Here's the Yankees' lineup from what I can tell so far.....are you going to have injuries included?? If so, then the Jeter injury will shake things up a bit.
2B Soriano SS Jeter 1B/DH Giambi CF Williams LF Matsui C Posada 3B Ventura RF Mondesi DH/1B Johnson I'm not sure what the split will be for Johnson and Giambi at 1B and DH.....probably Johnson there for at least 30%. If you include the injuries, put Almonte at SS in the 9th spot and move Johnson up to 2nd. Others may bat in that 2 slot as well, but I think Johnson has been there the most so far. As far as bench players, Bubba Trammell will see time in the OF, and some at DH. Flaherty is the backup C. Enrique Wilson is the utility man, but will mostly play SS and 2B (probably more at SS if you have injuries and Almonte struggles). Finally, Todd Zeile will see some time at 3B, more frequently against tough lefties, I would guess. Pitchers- Clemens Pettitte Mussina Wells Weaver Rivera is the closer when he gets healthy, with Karsay and Osuna the main setup men, and Hammond working against lefties. They also have Acevedo, who is closing until Rivera gets back. I think the plan is to have him in middle relief when Rivera is back. Also out in the pen are rookie Jason Anderson and Sterling Hitchcock, who will probably not see much action and could be sent elsewhere when Rivera and Karsay are back.

Lloyd McClendon loves juggling his lineup and what not, but here's what opening day was:
CF Kenny Lofton C Jason Kendall LF Brian Giles 3B Aramis Ramirez 1B Randall Simon RF Reggie Sanders 2B Pokey Reese SS Jack Wilson Bench: Craig Wilson C/RF/prolly a little 1B Rob Mackowiak Mostly RF/CF Matt Stairs RF Kevin Young 1B Abraham Nunez IF There's a R/L platoon at first with Simon/ Young. RF also appears to be a place where he'll just stick whoever's hot at the moment. I think Mackowiak is to get a little time in CF, too. Craig Wilson is supposed to play right field every now and then (along with Stairs and Mackowiak), and is also the backup catcher. Rotation: Kris Benson Kip Wells Josh Fogg Jeff Suppan Jeff D'Amico Closer: Mike Williams Setup: Scott Sauerbeck, Brian Boehringer Middle: Joe Beimel, Salomon Torres (also kept around for emergency starts), Julian Tavarez, Dennys Reyes Yes, the Pirates are carrying 12 pitchers. Edit: Forgot to put the full bench

I think I mentioned this below...It seems - but I might be wrong here, that Brown is playing against lefties and Berger is playing against righties.

1. Crawford LF 2. Baldelli CF 3. Huff 3B 4. Lee 1B 5. Easley 2B 6. Grieve DH 7. Rolls RF 8. Hall C 9. Oronez SS Al Martin has been seeing some time at DH. Grieve also has been playing RF. Marlon Anderson is getting AB's at 2B. Backup catcher: Valentin Rotation: Kennedy, Zambrano, Parque, Bierbrodt, and Parris. MR's: Venafro, Seay, Colome,McClung, Sosa, Harper Closer: Carter (right now) Setup men would probably be :Rp McClung, and Lp: Seay |

Just figured I'd give what I've seen so far, then G can mix and see what's best. It seems to mainly be: CF Damon 2B Walker/2B-3B Mueller (That's the plan at least..) SS Nomar LF-DH Manny (as noted, sometimes LF sometimes DH) 1B/RF Kevin Millar (RF Vs. LH again, supposed to be the plan) 3B/1B Hillenbrand DH-1B Ortiz/Giambi (Tough to tell who's playing when) RF Trot/DH-1B Ortiz-Giambi/2B-CF Jackson C Varitek/Mirabelli. Ok...basically here's the rundown. Vs. LHP Mueller is supposed to play in place of Walker, some at 2B some at 3B, moving Shea to 1B in place of Giambi/Ortiz. Also, he may play 3B, moving Shea to 1B and Jackson may play some CF and 2B. Really the CF thing isn't Vs. LHP or RHP, it's just whenever Little feels Damon needs a day off. Varitek/Mirabelli isn't really a platoon, although there was some talk he may get some 1B Time Vs. LHP, Mirabelli is Wakefield's personal catcher - and since there is no way to set that in OOTP, the best way maybe to set Varitek as the starter Vs Both, and Mirabelli starting at 20% (although I have heard the depth charts isn't starting 20% of games, it's he has a 20% chance of starting the current game). Millar is going to play just about everyday, 1B Vs. RHP and RF Vs. LHP. Ortiz and Giambi kind of seem to just be splitting time at DH Vs. RH. Giambi has a better chance of seeing time Vs. LH then Ortiz. When Manny DH's, Giambi plays left. Any of those combinations can come into play on any given day Gregg, so just do your best and I'll take it lol. Now for the pitching: 1. Pedro 2. Wakefield 3. Lowe 4. Fossum 5. Burkett You can se this as Pedro-Lowe-Wakefield-Burkett-Fossum as it would be usually. But Little sticks Wakefield after Pedro and Fossum is the 4th starter so he faced a lefty-heavy lineup in TB. Bullpen: Steve Woodard Brandon Lyon Chad Fox Mike Timlin Ramiro Mendoza Alan Embree Bobby Howry Basically....in the thing you had me I have it set up as: Mop-Up: 1. Woodard 2. Lyon Long-Man: 1. Timlin 2. Howry 3. Lyon 4. Woodard Set-Up: 1. Fox 2. Embree Closer: 1. Mendoza Based on success so far, anyway. My guess is shortly Fox will be ok (he only pitched like 5 innings last year or something) and him and Mendoza will switch spots. But you should probably make Lyon a MR, and at least Triple-A ready, ditto with Woodard as they are in the Boston bullpen. Lyon's touching 95, and throwing well. But that's for another thread ![]() Anyway, couple this with that awesome Red Sox fans (aren't all us Red Sox fans awesome) stuff, and see what you can come up with. Lol, you'll probably work more on this team then anyone else. Nothing is set in stone, everything's committee and platooning and matchups. |

Biddle is the closer right now. Robinson said at the end of spring training that if possible he'd like to have Stewart(if healthy) be the set-up guy and maybe save up to 10 or so. Likes Biddle cause he has a moving fastball and good control in camp. So the job is his till he blows it.
