in charge of the ninth inning and he got his first save of the season, but he gave up a homer to Daniel Descalso. He also had three strikeouts. The offense was okay as Tim Anderson, who is now batting leadoff, had an RBI double in the fifth. Jorge Soler had a good second game in Marlins Park as he had one hit in three tries, with 2 RBI´s. Kike Hernandez had his first appearance as a starter as he replaced Victor Victor Mesa in center field.

Some league news: Lucas Giolito, from the CWS, was diagnosed with a partially torn labrum and he will miss the next 4 months of the season

We took game 3 of the series by 7 to 3. It was Dallas Keuchel's first performance as a Marlin was decent. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 earned runs, and 2 homers (To Javi Baez and Anthony Rizzo). Kike Hernandez had his first homer of the year and the first of the team. Tim Anderson was a homer short of the cycle, he went 3 for 5, and had 3 RBI´s. Rio Ruiz had his two first base hit. Kyle Keller had his first appearance in the major and earned the win by going 2 shutout innings with three strikeouts. Riley Ferrell had his second save of the year.

The Sunday showdown and series finale against the Cubs was a 2-run loss. Jonathan Losaiga suffered in the first innings as he gave up three runs in 3 hits and a base on balls. The team showed some signs of life at the bottom of the first thanks to a Rio Ruiz homer. Losaiga lasted 4.2IP and gave another run. The bullpen, mainly the two long relievers Yamamoto and Povse were amazing and kept the game close. Garret Cooper had his first appearance of the season as a pinch hitter and he had an RBI double. The series ended in a tie and we will be receiving Boston next week in the first interleague series of the year.

Post 2020 Week 2. (4-5)

The first game of the series against the Red Sox´s was our first shutout win of the season. Martin Perez was our starter, and it was his first official appearance on the team. I have great expectations for him this season. He went seven shutout innings allowing 4 base runners in 3 hits and one base on balls. He punched out 5 players of the opposing team. Nick Anderson pitched the eight and Riley Ferrell had his third save of the season. Nathan Eovaldi had a great performance but he gave up a homer to Trey Mancini, his first of the season, that was the difference-maker. James McCann had his first appearance of the year and went 0 for 3 with a strikeout.

Another series tie as a three-run top of the ninth inning helped Boston secure their third win of the season. In spite of already having three saves, Riley Ferrell has been struggling in the early season. He was responsible for two runs as he gave up a home run to JD Martinez and left a man on a base that later scored. Max Povse came to replace Ferrell and he couldn´t manage to finish the inning without allowing another run. Caleb Smith was injured and he had to be replaced just after 1.2 innings. He was diagnosed with a Mild Oblique strain but should be ready for his next scheduled start. Jorge Soler batted leadoff for this game and Tim Anderson was bumped to the clean off spot, and he had his first home-run of the year. Will Smith, has also suffered at the begging of the season and has gone 0 for 16 in this homestand.

Some league news: Wade Miley, who signed with the Nationals, was diagnosed with torn ulnar collateral ligament and will undergo Tommy John surgery.
George Springer signed a 6-year extension with the Astros worth 154M.

The first road series of the year was at Citizen Park against the Phillies. We fell short and lost in spite that we outhit the opposing team. Zac Gallen was decent limiting the Phillies to 3 runs in 6 innings. The three runs came thanks to a Bryce Harper homer in the 5th with players in third and second. Isan Diaz had his first appearance of the season and suffered a lot at the plate as he had 4 strikeouts. Tommy Eveld suffered in the 8th and as he gave up 2 runs in a homer to JT Realmuto. Keller had another great relief performance going two clean innings with 4 punchouts. Mike Ford went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI´s

Some league news: Shane Bieber had a torn labrum and will be out for at least 4 months.
Brian Dozier has signed with the Chicago White Sox´s for a year and 3.2 M

The second game on the road was a W thanks to another good performance by Dallas Keuchel. He went seven innings and allowed only one run, via a Home-run (vs Mitch Waldin in the 8th). Tommy Eveld and Riley Ferrell had a good outing and held the Phillies at a one-run distance. Jorge Soler had his first home run of the season in the seventh inning against Nick Pivetta. Will Smith also had his first hit of the season, with a double on the sixth.

We´ve lost the series as the Phillies have beaten us by 11-3. Loaisiga struggled again as he could only manage to go three innings in which he allowed seven runs. Yamamoto finished the game and gave up 4 runs in 5 innings. Jorge Soler had another homer doing it in back to back games. Trey Mancini and Scooter Gennet have been batting well and are holding a .303 and .345 average, respectively.

Post 2020 Week 3. (8-7)

The new week started with a trip back home to face a division rival, the Mets. The first game featured two great pitchers in Perez and DeGrom and our team managed to prevail and take the first W of the series. Perez had another impressive outing as he went six innings allowing only one run. in 4 hits. Before the game, I´ve made some changes in the bullpen roles as Nick Anderson was named the new closer and Riley Ferrell was moved to a setup role. Ferrel pitched a clean eighth and Anderson had his first save of the season by pitching a 3 up, 3 down ninth. De Grom, could only play one inning as he had to be taken out of the game due to an injury. Mike Ford had his first homer of the year.

With had back to back wins for the second time of the year. It was a weird walk-off win as Rio Ruiz reached on an error by Yoenis Cespedes and the winning run, Victor Victor Mesa, scored. Caleb Smith struggled in the first innings and allowed 5 earned runs in 4.2 IP. Max Povse and Kyle Keller finished the game without allowing a single run. In his rookie season, Keller has been amazing, I hope he can keep up this level for the rest of the year.

The last game of the series was for the Mets. Zac Gallen was okay and his game slashline was 5IP, 3H, 2ER. Eveld gave up one more run in relief and the game finished 4-2. We had tied in the third but an error in the fourth by Yolmer Sanchez cost us another run. Tim Anderson had his second homer of the year. Michael Comforto also had a homer and he has been red hot since the season started, this homer was his sixth of the year.

Some league news: Dakota Hudson, of the San Francisco Giant, has suffered a torn labrum and will undergo Tommy John surgery. He is done for the year.

The new home series against the Pirates brought us the second shutout win of the season. Dallas Keuchel had a complete game, allowing just 5 hits, no base on balls and striking out seven. In his three starts, he has earned 2 wins and has an ERA of 1.71. He has been performing as expected. More good news on the offensive side as Will Smith had his first homer and multi-hit game of the year. Trey Mancini had a two-run homer in the fifth against Trevor Williams.

Loaisgia's third start of the year was as bad as the two before them and he was optioned to AAA after the game. Sandy Alcantara was called up and will take a place in the rotation, as I rather not move Yamamoto to a new role, he has been doing a good job as a long reliever. The five runs gave up by the starter in the first inning were practically definitive as we lost by 7 to 4. Isan Diaz had his first homer of the year and it was a grand slam in the first inning of Clay Holmes. Povse had a good game in relief and Gerson Bautista has been really good all season long.

The sunday game against the Pirates was a win for us and we took the series. The player of the game was right fielder, Jorge Soler, who had a two-homer game (Both solo shot and both against Dario Agrazal). Martin Perez had a good second start as he had a 5.2 IP and allowed 1 run. The bullpen had a good outing and Nick Anderson earned his second save of the year. James McCann had his first homer of the year. He will be having more chances as a starter the next few weeks.
